Great breakfast. Bedroom beautifully decorated. Loved the retro radio, double armchair and sense of space. Arriving quite late and with 3 mins before the restaurant closed, the staff took the initiative to take my dinner order and place it on a table while I went to my room to drop my case. Great thinking from them.
Rooms that border the road are a little noisy at night with truck traffic transiting through Ampthill when other traffic is not around. Dinner menu is limited on standard main course dishes.

Best service and English pub hospitality
Very comfortable room and really great location in Ampthill. Walkable to local shopping and restaurants. The room way exceeded expectations! It looks to have been recently renovated and was very very well-appointed. Room and bathroom looked brand new and were very clean. Bed was comfy too. The downstairs pub staff were very friendly as well.
The only cons I can think of were that the HVAC was very noisy throughout the night. The water pipes may be quite old since we able to hear water gurgling all night. That being said, it's certainly not a deal breaker and would definitely recommend this Inn.
food was great (breakfast and evening meal), staff super attentive and helpful. room was quirky but nice, thank goodness for air conditioning. We live in deepest darkest North Devon with no major roads or street lighting so anything else seems noisy to us.

The room was very comfortable, particularly with air con, and very clean. The pub breakfast was excellent - you could choose whatever you wanted from the menu and it was delicious and high quality. The staff were very good.

Slightly overpriced
We arrived very early but they let us book into one of our rooms. BEAUTIFUL!! Newly refurbished. The bathroom was newer than ours at home!! Stayed for dinner. Great food and service. Lovely dining room. Delicious breakfast. Would love to go again.

Everything from the friendly and helpful staff to the breakfast options to the thoughtfully decorated rooms in this charming old house were amazing. The room was bigger and lighter than we had anticipated, the renovated bathroom was lovely. The property was quiet (it has a lovely pub downstairs but we never heard it in our room on the top floor) and felt incredibly safe, welcoming and like a real home away from home. We would love to come back one day!
The AC unit was a little loud, and we had booked a twin room and found each bed to be very small. Having to find parking around town each day was also not ideal. These things did not make our stay any less excellent though!
