Fellow in charge of breakfast was very diligent. Breakfast was better than expected.
Check-in person not there. Had to wait 10+ minutes. Heat wasn't on in room. Thought we had turned on heat but after an hour it was still cold. After messing with thermostat for a while, went to front desk and she turned heat on from the computer! Many electrical outlets in room were off, as if conserving electricity was their priority.

I was completely satisfied with the Gettysburg Holiday Inn Express.
The check in/check out process was easy and self explanatory. The front desk staff exceeded our expectations! The front desk staff helped us with anything we needed, including toiletries, when we needed to buy extra food / drinks etc. The staff explained what the pool and fitness area hours were along with the free breakfast times. They were so friendly. The size of the room was perfect & the lighting was perfect. Breakfast was great as well, clean and organized! Housekeeping checked on us during our stay to see if we needed extra towels. Etc.

If I had to pick one thing, I would say that they should try to enforce the 9 person max in the pool. However, I know for a fact that can be very hard when there are families of 6+ and travel teams coming in from schools and states.

It’s location
I had up to Dec 10th to cancel and the took my money on the 9th of December. They said they don’t follow Booking.com rules for free cancellation. Plus they don’t follow anything of Booking. Then why are they on Booking?
I liked the location — great for dog walking. I loved the fact that the hotel accommodated dogs. I liked the warmth of the pool and the pool hours. I liked the breakfast.
I didn’t like the fact that the hotel told me because I went through Booking.com, that they couldn’t accommodate the close room request. I don’t like the fact that because I booked through Booking.com I don’t get a receipt for my stay; that I’m to expect a receipt through Booking.com — although Booking.com notes that the hotel provides the invoice. At one point I was trying to arrange over the phone, my daughter getting a key to my room, to check on our dog, but the hotel had me on hold for about 6 min before they hung up — and they did this TWICE!
Update: after calling the hotel this morning, they emailed me my invoice (not sure why they referred me to Booking.com when I requested one at checkout).
Location was fine. Breakfast was pretty good.
What concerned me was the rate we were charged. First night was fair, but the second night was double the first. Just because there was a reenactment seems odd. Not happy with this charge.
