Good location, good price, but...
Pros:

Overall good value, but bathroom smelled like sewage, dim lights, a bit dilapidated overall. Ok if you're willing to put up with these things

Great spot!
Pros:

The people working at the hotel were great! They were friendly and helpful. The free wifi was great, and the complimentary breakfast was lovely. Located nicely in the middle of the city; easy to get to most places within Quito!

Se merece los cambios proyectados.
Pros:

Es una hermosa casona, que reciclada y puesta en valor, seria ideal por su buena ubicacion , a pesar de la buena disposición de los conserjes, no pueden solucionar el tema calefacción, agua caliente y la intensa luz de día y la penumbra de noche.

No Frills but Nice
Pros:

I stayed at the Hotel Plaza for the Habitat III Conference. The hotel is more of a hostel than a hotel and it is definitely in need of some major work or a major uplift. It was conveniently located close to the conference venue and it is walking distance from a local artifacts market which was good. The staff were friendly and very helpful which was nice. The cleaning ladies were not very thorough but once this was mentioned to the front desk staff, it was immediately addressed. The internet connection in the rooms is not great but it works ok in the reception/lobby area. Breakfasts were pretty basic but filling enough to get you through to lunch. Quito though is Breathtakingly Beautiful! Airport transfers (at a cost)and local taxis were facilitated by the hotel which was helpful considering it was my first time in Quito.

Needs some basic repairs
Pros:

While the staff here wasn't bad, the place is pretty run down. Showers don't work, walls and floors are dirty and our phone didn't work (for our wake-up call). I'd admit the location is good, and it's cheap which are benefits, but it seems like if they put in a bit of effort into upgrading the facilities things would have been much better.
And what's the deal with these Ecuadorian hotels charging more per person? We ordered a room online and when they discovered there were two of us, the price went up 50% - same crappy room, and we didn't even use the breakfast because we left well before breakfast started.

You get what you pay for: not much
Pros:

This hotel is in a safe location, not too far from the newer section of Quito and La Mariscal, and it was very cheap, but you do get what you pay for so be forewarned.

The room was relatively quiet and the wifi was pretty good. It was safe. Those are the plusses.

Minuses:
The staff didn't seem that bright - they called another room to give us our wake-up call! The hotel was not that busy, and I think the room they called was empty. We heard the phone ringing down the hall!

The shower was AWFUL! There was a sign posted that early in the morning you need to leave it running for a bit to heat up the water. I tried the shower at 5pm and it was freezing. Plus it was one of those clogged up shower heads where the water sprays EVERYWHERE so it made a total mess. I don't know how long it took to heat up because I gave up on waiting after 5 minutes.

It's up to you as they do have some very cheap prices, but it may not be worth it.

Convienient , economical and helpful.
Pros:

I spent three nights and had no problems. I travel around So and Central America at least yearly and I am not a picky person (disclosure). Where some see peeling paint and panic , I see an interesting building aging gracefully. The breakfast is decent , the shower hot , the beds comfotable and the staff helpful. If you want the Ritz Carlton go to the Ritz CarIton. If you want an inexpensive interesting place to stay a few days , This is your place.

Finally, quiet
Pros:

Because this place is in an upscale neighborhood, across the street from the French Embassy and the Ecuador Cultural Center, it is quiet. We've tried several places around Mirascal and the Old Town, but this place, for us, was great. No traffic noise at all. It had some nice architectural details, being an older mansion, but was still reasonably priced. We paid $45, which included breakfast, and excellent wifi.

Nothing like the pictures!
Pros:

I have chosen that hotel based on the pictures and as it is in a good area I didn't mind the price a bit high for a Quito hotel. The room was mouldy and the bathroom dirty. Hot water took forever to come through and the sink had an annoying dripping tap! We won't definitely come back

Okay hotel..good locatiom
Pros:

This area is a little pricey...the hotel needs an update and new light bulbs!!! It was an okay stay for an older solo traveler...shower was available certain times of day...breakfast was included and it was typical..the major problem is the day staff did not speak english...not helpful

I always come back
Pros:

I haven't been here for awhile, but the kind and professional reception desk worker remembered me and my favorite room. OK it's not the Hilton, but hey, it's Ecuador. Always clean, comfortable, safe. As a single female traveler, that's the right combination for me.

Fine if you're on a budget
Pros:

I certainly wouldn't recommend this to anyone who can afford to stay in a bit of a nicer place. It may be cheap but it is pretty dirty and oddly very empty for how large it is. The people are very nice though and very helpful. It's also a good location in a quite area of Quito. I'm a student so it was a no brainer for me to save money and stay in a bit more of a sketchy place but if you can afford not to I wouldn't stay here.

Expensive and dirty
Pros:

we went at the beginning of December and we choose it as the location was great. we spent nearly 200 dollars for 2 nights and it didn't look no even a little bit as the pictures, the room and the bathroom was so dirty (sheets with blood marks and dirty and smelly bathroom) the walls were mouldy.
I won't definitely go there again.

Do not stay here!
Pros:

While traveling with a group of Master's and PhD students, we stayed here. It took 3 different rooms before I was given one without black mold. Most of the rooms had black or pink mold in there. Absolutely disgusting. The mattresses were hard. The water took 10-15 minutes to warm up with hot water. They do not accept credit cards. The hotel needs a serious update. The only upside was the location. There are so many better places to stay in Quito. A group of us arrived early and stayed at Hotel Finlandia and it was infinitely better.

Good location, bad pricing
Pros:

This place really is in a good location - just around corner from Hilton/McDonalds/KFC and staff nice to deal with but that's where it stops. Quito is not an expensive place to find a good place to stay but this place was in relative terms, expensive. And what you got for your money wasn't fantastic. A basic room which looked like it was last done-up in the 70s. Unless you have to stay here - tours stay here as staff get gratis rooms - you've got better options in Quito.

Don't believe the photographs
Pros:

The single room I was given was as sparse as it gets. The bed was extremely hard. My traveling companions also complained about the beds. Be prepared to be awakened by airliners through the night. The Wi-Fi is iffy- I was only able to get online once with my Nexus 7 tablet when we were there. There are better choices than this hotel.

Ok/average hotel-more like a hostel
Pros:

The hotel picked me up at the airport, which was nice since I was arriving so late at night. As for my room, the bed was comfortable, and the room was cozy. The sheets were worn, stained, and had holes in them. The carpet needed vacuuming. The sink, toilet, and shower were clean, but the walls and mirror had toothpaste and unknown objects on them. The water was absolutely, wonderfully hot. The TV was broken (not that I was in my room much to watch it) as well as the lamp. The view was beautiful.

As for security, the room had no deadbolt or chain lock...just the small lock on the door knob. However, the hotel/hostel is gated and guest must buzz in.

The first morning, the hotel was flexible with how late they served breakfast. Although I arrived early, I saw people trickle in after the 9:30 deadline, and the staff continued to serve. However, the following morning, I arrive at 9:32 and had to beg for my breakfast. The staff acted very inconvenienced. The breakfast was good and included bread, coffee or hot chocolate, juice, and an egg.

It's located close to a main bus stop and strategically between old town and the mariscal sucre area.

When I was leaving, the front desk undercharged me, and I didn't realize it. A few days later, I received an email from the hotel regarding THEIR error. The hotel wanted me to settle up if I was still in Ecuador. I was still in Quito and wanted to do the honest thing, so I returned to pay. The second I handed the front desk a $20 bill, he immediately rejected it without even looking at it. He told me it was fake because of how it felt. It was a new $20 I had gotten from my bank back in the states. I was a bit amused and perturbed by this. He decided to thrill me with more evidence as to why it was a fake--the color, etc. Trying not to roll my eyes, I pulled out all of my $20s and let him pick out which one he wanted. Fully knowing that I really didn't have to return, I felt a bit aggravated that the front desk was making such a big deal about my $20 when I was just trying to do the honest thing.
