Astoria Lucerne

Upersonlig og "kaldt" hotell, og veldig dyrt! Resepsjonisten var ikke på tilbudsssiden da jeg spurte om en god "last minute-deal" (vi ankom sent på kvelden). Det var mange ledige rom, merkelig at de ikke vil fremstå serviceminded. Jeg spurte også om rommene var ulike, fikk til svar at alle trippel-rom var standard. Han kunne gjerne fortalt at vårt rom var stort og stille (ikke ut mot trafikkert gate på andre siden), med fin utsikt mot fjell, og liten (brann)veranda. Dårlig innsalg, kun dette svaret med "alle våre triple er standard". Slik sett var rommet over forventning, men det er veldig dyrt. Sveits er generelt veldig dyrt. Da dro videre til Tyskland, fikk vi mye finere rom til HALVE prisen.

No fridges in rooms. At this price/hotel rating you expect mini fridges in every room.
Also individual guests like us booking and paying for our owb rooms are stuck in the basement for vreakfasts whilst tour groups get the nice penthouse/level 7 facilities. Downstairs breakfast area is cramped, noisy and hot. Very dissapointed. We wont be back

Maybe a bit out dated but it still was a nice hotel

Overall, this might be one of the worst value-for-money stays I ever had. The hotel isn’t bad in absolute terms. But it feels like a 3 star hotel at best and the high price is not justified at all. If I paid 200CHF less per night I wouldn’t have a lot of complaints, but even for the generally high prices in Lucerne, the hotel is horribly overpriced. You simply don’t get what you pay for.

The noise situation is very bad. The rooftop patio turns into a club each weekend. Be prepared to hear the bass in your room until 3am in the morning, and to have to share the elevator to your room with people in different states of sobriety. They even have posters that advertise the patio as a place for stag/stagette parties.

The hotel seems highly frequented by river cruise tour groups.

The walls and doors are thin. I was woken up in the early morning by the incessant sound of chairs being pulled around upstairs and you can basically understand every word said in the hallways with your door closed.

The mattresses are very uncomfortable. They feel like quite old overused spring mattresses. I’m not a “mattress sensitive” person and still I had a bad night.

The hair dryer in the bathroom is a really cheap fixed-to-the-wall public pool style hair dryer. The list goes on but I’ll stop there.

Overall it seems like a hotel from bygone times with some lipstick put on top.

Die Parkplätze waren bereits im voraus ausgebucht. Es gibt wenige Ablagemöglichkeiten im Bad. Die Lautstärke war sehr hoch. Über den ganzen Tag hat man in anderen Rahmen Stühle rücken hören. Außerdem war der Bass der Rooftop Bar am Wochenende sehr laut und bis tief in die Nacht im Zimmer zu hören.

The staff start with saying no to every request. The service was slow and towards the end we regretted booking this hotel.

But it was similar prices to all other hotels.
A fridge would have been good to chill water…
