Harbour Hotel & Spa St Ives

I’ve got to be honest. I found the staff to be the most disappointing aspect. On a number of occasions I had asked for simple things, an iron in particular as I needed to sort my suit for the wedding. I had pre arranged the evening before to have this delivered to my room - it didn’t arrive. I then requested it again in the morning for immediate delivery to my room - still didn’t arrive. By this point time was getting on and had to once again request this before it eventually arrived. The venue also tried to charge me for breakfast even though it was included in my booking.

In terms of the hotel itself the room was extremely tiny. I could barely fit my kit in. Other than these inconveniences it was an ideal stay for me during work.

Most of the staff, were completely unhelpful.
Upon requesting the car from valet parking, the member of staff got the car from the car park and left it in an illegally parked location, at a busy junction, well before the time it was requested.
As a result, the side car has been scratched with a key by a member of the public, who has taken exception to the way it was parked!

Although the staff was very polite and hardworking, there was a serious shortage of personnel, which everyone (own personnel) was aware of and acknowledged.
This is the worst breakfast I have ever encountered at a hotel in this price range. Unfortunately, other user reviews say the same thing.
Furthermore—and this is a matter of company policy rather than something specific to the St. Ives branch—they charge an additional parking fee from the very first day of your stay, despite already having above-average room rates. For a hotel of this caliber, it is a somewhat unnecessary way to generate extra revenue.

Service slow and common areas needed a good clean

I know I am not the only guest to think the breakfast was disappointing. I’ve never had a cold buffet-style breakfast at a hotel where I’ve paid so much to stay the night. It’s usually a hot cooked buffet or a choice of cooked foods. Honestly, that’s the only point that dropped the score a little.

Hotel dinner was erratic - same scallop dish starter had different number of scallops in each. One main out of four ordered didn’t arrive until further request made, so arrived much later.
