Torel Avantgarde

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Torel Avantgarde Hotel..
The staff was very friendly proactive and welcoming during our stay all little details were to please us.. the friendly goodbye note, the water in our car on departure.. the excellent breakfast with a large healthy choice of fruits, cheeses, bread eggs and so on…
The hotel facilities were indeed avantgarde and design pleasures.
The room was spacious and the bed was comfy.. we found the design features more important then the comfort the room was too dark for reading and so on..
The shower/ bathroom taps were awkward in handling…
But overall we were satisfied and will vome back…

Beautiful, initiate and romantic hotel walkable to most things in Porto. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a scenic restaurant and pool area. Would return!

Beautiful hotel, and excellent location that put us within walking distance of everything wanted to see/visit. The staff were superb - friendly, attentive and nothing was too much hassle. The breakfast was also excellent, and they made a special effort to bring vegan options directly to our table every morning.

Sadly we had a horrible experience at this hotel. I’m honestly shocked it’s rated a 5 star hotel and really hope if that’s the case that they do better. When we arrived after a long day of travel the front desk employee (Ines) greeted us so poorly. She informed me that my room was sold to someone else and that’s there nothing left for us. I said “how can this be, I even paid a deposit.” To which she replied “clearly not” with attitude. After another associate steps in and kindly finds us a room our night only got worse. The room was discussing and unsanitary. There was toothpaste splattered all throughout the bathroom and the floors of the shower were dirty. I messaged the front desk and prayed the bed was clean because we were exhausted and had to get some rest. The next morning they switched our room and when we got there the smoke detector had painters tap covering it. Which is completely unsafe God forbid there would have been a fire. We honestly gave up at this point as we only had one more night. But I would NEVER return to this hotel.

This hotel was the most amazing experience for my wife and I. The hotel and rooms are amazing. The people really made it a very special place. Everyone was so kind, warm and helpful. The restaurant was also absolutely amazing food.

Service , comfort , location , are amazing and one of the top hotels I've ever visit it .

An excellent stay as a group of friends. Well located, very clean, varied & delicious breakfasts, great facilities. We made good use of the pools, the spa prices were high for treatments so didn’t get any. Gym small but sufficient.
Above all else the staff were fabulous- very warm, very friendly and mostly efficient!

This hotel and its staff are amazing. In fact, it’s the team that made our stay memorable. Diogo on reception was very welcoming and the hospitality team, especially the woman in green (never caught the name) who looked after us over our trip. Great location, lovely spa facilities and got a free upgrade to a suite. Overall a super enjoyable stay - thank you so much!

Our stay at Torel Avantgarde was absolutely incredible—truly the perfect place to land after a long, jet-lagged flight. The entire hotel has a sleek, moody, design-forward feel that immediately puts you at ease.

We stayed in the Marcel Duchamp Room, and it was perfection. Rich, chocolate-brown tones, a huge king bed with incredibly comfortable pillows, and two private balconies that made the space feel even more special. It was the kind of room you don’t want to leave—especially when you’re tired and just want to sink into something beautiful and calming.

Our lunch upon arrival, overlooking the Douro River, was the perfect welcome, and dinner in the evening was just as amazing. The setting and views are stunning, and every detail throughout the hotel feels intentional. The staff was warm and attentive from start to finish. Breakfast each morning felt like a full culinary experience. The espresso martinis in the evening before heading out were excellent—and honestly helped us ease into the time change.

The location was also a huge plus, a few blocks removed from the crowds yet, very easy to walk to sightseeing around the city, and anytime we needed a taxi, one arrived within minutes, which made everything feel effortless.

We wish we had time to experience the spa, but we’re already looking forward to coming back and enjoying it on our next visit. We will definitely make this our go-to hotel every time we’re in Porto.

Great location and lovely staff.

We have just stayed for 5 nights. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Charlie Chaplin room which had a large balcony and stunning views. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful- always available for any request. The location is ideal for exploring and we had a delicious meal at Digby on our final evening. I would recommend staying here

Excellent service. Very helpful and attentive staff. They were very keen to help in any way they could. Breakfast was lovely.

Great experience, lovely and helpful staff. Used the gym which was impeccable and the food delicious. Would definitely visit again. Loved the view of the city from the terrace. Thank you for a lovely stay!
