The staff were amazing and the beachfront location was incredible! Our room was very spacious and quiet and the bed was large and comfortable.
There were a couple of what I would consider "hidden" costs. The parking is £10 a day but it is essentially valet parking. The breakfast included in the room price is a continental breakfast, which I actually felt was very good, however, you had to pay extra for any "hot" food and this was £10 per dish. Whilst some of this looked worth the money (the cooked breakfast), I had avocado and eggs on toast, which i did not feel was worth £10. It was essentially a piece of toast with guacamole and (admittedly very nice!) poached eggs. I don't mind paying more, but I think this should be priced based on the meal rather than £10 for all.
I also think in general the hotel could do with a little bit of updating.
Very comfortable and clean staff extremely friendly and helpful
Nothing
Sea view
Room was cold
A lovely place to stay - our room was spacious, and have a fantastic view over the beach! Hotel breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. Special shout out to Dan, who was really great and made us feel right at home! We'll definitely be back!
The hotel was a bit of a steep climb up from the station/beach - not a problem for most people, however pregnant or the elderly might find it a challenge to get back from town
Great location and nice room with sea view
Receptionist was unhelpful bordering on rude. She’s not the right person for front of house
Location and overall quality
Decor could and should be improved
The room was lovely
Being able to get in touch with someone at the hotel after we left because we were over charged.
Ideally situated with parking facilities, the room was comfortable and a great breakfast
The bar was having issues with their beer pumps and the staff for the bar were hard to locate ( perhaps they were trying to sort the beer issue out?)
Location is good. Beautiful views of the harbour and sea
Breakfast was a bit average, our room was cold. Had to wait 25min to get the car out of parking.
Amazing location and incredible views
The parking situation is farcical. You pay £10 a day and the doorman parks your car away somewhere! My car was returned to me in a completely unacceptable condition with bird mess covering vehicle to the point where i could barely see out of windscreen. Had to get car valeted next day. There was no offer to clean the car and in fact it was passed to me as a bit of a joke ‘ a present from st ives’ was the exact words told to me by the doorman. Unacceptable. If you take a residents car keys and charge them to park, then you should make sure the car is returned in the same condition it was given in trust to you. Future customers please beware!
The view
Room and bathroom very tired. Although staff very nice waited 10 mins on a dirty table for drinks. First night dinner ran out of fish and chips and steak. We went to bed hungry. Richard Lowe was contacted via email we were given a complimentary bottle of proceesco and dinner unfortunately no face to face .
He has since offered a 2 night complimentary stay after I made it clear I wasn't happy. Unfortunately it was almost a month ago I sent him some dates but no reply. I have the feeling they would like this to go away. We are requesting a charge back very disappointing as it was a special occasion.
