My Place Hotel-Ankeny/Des Moines IA

We didn’t get to stay here since they canceled our reservation so we don’t like anything about it!

My advice is do not book with this hotel. Three days before we were to arrive, the manager, Adam, called and told my husband that they were canceling our reservation. When he told why they were canceling our reservation he lied to us and told us that we were one of the last ones to reserve a hotel room, which was not true because we reserved in early October and then tried to tell us that there were graduations going on which is not the case in early April. What really happened is we got a good rate through booking.com and the hotel wanted to charge more because it was a very popular weekend during due to the Luke Combs concert in Ames, so instead of honoring the confirmed reservation we had, Adam made up an excuse to cancel our room so he could charge more for the same room. We had to scramble to find another room that was available, which was further away and cost more.

Clean, nice beds, great location, staff personal.

Booked for stay 1/30/26. Had to cancel, reached out to hotel who said contact booking company and gave name of company we did not use. Contacted the correct booking company who said we would get refund. Followed up 2/13 and was told hotel denied refund. Booking company said if we get name of person we spoke with and approval we can have refund. Called and talked to GM at hotel who claim he never got any phone calls from booking company. Then GM claims he can not authorize a refund as his agreement with booking company prohibits him from ever doing this!!! I reached back out to booking company who states they did contact him several times and he denied the refund request every time. Not a hotel I would recommend nor is it one I will ever book for future travel stays.

This place was amazing! I felt totally safe and so comfortable like I was at home.
The staff was amazing and the rooms are incredible.
Everything was very clean and they had full kitchen, with a full size coffee maker so I had wonderful coffee in the morning that didn't tastes like cardboard.
They also have an in room menu that you can get little items delivered to your room without leaving the hotel. 24-hour coffee is also available at the front desk.
I highly recommend this hotel and this is coming from someone who normally stays at a La Quinta.
They even have a pet area with bags available.

They let us check in early.

A wonderful value amongst many hotel and restaurant options, especially if you don't need a lot of frills (no pool, no gym, food for purchase only. The property was well kept, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and you could actually open the window to get fresh air. The wi-fi worked well. The single bed room was spacious (ample floor space for two+ yoga mats). The room included a kitchenette with full-size fridge, microwave, and counter-top range (no cooking or eating utensils). We would definitely make this a regular stop when traveling through Des Moines.

This was a great place to stay. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette and full fridge was the best. Side note there is no pots or pans or utensils to cook with.

Spotlessly clean, well appointed and a comfortable bed. Easy access to the interstate. Only negatives were that the hair dryer didn’t work and the room didn’t have any coffee. The coffee in the lobby was the weakest I’ve ever had. But it was really great and we would definitely stay again.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was really nice having a full size frig & freezer plus a kitchen sink. The room had a dining table with two chairs and a recliner. Only problem we had was a slow draining tub/shower and it certainty wasn't a deal breaker. I thought the price was very reasonable.

Great place was quiet and roomy

Very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and lots of amenities.

Parking was safe. Kitchen was great.

Nice and clean but no breakfast buffet

They advertise a kitchen but forget to mention that absolutely no kitchen supplies or anything related to actually cooking anything is provided. I stayed for 2 weeks and couldn’t get my room cleaned at all, even after numerous requests.
