The purpose of booking the Waverley Hotel was the close walking proximity to Crewe train station, to facilitate a 06:00 train journey on the Saturday morning and we had a late return time at midnight that day so we needed to stay 2 nights. We didn't book breakfast as this wasn't needed and so can't comment on this.
For the price, we got exactly what we needed. Our room accommadated 3 so the 2 of us had ample space. All areas of the hotel were very clean, furnishings are basic and lack lustre but this was not an issue for us. Archie on reception was excellent and most helpful in recommending somewhere to eat - Giovanni's Italian restaurant across the car park and the food was excellent. Accessibility to Crewe Station was perfect, less than a 10 minute walk.
So all in all this was a great place to stay for what we needed, good value and I would stay again.
The very small hand basin in the bathroom.
The staff were really friendly and helpful
The first room smelled of smoke; I moved but the second smelled musty. There were hairs in the bathroom. The sheets were itchy. The inside of the wardrobe where the shoes go was broken. The door lock didn't work well so it was hard to get back into the room.
Clean, bright, comfortable and very good value for money
Breakfast choice excellent and cooked fresh brilliant
Leaving
Breakfast staff were brilliant. Breakfast was also spot on!
There was a strange gurgling noise that woke me up ast 2:30am, and no it wasn't my stomach!
Location for our visit, good breakfast free onsite parking , staff very helpful and friendly
Not sure if there is by law a minimum size for a room to be classed as a double, unfortunately I doubt there is, if there was this room would fall, been staying here periodically for 20 years or more it’s decor has not changed tolerable for 1 night because of the location, free onsite parking and breakfast and staff
Good team of staff. Great as a short stay
Very basic
Only used to sleep as needed time with my Nana

Notjinknothink to complain about
Staff were helpful and allowed us to use a little dining table, plates and cutlery to eat our takeaway food, which we really appreciated. The hotel is a short walk from the station and the bus stop to Tarporley (our next destination), allowing us to easily arrive and leave with our suitcases. Our room was comfortable enough and had enough space for our luggage, with a nice view out the window. They gave me a nice bathmat when I asked for one. Yummy hot English breakfast with some fruit, yoghurt and cereals.
The room was a bit cold, and by the time I asked staff about it, they said the heating wasn't on, but that they would turn it on for me. Unfortunately the heating never came on, but by then it was too late to do anything about it. I'm sure if I'd asked earlier they would have sorted it out for me. The hotel has an old time feel, and the bathroom in particular could do with updating. It would be nice not to have to ask for a bath mat, I thought this would be supplied to everyone.
The location. Nice staff. Good breakfast.
Staff very friendly and on hand to help. Room exactly as expected and in a good location for local amenities.
Lovely staff clean stopped 3 times will be back 😀
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious . They were really welcoming of us and our dog.
It's a little dated, but still a lovely hotel.
Good location near the station and football ground. Great value, super breakfast and friendly staff.
It was what we wanted.
The staff were some of the best I have come across, helpful, cheerful and attentive. Although the property is very outdated it was very clean and comfortable. The Sunday lunch and the breakfast were excellent.
The area was a bit run down and I couldn’t get the WiFi or a phone signal.
Had everything we needed for our weekend stay for the football
