A Great Place to Stay for the 4th of July
Pros:

The Fairfield Inn and Suites in Detroit Lakes is a very nice hotel. It's located very close to the water. We arrived shortly before 11 am on the 4th of July. We were planning to leave our bags at the front desk and come back later to get keys to our room. The lady who was working the front desk checked the computer and found that a room was available at that time, and we were able to get into our room. They were very pleasant and it made things much easier and relaxing for us.
The room was nice. It was a king size room. The bed wasn't too bad--but my wife felt it was a bit on the hard side. The pillows were a bit on the soft side--in my opinion. We didn't hear a lot of noise from the halls. They have signs by the elevator saying quiet hours start at 10pm, which was nice.
The breakfast was pretty good. It's served from 6-9a Monday through Friday and 7-10a Saturday and Sunday. We left Tuesday morning, so getting down by 9:00 on a weekday for something to eat was a little rushed. Hub 41 is located right next door. It's a bar and restaurant with great food and drinks. If you want to try a tasty drink, order the Hub Bulldog. By showing your hotel key you get a 10% discount.
There's a small swimming pool, but we didn't try it out as we didn't have a lot of time.
I would highly recommend staying at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Detroit Lakes. I have not issues with going back again.

Clean, fresh and near the main troll
Pros:

We stopped in Detroit Lakes for the trolls and this hotel is located right next to Alexa’s Elixer! Clean and situated on a lake and next to a park, we liked everything about the hotel.

Good the price during this time.
Pros:

The location was great. The park across the road was great for the kids. Staff were good. The breakfast was good. There were plenty of staff. Not like some of those hotels where no one works.

Cons:

Parking. It is tough. You have to park along the side of the building. There was enough spots, just a walk. The key cards were not working so you needed to be escorted up to your room when you returned. It was a pain. We did not have a shower curtain?

Best hotel/motel in Detroit Lakes
Pros:

Pros:

Nice location next to the beach with bars &restaurant close by. Excellent free breakfast. Clean rooms and comfortable bed&pillows. Staff were very accommodating letting us use the breakfast area for an impromptu family get together.

Pros:

Nice and clean. The staff was very nice.

Cons:

When we checked in about 2:50 p.m. we were told our room wasn't ready. We were told to come back in about 20 minutes which we then came back in 30 minutes but still had to wait. Also, I had requested a lake view but none were available which I understood but had no view at all of the lake.
