Juliana Hotel Colombo

I stayed at Juliana Hotel during my visit to Colombo and it was a wonderful experience. The location on Galle Road is excellent – very central, close to restaurants, shopping, and only a short drive to Galle Face and the main attractions of the city.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, offering great value whether you stay for a few hours or overnight. The staff were polite, helpful, and always available whenever I needed assistance.

What I appreciated most was the convenience – easy check-in, straightforward service, and a safe, welcoming environment right in the heart of the city.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel in Colombo with a great location and reliable service, I highly recommend Juliana Hotel. I will definitely stay here again on my next trip!

Room rate is little bit costly based on room condition.

Not appropriate for a standard tourist to stay

First of all , the price of the hotel for what you get is ridiculous. The room was so outdated and no window to open for ventilation so therefore smelt awfully damp and was off putting whilst trying to sleep on the terribly, uncomfortable , lumpy , unclean bed , never slept on a bed as uncomfortable in my life. The TV did not work , the air conditioning was so loud I thought a plane was landing on the roof. The bathroom smelt like the sewers and looked like it hasn’t had an update since 1952. There is no wifi in the room but there is in the lobby but is so slow and useless there is no point trying to use it. And also there is designated smoking areas on each floor right next to bedrooms so can smell camel cigarettes being smoked all night. Overall would not recommend.

Please stay away from this place !!! This is the worst place I have stayed, the rooms were dirty started Itching, the AC was leaking the whole night, the room was very dusty. If I would I would give a negative rating. Patches all over the wall, the water pressure in the washroom was low and rust and mold as you can see from the attached pictures. I would not recommend this to anyone. Not at all as described and the pictures online are very outdated.

My recent stay at Juliana Hotel in Colombo was unfortunately marred by various issues with the hotel's condition. The cleanliness of the room and toilet was exceptionally poor, with the added discomfort of finding bugs in the toilet. The air conditioner was both loud and noisy, and there was a persistent unpleasant odor in the room. Furthermore, several lights in the room were not working, and I noticed holes in the bedsheet. An inconvenience worth noting is that the hotel does not provide an iron or ironing service, so it's advisable to carry your own.

My experience was disappointing to the point that I had to check out after just one night, even though I initially booked a three-night stay. On a more positive note, the staff at Juliana Hotel were friendly and accommodating, and the hotel's location was convenient. However, the hotel needs to urgently address the cleanliness and maintenance issues to provide a comfortable experience for its guests.

It's really worth it with the location and it's easy to go everywhere. Very free place and the rooms were nice not only that Apart from an electric kettle, the other facilities were good, However, it was the best place to find for the price 😇👋🫂👣

The location of the hotel is superb and the price can't be beat. It is beyond me how the hotel can run air conditioning in the rooms at this price.
I don't understand why this hotel has so many bad reviews.

Either the hotel is booked by people who are extremely stingy or who have to calculate with every single rupee. Regarding the nationalities of the guests, it must be said that you can't even rent a chicken coop for this price in their countries of origin.

The hotel offers all the promised facilities such as attached bathroom, air conditioning, WIFI and TV. The hotel can only be criticized for not having a single room in the entire building, as shown on the hotels own website.

At this price it must be clear to everyone that this is a very basic, run-down budget hotel and one cannot make any claims. If you have higher demands, you have to pay about three times as much in Colombo. If you have higher demands but don't have the necessary finances, you have to make do with hotels like the Juliana or don't come to Sri Lanka.

My company booked the hotel for an employee as it is very well located for our business. After ouremployee had a look at the room, we immediately rebooked him to another hotel, but we won't be upset about that and won't give a bad review for the above reasons.

This does not look like the pictures in the website at all. The worse place I have been to. The room is full of dirt. There were hair on the bed sheets, tiles in the room and the bathroom was broken. Smells really bad. I felt vomitish the moment I entered the room. As soon as I saw the room, I didn't want to stay. I wanted a refund. I didn't stay more than a minute there. When I told that to the manager, he sent a person to check the room. They were lying saying we used it. The worst service ever. The stuff was drunk and could smell them from a mile away. Never go with your family.

This place is a mismanaged chaotic entity. The whole hotel management needs a revamp and a proper class in hospitality.

The rooms, restaurant, front desk all need a massive makeover, they have a Chinese management who don’t know how to treat guests.

Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever stayed on! Looks okey from the outside but when you get to you room it is absolutely disgusting. Insects everywhere! In the bed, walls, floors. Ac did not work either and there is no Wi-Fi. And the bathroom is even worse, so disgusting!
We checked out after 10 minutes and changed hotel.

I booked this hotel for a night when I was shifting from Colombo to kandy. I was so tired packing and had a very late checkin. Not at all a organized hotel. Room, washroom and the lobby area smells very bad. Staff are not friendly or hospitalized, Their strict rule is no visitors allowed.Dirty linen, and patch all over the wall. I would never checkin to this hotel when they market it how actual it looks like.( don’t judge the hotel by its marketing photos). Bathroom needs really a good maintenance and the room too. Public area can look more nice than it is. Staff can practice more professional. I would not recommend this hotel for a rush night even. Simply waste of the money you pay. Atleast the bell boy helped carry the bags after requesting and paying. Advantages are this is located in a flexible point at the city center. Good room space, bathroom space and public area. Still thank you very much for you great job hotel Juliana team.

A very central, well run and managed and very liberal hotel. All rooms are air conditioned. Have huge TV. Hot water. And great restaurants and banks etc right next to it. Highly recommended!

Good place and clean..

My entire life the most utterly guttred crapy hotel in the whole wide world, i was shocked the way it is maintain, the rooms were shocking, very old bed linen. Air condtioner never been repaired. water is leaking everywhere

toliets never been cleaned and no soaps or bath jel at all. guys dont ever walk into this hotel ever. Youre better off sleep on the raod, much more cleaner than this hotel,

The worst hotel I ever seen in the world.

This hotel was one of the worst hotel i ever stayed. I recently saw some pics of this hotel and the rooms are beautiful. I was so happy to see such a hotel with some kinds of services. But unfortunately the services they provided and the the room was so dirty and not what i expected. Even the hotel has mentioned free wifi but when i asked the reception for password he said i should pay 500/- lkr for 3 GB. I was shocked and asked why should i pay money and its mentioned free wifi. He said that all just to attract people. From there onwards i was pissed of with the service. I never recommend such hotel to sri lankans or tourists. 1 main thing is people walks near to room around 2 am in the mid night in the coridoor and annoying with some kind of weird noises. That made me so uncomfortable. Please guys never go to this kind of places.

Room had strong smell of smoke. Old, run down furniture and bed. Leaky toilet, stained fixtures.
