The Lodges at Kilkea Castle

Excellent Resort, we wished we had booked a few more days there.

Terrible staff, non working appliances in the room, terrible bathroom. I just don't see anything redeemable about this property other than the grounds. This is soooo not worth the price. I wouldn't stay here for free which is saying a lot. It's apparently developed by a builder in the US. I am not sure what he's building in the US but he certainly did not build a nice property here despite all the potential.

Fun property with a great breakfast that was included. I used the spa services and my husband golfed. Both were reasonably priced.

Fabulous staff and absolutely gorgeous grounds.

Staff were amazing, so friendly and answered any of our questions or requests. Food at the golf club restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was really good. Grounds are stunning to stroll around and well kept. Comfy bed in the lodge.

Beautiful castle with lovely pleasent, helpful staff. We stayed 1 night & had an excellent dinner & breakfast in the 1180 Restauant.

However for a 5 star hotel I was a little dissapointed with a few things: We went to the bar for a pre-dinner drink and there was only one waiter behind the bar & no floor service, one had to queue at the bar for a drink & carry it back to the table.
The overall lodge decor felt a bit dated. The kitchen was well enough stocked but it & the lounge area was very dull.
Dispite a large picture window, here was only 1 small window for ventilation & this appeared sealed so we had to open the door to the terrace.
It was nice that the bedroom had french doors which lead to the terrace, as well as the living room. The bed was big, very comfortable & good pillows. The room had a charming garden view. Regarding facilities; I had to request a bathrobe & slippers which should have been provided. The bathrobe was synthetic & not good quality. There are no hooks in the bedroom or bathroom so I could not hang the robe anywhere. There were no chairs in the bedroom either (just a wee stool) so we had no-where to put clothes at night. I had to put the bed throw on the floor as no place to put it, so not very hygenic.

Amazing customer service and very friendly and accommodating staff. A+++++

Good quality venue for golf, spa and events.

We last minute booked a stay and it was the best decision we could’ve made. Rooms were clean and staff were so friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent.

Amazing experience! Must do the falconry and escape room if you have time. :)

Absolutely stunning- book any activities prior- and check to see what you are receiving we thought we were in the castle but our room was in small lodges a short walk away- we took a cab from Carlow- beautiful grounds and castle

Great staff and a special place. Quiet, the Castle Bar was terrific. Really enjoyed it.

The place is beautiful and the castle is just beautiful to look at . I was a little disappointed with my lodge as not really a lodge like you see in the photos online as it was a lodge that was divided into 4 seperate rooms so really just a hotel like room . But it was a lovely room

Love that the staff provided a fan.

Wonderful Castle out in the countryside, fantastic room, peaceful lush grounds, very helpful staff. Wish we could have stayed longer. They even made us a “to go” bag, when we had to depart prior to breakfast.

We enjoyed a wonderful family birthday weekend. Stayed at the Lodges. Staff are super friendly and welcoming.
