I stayed at this property from June 15 to June 19 with my mother, and overall, it was a very memorable mother-and-son trip. If I had to describe this hotel in one word, it would be people. The property has some of the warmest, kindest, and most genuine hospitality colleagues I have come across.
Our arrival on June 15 was a beautiful start. We checked in around 7:30 p.m., and the Front Office team kindly arranged an in-room check-in so that my mother did not have to wait at the Front Desk. I believe it was Ms. Arunadi who assisted us, and she was absolutely wonderful. Her warm welcome, genuine smile, and thoughtful service made a very strong first impression.
From June 16 to June 19, we had breakfast at Central Breakfast Buffet Restaurant. The team there was generally outstanding. The hostess, whose name I unfortunately do not remember, was professional and welcoming. I would especially like to recognize Mr. Rasika, Chef Manesh, Tilan, Bilal, Himalka, Sadekulam, Aslam, and Shehan. I also met the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage, whose name I cannot recall, and he was a pleasure to speak with. What stood out most was that their warmth and attention were not limited to our table. I could see them extending the same care to other guests as well.
A special mention must go to Ishani at the lounge. She remembered our names, acknowledged us every day, and was extremely kind to my mother. That kind of personal recognition is true hospitality. With the right guidance and continued development, I genuinely believe Ishani has the potential to become a star in the industry.
Nikeeta was another wonderful colleague we met during our stay. She greeted us with such a genuine smile, took time to speak with my mother, and made us feel truly cared for. Her kindness and sincerity left a lasting impression.
I also had a wonderful experience at Chi Spa. Kudos to all the staffs especially Karma and Sandy.
We came for breakfast around 8:00 a.m. during a busy period, which I understand can be challenging. However, many tables were uncleared, our table had no cutlery, and we were not acknowledged for some time.
The service team seemed under pressure, but there was a clear lack of leadership presence on the floor. Several managers walked past without a smile, eye contact, or checking if we needed anything. Bilal and Sadekulam were excellent and tried their best to recover the situation.
We could see clear lack of leadership even though many managers were present.
Beautiful hotel, staff and food. Would highly recommend for a stay in Colombo.

Had a wonderful experience at Shangri-La and Nishadi provided exceptional service.
Tiki Bar is one of the best places to enjoy a great evening. They have fantastic Golden Hour offers that make the experience even better. Tharindu was my server, and he provided excellent service throughout my visit. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. The food was also delicious and well-prepared. I had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Tiki Bar to others.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shangri-La Colombo in room 1813 from 8th-10th June on bed and breakfast basis. Our room was very well equipped, clean and well positioned. The only things that I would have appreciated extra would be a coffee machine and a full length mirror. We ate all of our meals at the hotel and every dish we had was fresh and delicious. Breakfast and the buffet dinner were excellent with a huge variety to suit all tastes. We also had a meal in Shang Palace, which was exceptional, with huge portions! We also had treatments at the spa, which were fantastic. Again the spa was spotlessly clean with all required amenities and the treatments were faultless.
The standout point of this hotel is the staff. Without exception every member of from the reception, Concierge, waiting staff, housekeeping, spa, front of hotel, were professional, at the same time warm, friendly and welcoming. A special shout out to the guys at Capital Bar- we had such fun in there and they even have me the opportunity to make my own cocktail, which was such fun. I wish we could mention them all by name but I'd hate to leave anyone out.

How close it was to the mall
After a long drive through heavy traffic from the airport was stunned at the luxury of this accommodation. Our driver was directed to drive through a security area for vetting by courteous and friendly staff.
We had booked a Club Room so we were directed to the 32nd floor, the Club level, for check in. This was handled with a minimum of fuss.
After arriving at the hotel we were in our room within minutes. We decided to have lunch at the Chinese restaurant on level three. The food was excellent but the standout was the staff. Continually checked we had everything we wanted and attentively pouring fresh tea. and water. The friendliness of the staff is evident through the hotel. Staff are well trained, friendly and knowledgeable.
Our room was well appointed and spacious.
No questions about the five star rating, this is a fabulous hotel.
As a regular customer at Central Cafe, I keep coming back because the experience is consistently excellent. Time and time again, the team goes above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable.
A special mention to Chandima, Rashmi, and Chrish, who are truly exceptional. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail never go unnoticed. They always make me feel welcome and ensure that the service is outstanding every single time.
The quality of service is consistently great, and it’s the dedication of staff like Chandima, Rashmi, and Chrish that makes Central Cafe stand out.
