Fatboys Resort

Fatboys is an awesome place to base yourself in Gizo for all that the area offers. Staff are wonderful and will do anything to make your stay enjoyable.

We stayed in an overwater bungalow, this is our 2nd stay and it was like coming home. The staff are amazing as is the location. Nothing to do except snorkel, eat, drink or take kayak out or a boat drive. Total bliss

The thatch roof was old and full of termites, thus termite dust fells from the ceiling all day and night. I woke up with it on my face, in my hair, everywhere. The lighting in in the room is very poor. The room is open so you have mosquitoes all day and night. The chair on the porch was broken. Water drains onto the floor not down the pipe. I told the (new) owner and he said they knew these problems and planned to shut down the unit and put on a new roof. But still took my $175/night fee and did not put us into a nicer room, I would not recommend this room unless you know the rooms have been upgraded.

Fatboys was amazing! Excellent snokelling, yummy food and the most incredibly helpful and kind staff.
You will not regret a visit to Fatboys.

Sensational locaton, being able to dive from your balcony is the best.

We had a great stay at Fatboys. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. Our accommodation was spacious with a mosquito net (personal spray and insect spray provided) with a comfy queen bed looking towards the balcony and water, sofa area, bar fridge, jug, 2 jugs of drinking water, hanging rack for clothes as well as an open shelved stand for clothes and a safe. The balcony-2 barstool style chairs and table overlooks the water towards the restaurant and is lovely spot for coffee or an evening drink.

The bathroom with slat floor has a stable door - inside was a toilet and hot water shower. The hand basin is outside the bathroom but there is no light or mirror so you are almost in darkness at night

There are 2 lights above the bed but no other lighting so it is impossible to sit on the sofa to read, write etc as it gets dark.

We stayed 3nights & snorkelled from the restaurant towards the green buoy and surrounds. There was a nice variety of fish and coloured coral and out towards the drop off and green buoy we saw some larger marine life such as humphead wrasse. Conditions & viz varied during our stay & the last morning snorkel presented the best conditions.

To improve a guest’s stay would be lighting over the sofa/lounge area; a light and mirror next to the hand basin, repairing the broken “Roman blind” door to the balcony in order to keep the rain out, an undercover clothes line for swimwear, cordless jug, more clothing storage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Fatboys, the staff are all friendly and helpful special mention to Manu the manager, Lia & Roderick our boat driver/tour guide/fishing god. Thank you all for making our stay wonderful including all of you whose names we don’t know.
The bungalow was clean and well set up the bed was very comfortable the view amazing.
The fresh seafood is cooked perfectly, the banana fritters are good for dessert.
The snorkeling on the doorstep is some of the best we have seen, overall a wonderful relaxing holiday. Can’t wait to go back.

The perfect piece of paradise for tropical islands in a remote location with great people. The staff at Fatboys are so kind, welcoming, and will help you with anything you need. The food is fresh and the drinks are cold. We stayed in the over the water bungalow which is their newest and nicest room. Three of the four walls are floor to ceiling windows to see the stunning views. You fall asleep and wake up to the relaxing sounds of the waves crashing on the beach. The room can be fully closed to prevent water intrusion during rain. It has air conditioning, electricity, and hot water. The best part is you just jump off your private dock and have great snorkeling right off the room. Do not expect to have good wifi access. You can connect at the restaurant but it is slow and spotty. It was nice to disconnect.

Great location, and experience to visit this very interesting part of the Solomons. Excursions to other areas available but expensive unless you can share. Meals very good and plenty of variety for the Solomons.

We are a family of 2 adults and our 7 year old son and 8 year old daughter and we all loved Fat Boys Resort. It is an idyllic holiday destination. We spent our days snorkelling in the 29 degree water, boating to deserted islands, fishing, kayaking, standup paddle boarding, swimming and lots of lazing around.

We enjoyed walking to the local village and meeting quite a few locals as well as seeing their kindy and primary school. If you go to Fatboys take along some stuff for the school - coloured paper, texters, children's books - anything is gratefully received. It was great for our kids to see another way of living.

You can also take a quick boat to Gizo to go to the local markets if you want to stock up on a few food items as the rooms have a fridge.

There are lots of day trips you can take with one of the staff and the boat. We did the trip to Skull Island which was a highlight. Also there is great snorkelling of WW2 wrecks including a fighter plane thats easy to see from the waters surface. And a old fishing vessel. Kids loved seeing these.

Our kids loved it and enjoyed lots of activity but also just mooching around playing on the pool table, collecting shells etc.

We loved the fact that the wifi is patchy so kids are not on screens.

Staff are delightful. Everyone is very warm and gentle

We would love to go back!
