We had a lovely time here, the staff are professional and friendly. Spa the facilities are ok. We would definitely stay here again. Strongly recommend this hotel.
Dated and tired place
Very friendly helpful staff
Food was good
Good value weekend
Another very enjoyable holiday at Whitewater. The staff are amazing, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to our next stay there.
Nice friendly staff, old school charm
The picturesque views from outside is brilliant and breth taking . The Hotel looks great from outside with it's stone walls etc but is need of an update inside . The rooms are big but some cupboard doors need fixing and the shower leaked.
It was clean with a impressive menu but the food isn't good . Breakfast was cold and the toaster didn't work most of the time. You do need to look for a clean plate ,bowl or cups .
If you ask for a tea tell them to only put one tea bag in it as it's strong .
If you stay on the first floor you will be woken up at 7 am by the kitchen radio or kept awake at night with the restaurant music coming though the floor .
The spa is great . The staff are brilliant and look after you. The pool is ok but the changing rooms are small . The gym was impressive and you can get a cuppa from the reception.
The Hotel is well placed as there's a steam engine , boats on lake and a motor museum right next to it .
There is a pub called the Angler's arms within 2 mins car or 10 mins walk which has brilliant home cooked food with a good cask ale selection. The team is great as well. .
All in all it's a great base to stay and wonder around the lakes .
Quiet
The hotel is in a great location and very picturesque. The staff were very friendly. The buffet beakfast could have been a bit better although okay in general.
The whole place is very dated though and could do with brightening up as it has a lot of dark funishings and needs a lot of TLC.
Our room was clean but again the furnishings where very dated with handles missing and scratched. The matress on the bed had a stain on it and it was and old matress with metal springs so crunched when you moved. The changing rooms in the spa was very small with little room and again very dated and could be a lot better.
Overall not a disaster stay but for the price i paid i would'nt return again.
Lovely property well maintained just a lovely relaxed week
Beautiful location and building. A bit old fashioned interior. Dinner menu limited and the same each night. The menu could do with more variety.
Spacious, comfortable room situated close to an event we were attending (5-10 minute drive). Room well equipped - brewing facilities are always a big bonus!
Breakfast buffet was well stocked and had a good choice of items - some more visible guidance near the toaster would be helpful for those unfamiliar with the make and how it works.
The only stressful aspect of the stay was lack of parking space letter on the Saturday evening - unsure where we were allowed to 'overflow' to.
Overall pleasant stay, suited our needs and would return again
This place gave us the impression of being a bit run down and lacking in care and a bit stingy with extras ( I packet of biscuits in the room, I loo roll, broken toaster in breakfast room, no menu to say you could have extras like poached eggs, no condiments on tables at breakfast , bar tables not cleaned or lights on the the eating area and crumbs on the chairs! )We ate in the bar twice and both times the food was fine but you really shouldn’t have to clean your own table and chairs, turn on lights etc should you?!?!
I used the pool which was nice and nicely accessible for me however the changing room floor was treacherous as it was soaking wet.
There needs to be more awareness that this isn’t a place that’s suitable for people with mobility issues. Both the restaurant and the bar had steps to access them.
We thought initially the receptionist wasn’t very welcoming as we stood for quite a while waiting to check in while she was talking to staff members and she gave no acknowledgment that we were waiting, not a great first impression.
The room and corridors seemed dated and dark and our room had an odd smell however it was clean ( apart from stains on the carpet) and comfortable.
Really lovely room. Big and peaceful. Comfortable bed. Lounge food fine, quick service.
.
The hotel is ok, but it is in need of some maintenance and upkeep.
We had 2 rooms, and there were issues with both.
Room not good, really poor, window could look into my room
Rooms are dated, but clean.
Towels are "well washed" could do with a good refresh throughout.
Really nice hotel.
The restaurant was excellent although the service was slow as there was no Maitre d' at the door to welcome and we had to wait quite a few minutes to be seated. However, the waiter cleared a table for us efficiently upon request.
The setting was perfect for our outdoor weekend: rapidly flowing river outside our window and lovely views into the valley.
The room was comfortable and spacious fitting myself, my husband and grown son adequately.
The staff we interacted with were very friendly being Jill and Harry. The premises needs a lot of attention. Breakfast needs an over hall re fruit selection. Arrived mid breakfast time fruit was finished except for prunes. Ran out of common brands of whisky. I don't know if there is a manager but was unsighted whilst we were there.
