Unfortunately, our stay at Maikhao Palm Beach Resort was a huge disappointment and completely spoilt the last two days of our holiday.

I was aware when booking that the hotel had a more traditional Thai theme, which I actually liked the idea of. However, I had no idea just how old, tired and poorly maintained the resort would be. It looks nothing like the attractive photographs advertised on Booking.com.

We booked a pool-view room but were initially given a room overlooking an abandoned hotel. The toilet didn’t work, neither did the telephone, and we were placed on the top floor, a long walk from reception. We couldn’t even call for the buggy service. After waiting two hours, we were moved to another pool-view room, which was even further away. This room was extremely dark, with such poor lighting that we had to use our phone torches to get ready in the evening.

Walking back to our room at night was genuinely quite frightening. The walk from our room to the lobby was around 10 minutes, with very little lighting along the way. There were long, dark corridors with creaking noises, which honestly felt like something out of a horror film. My children were so scared walking back to the room. This is not the atmosphere you expect when booking a family resort.

The condition of the resort was shocking. The walls and windows were filthy, water poured into the corridors when it rained, and the whole place desperately needs refurbishment.

The pool area was equally awful. The sunbeds were old, the cushions were ripped, the umbrellas were rusty and the swimming pool floor was filthy and covered in debris. There were no staff working at the outdoor pool bar while we were there.

We were also so uncomfortable with the overall condition and cleanliness of the hotel that we chose to walk to other nearby hotels and restaurants for dinner.

Bel hôtel avec un beau buffet de petit déjeuner .

Cons:

Il n' y a pas de transat sur la plage , a aucun endroit.les alentours de l hotel sont a l abandon , ruinees.et plage abandonné.
Il faut aménager la plage.
Le petit déjeuner est servi dans une pièce et sur une terrasse très triste presque glauque dans le style de la plage . Le terrasse est fermée par des fenêtres , tout est gris marron sans charme.

Absolutely loved the service, the hospitality was as to be expected from the Thai culture. We were all soo well looked after. Venue was clean tidy and loved the location. We stayed here our first night after arriving to Thailand for the first time, will definitely be back!
