The room was excellent
Since our last stay a lot of the sofas in the lounge area seem to have been removed. They had been replaced by a lot of tables laid for dining, most of which were not occupied during our time in the lounge. After we'd eaten we just returned to our room as there was nowhere comfortable to sit.

This is the first time I ever post anything online in regards GENDER INEQUALITY.
Rooms ok. Staff lovely. Food was good but unfortunately on my last day here, I had an extremely unpleasant situation at the swimming pool and I was told that members of the pool are favored to guests of the hotel.
What happened was that I was swimming in the fast lane with 3 or 4 other men then I was told to leave unless I could keep up with their speed!!! SHOCKING. As a female, I would obviously naturally be slower than males. Then I was told that they are members and they always train on Monday morning. Well, I live in Ireland and I also take my training seriously and I wanted to keep it up whilst abroad. That's why I paid the higher fees associated to a hotel with a pool. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. They then suggested I move to the medium lane with people who obviously were way too slow for my training needs (probably 3min+)
While I have a flight to catch and therefore, limited training time, we spent 10 minutes arguing about this which meant I was in distress and they wasted my valuable training time.
I was swimming at a pace of just over 2'05" and when the life gaurd admitted that I was close to their speed!!! Still, I was told to either push myself to swim at 1'45" or leave.
My main question is: Is the fast lane therefore ONLY for men because women will never be as fast swimmers???!!! Something to consider for the Lensbury hotel and maybe make 2 fast lanes, one for females and one for males because women will never be able to keep up. Simply because I am a female, my training was compromised in this particular situation.
Also no towels provided at the pool (they ran out!), bed wasn't comfortable, room pretty basic for the price paid, and windows impossible to open.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The facilities were really nice, specially for children. The breakfast was also very nice and my family and I enjoyed our short stay.
There were small details with the room and overall the hotel but nothing major for it to have affected our stay. For example, the door to the room was chipped and worn down and let quiet a bit of light in from the corridor.
Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Bedrooms are well appointed.
The dining options on offer and the quality of this.
