Is this a full fledge hotel or a training ground for UCSI students? Either way, we paid money to stay and use this hotel for events. The building is beautiful and majestic from afar. However, the staff’s mindset and attitude is far from a 3.5 star hotel standard. The staff just cannot understand simple requests or instructions and we had to repeat the same instructions over and over again.
Please wash your chair cover. They are white but filthy! If you want to know how filthy they are I will share photos.
While we were requesting for room setup, only ONE staff came trying to fix the table but your other hotel staff just sit around not helping.
Definitely will not recommending this hotel for stay or events!
I chose this hotel as it was very accessible to the conference centre where I was attending a conference. I was pleasantly surprised with the room - it was clean, very spacious, comfortable bed. Nice views (though dirty windows). The room even had a kitchenette in it (but with a note that no cooking allowed?!). Lovely big bath and separate shower. However hotel as a whole has appearance of neglect. Pool was nice but needs a good scrub…whole exterior of hotel looks crumbly and dirty/likje it is slowly moldering away. Roof top area and pool bar not functioning. Overall just seemed like a place that had seen better days, many many days ago…Sad, as it has great potential and it looks like it was built to a quality standard.
It served the purpose I needed, but if I were to return as a tourist, I would most definitely not choose to stay here.
A fair distance from town, nothing much to speak of in near vicinity….the saving grace being the cheap taxi’s one can get in Kuching.
Room are spacious !! Laksa Sarawak very yummy & the service given are outstanding and the environment surrounding just make you feel recharge . What a memorable experiences !! Highly recommended and definitely will gonna come back
Thank you UCSI Hotel.!
The beds are nice but the hotel it self has nothing special to offer. The breakfast was very disappointing!
For example there was a glass with butter where everyone puts they’re knive in with jam or chocolate, it was disgusting !!! Almost everything we need to ask for as there was no bread or fruit.
The bathroom needs some renovation and is smelly.
The hotel is outside the citycenter and there is nothing nearby
Stayed here for 2 nights. All are good except the pillows. The rooms overlooking the river are awesome. Awesome view to watch the sunset & sunrise from the rooftop. Foods were average. As with other hotels struggling from the devastating effect of covid & now making recovery, there were plenty of maintenance jobs to be done to the property.
Near BCCK…
Arrived at hotel for a check-in at around 1500hrs. Waited for about 20mins to be served by one of the FO. Worst yet to come, the rooms wasn't ready at that moment(1615hrs)
Then can i have a foc late checkout?
Spacious room, however the limited food choices during pandemic, slight a bit dirty in bathroom as still seeing food waste and hairs while checking in. Not so hygiene using recycled access card holder.
Overall, staying experience was great and comfortable. I love their new look, modern and spacious room size. I stayed at junior suite room with river and greenery view from my glass window, it was spectacular to see sunset in my room. Even though location a bit further from the city but it doesn’t stop me to stay here because I just want to escape from hectic city life. Ontop of that his property has outdoor parking which is very big and it gave me stress free looking for a parking lot and I parked just next to main entrance (convenience!). The best part, you could see live plant, huge tree inside the building at lobby area. Hospitality was lovely and wish to stay here again for my subsequent trips with my family. Shall try their SkyLounge at level 16 with great view of Kuching city, river and greenery from their rooftop. Swimming pool and gym facilities are available but unfortunately swimming pool is still close. Hurmmm
Thank you UCSI Hotel for the excellent customer service. I really enjoy my stay here with comfortable bed & perfect view from the room window. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. The staff was very helpful. I selected this hotel based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. It exceeded my expectations.
The hotel located a bit far from the city, but its still able to serves my need to just chills and relax from the daily life routine. In additional of Sarawak River view, its amazing. The hotel lobby, room, restaurant was so spacious. The staff start from the reception counter, dining service and housekeeping are very helpful. Will definitely come again for the next holiday.
This was my first stay at this hotel and was fascinated by the interior decoration of the room which is well decorated and clean. Room is very spacious with high ceiling and the only set back is the distance of this hotel from Kuching city.
Love the hotel. The room is lovely and the pool is one of the best.
The front desk was very helpful and i love how clean the hotel is.
I do hope to see better choices for breakfast and better service when it comes to cleaning the table because this massive hotel is really wonderful but need to work harder to improve its service.
First of all let me explain that I hold no grudge against anybody in the hotel and that I´ve enjoyed our stay superbly.
The whole thing gives me an idea that somebody in goverment decided that:"We want a big and luxury hotel here", without realizing that there nobody who will go there and nobody to run it.
So there you have 16 or something floor hotel with infinity pool, huge waterfall in lobby, three restaurants, skybar on the roof, sauna, etc and in total 8 guests in whole thing :-)
Funny thing is, that even those 8 guest were sometimes to much for the staff to handle, so you have to wait for a long time for everything from cocktail, food to paying. But as I´ve said, I am not angry. I really tought it was adorable and I´ve enyoed it. Not to mention that for a really small price you have whole hotel for yourself and the facilities are super cool and modern.
I would definitely go there again. Also big plus is that it is really close from hotel to Bako village jetty.
One hint though - it is not in the center so ordering a Grab in the morning might be a problem. But the reception will help you in this case.
Thank you for a nice stay.
Me and my family stayed here for a night from 2nd to 3rd of June and understand it was a festive season but it is nonsense if everything is unavailable. When we called the front office to inquire something, there was nobody pick up the phone and guess what? We've been calling for more than 3 times and it rang for more than 10 rings at one call. Not to think negative of the staff, we leave it aside. So we went down as we were going out for dinner. Again, there was nobody at the reception counter for more than 10 minutes. This time we really think the service is bad. The worst part is during the breakfast in the morning. We came to the cafe sharp at 7.30am and usually by 7am the foods are all ready, that is what we experienced in other hotel. But, here in USCI Hotel, the food that available is only nasi goreng, bihun goreng, boiled eggs, fried egg, baked beans, chicken roll, yam rolled, some cakes, some salad and the dressings, breads, and cordial drink. There was only one guy who are so busy preparing the foods and we expected the food will be filled in a short while. There is more empty tray with the name of the food on it, so we wait patiently. My daughter usually had cereals so we ask if they have cereal. They said they have cereal. Long story cut short, we are so surprised the milk is only filled once. As there were my daughter and two other kids are opting for the cereal, the milk finished so my husband ask the lady, also known as one of the staff that morning (who came late with sour face) if they will refill the milk, she just shook her head not even looking at my husband to explain. OMG, what a bad manner! We were staying there, paid for the breakfast and that is what we get? And the food that we thought will be filled is only just a dream in a day, they never filled other food anyway. We only had bihun goreng and eggs HA HA. So pity to those who came later than us and found out there was no other food to eat. We can see their upset faces as they open each tray and see nothing in there. We managed to talked to the lady at the cafe entrance counter and she promised us that the manager will call to our room regarding the service, but we never received any call until we checked out. What a shame!! We've been staying at the other hotel during festive season but never experienced such as this. I will not recommend this hotel and never will come back for the stay. The compliment i had is only for the swimming pool as it have a nice and beautiful view facing the Sungai Sarawak and mountains. The room itself is huge and cool. Other than that, ALL SUCKS!!!!
Fairly new hotel and being the only hotel within that area. Huge lobby area since it is also entrance for university student.
Check in process was good but dont expect a bellboy to assist. There’s trolley but no bellboy. No concierge to mention as well or hardly seen during my 4days trip.
Room was huge and the beds were comfy. Stylish room interior for such hotel. Washroom has tubs and rain shower as well bidets. The housekeeping tends to forget few things each time, and calling reception can be frustrating esp during peak hours.
No one hardly use the pool but it’s overlooking the river. Gym and patios are on same level.
Location wise not so good. There’s nothing nearby and at certain times absolute zero taxi. Even hailing services are limited around that area as told by grab drivers.
Breakfast is nice with rotation menu everyday. Plenty of choices. Just the cleaning process is quite slow.
Let start with the pros first;
1. Large bedroom with bathtub and rain shower even though it is just a Superior room.
2. Free parking access for hotel guests.
3. Warming greetings through the smart TV, got variety channels to watch and internet was speedy.
Cons;
1. It did not provide comb, razor, toothpaste, toothbrush, shower cap, bathrobe, slippers and plastic bag for dustbin.
2. Pillow is too soft that it is not comfortable to sleep with.
3. Staff did not tell what is the time for breakfast and the venue until I inquiry.
4. Breakfast choice is not much and nobody went to re-fill the foods and beverages.
5. Requested for pool view, high floor and quiet room through official website booking but it give me bcck view and noisy room which many others are staying at that certain floor.
Overall I wish the hotel can improve more.
Hotel Review : UCSI Hotel Kuching
What i like:
- modern room
- spacious bathroom with bath tub
- comfy bed
- personalise service with welcome note
- facilities and amenities
- cleanliness
- friendly service
Things to improve:
- response time (i need to call a few times to request for the praying mat and to call housekeeping took ages)
- provide praying mat/sejadah in room (since the hotel can afford to put bible)
- breakfast menu
Overall : 4⭐️
I was in awe with the hotel room. It was very clean and tidy. The hotel provided every single thing that SHOULD be in a hotel room: ironing facilities, bathrobe, slippers, water kettle, hairdryer, tea/coffee and kettle, bathtub, many tv channels, superduper fast internet and even a sink in the room (and another in the bathroom). I didn't use the gym or pool, but they were there should you wish to use it. The pool area looked very nice (it was an infinity pool and from upper levels looking at the pool it looked as if it was connected to the river). The decorations and sitting area in the hotel were lovely. So many comfy sofa around the hotel.
Now, my only complaint about the hotel is the food. Food served were bland and quite tasteless, plus the varieties were quite limited. It was disappointing as all other aspects of the hotel were super. I hope they will improve in future and i might come again.
Location wise, this hotel is quite far from the city, nothing much at the surrounding area. Nothing much to do at the area either. Make sure to get a grab driver or taxi driver number if you are not driving.
Big room and bathroom with both shower and tub as well as hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers, water kettle and tea cups in the room, fast and reliable wifi, electric outlet that fits most plugs, fantastic views over the river, great breakfast buffet with egg station, warm local dishes, congee and continental options. Big pool and fitness center. Staff is very professional and tried hard to accommodate my food intolerances. The meeting rooms are over-airconditioned, as is typical for this part of the world, so if you are there for a meeting, dress accordingly. Location is far from town but close to convention center and ride share app made it easy to go into town when needed.
