Wonderful location, friendly helpful staff . Great that bus stopped outside the hotel, no need for car. Excellent food, good selection and help yourself breakfast and dinner had a great selection and very tasty with efficient service.
Stayed in heatwave and no air con or fans available. Guests having to pay service charge when having dinner. More outdoor furniture in the shade.
Breakfast was great. The grounds and location are lovely.
Location wonderful. The whole place needed refurbishing - gardens untidy and full of weeds pool dirty . Room adequate but overpriced. Staff lovely
It could have been looked after better - untidy gardens, parking inadequate the whole place needed refurbishing
The position.
The old fashioned room
This is an absolutely delightful hotel which with its old world charm provides a perfect relaxing break from busy lives. The views of the bay from the hotel main rooms are stunning and being only 5 mins walk to the beach a pre breakfast swim in the bay makes a great start to the day. I need a gluten and dairy free diet and I was spoilt for choice.
We arrived late afternoon and had to hunt for a parking space so maybe some redesign work in the car park would benefit during busy times. We did find a space .
This hotel is set in the most fantastic location and I can image in its hey day was superb. Sadly it is in need of serious investment to bring it up to modern standards. I understand that the owners are trying to secure planning to completely demolish, rebuild and renovate so it is entirely understandable that current investment would be minimal. The hotel is clean and the staff excellent, but the rooms are dated with thin walls! Breakfast was very good and our meal in the restaurant very pleasant.
I felt the price was a little on the high side considering the investment needed.
We liked the quirkiness & character of the hotel. We enjoyed the games rooms in the evening & the pitch & putt course during the day. Nice to be able to walk to the beach. The food was a very good standard & the receptionists were friendly & helpful.
We had booked a twin room but were given a very small double. Poor standard of facilities too. No other room was available that first night so we spent an uncomfortable night trying to sleep. Thankfully a twin room was available for the remaining 2 nights. The TV in the room had been tuned by a previous occupant so we had to retune it.
We didn't know until we got the bill on checkout that gratuities were charged on the evening meals & drinks from the bar, which was a shock.
Amazing spot near the beach. Several nice public rooms inc. a library, games room, lounge and bar
Courtyard room had no sound insulation was woken up really early each morning by television in next door room and also disturbed by birds nesting on the roof. Few things out of order, could do with some investment.
breakfast was very good, location was good.
room was tired as was the whole hotel and the car parking was very hit and miss
Location was excellent.
Breakfast was very good
Car parking was chaotic
Never had to elect room cleaning before, always done automatically at any hotel we've stayed at before. Having asked for room cleaning this didn't happen and we had to ask reception to ensure it was done on the last full day of a 4 night stay as we were out of toilet rolls and low on complimentary items such as tea etc.
Location and room arrangement- family ensuite
No Fan or window in bathroom
Half the items on menu were available when we booked a meal for 8.15 pm
We liked the old fashion feed, the history of it but it could be better shown and maintained. We liked the beach and surrounding area. Need to renovate the property while preserving its historic heritage.
Considering the cost of staying, the breakfast very basic and impersonal, they need to improve quality and service. It reminds us of a boarding house. The room was not the twin room with the same specification/layout and quality as shown on the Booking website when we booked. Also the pool area needs refurbishment as it is not maintained.
Restaurant good
Booked a sea room but this was misrepresented as main view was a wall.
Did request a change of room, was told not possible as full
Excellent location, clean room, some staff very friendly
Bit tired, not enough staff on reception and in the bar…
Excellent location. Friendly reception staff. Elemis products.
Desperately needs a refurb. Everything felt shabby around the edges, especially considering the cost.
Breakfast was Premiere Inn-style, no special touches. Even the bread for toast was very cheap, pre-sliced.
No WiFi in the Garden “Suites”
A very, very rude staff member who bit my head off when I asked to come in to breakfast a few minutes early.
Excellently doggy friendly. Fabulous breakfast. Tasty dinner. Wonderful location. Comfortable room.
Walk in shower in room 124 probably needs upgrading...tiles rather manky in places and i imagine very difficult to clean pristinely.
Otherwise the bathroom was great.
Fabulous location but dated
Very dated need some maintenance and modernisation
