Location
This property is very very old and is in need of significant modernisation. It feels like it stopped in time 50years ago and no maintenance work has been done- room door did not local, TV did not work etc etc..
The property has a quirky feel to it: it was clearly a very upmarket hotel in the past and, although is now in need of some renewed decoration, retains a quaint charm of the past.
Some things really do need updating - the spa facilities, for example.
Wonderful location. Pleasant, friendly staff. Nicely informal. Lovely clean, crisp sheets.
Water system challenging when taking a shower. Newspaper not delivered to my room and I wasn’t informed that it was there.
Pricing for dinner different to that on the website/ in publicity information.
The hotel is very relaxed and homely. The breakfast is of a very good standard. Quality ingredients and cooked very well. The atmosphere in the hotel very welcoming.
The bathroom was quite small, but it is an older hotel and so you accept these issues. The hotel is very dated, but for me, this added to the charm. This may not be for everyone.
Character. Location. Spa. Food.
Jacuzzi was closed.
Das Hotel ist extrem in die Jahre gekommen und dafür völlig überteuert. Wir waren einfach schockiert!
Room was ready and clean on arrival - Staff polite
Breakfast - Since the previous owners who sold the hotel on, the standard of breakfast is poor and disappointing.
Lack of fresh fruit - Lids on hot food often left off reducing the heat of the cooked food on display.
TV in room very small and remote VERY worn.
This is a quirky hotel which in certain respects sends you back in time, in a good way. The location is fantastic. It's a short walk away from beautiful beaches and a short drive from Swanage. We loved the family friendly atmosphere. The comfortable and informal feel of the place. There seemed to be a lot of history associated with the place. Staff were friendly and everything was clean. Breakfast was excellent. We would definitely return.
Nothing to add here. Enjoyed everything.
Its location and it was clean and comfortable
It was a bit ‘tired’ and needed decorating
The breakfast buffet was nice with a good selection of food. The jacuzzi and steam/ sauna rooms were decent as well, lovely for relaxing
Breakfast finished at 9:30 which i think is too early
Location was perfect
No room service
Fantastic location, lovely “old fashioned” style hotel. For a mid February break we had glorious weather. We will definitely stay again
Great location, close to the beach and further walking routes ,immediately from the hotel.Felt homely and comfortable.
Staff pleasant and professional .Swimming pool and also dogs welcome.Family friendly.
Good breakfast and plenty options available for dining .
Lovely view - but we paid extra for that. Room was spacious but dated. Beds comfortable. Lots of friendly and helpful staff. Lots of comfortable communal spaces. We were there in winter, but I imagine that the big outdoor pool is lovely in the summer - probably a great place for a family holiday as the beach is a short walk away and there are lots of activities to enjoy when the weather gets better.
Little extras that cost money that are not apparent on initial booking - e.g. to use the Jacuzzi was extra and overall very disappointing as not particularly hot and also the jacuzzi and plunge pool area are not very well maintained. Games room sounded fun on booking but when you get there you realise you have to pay extra to play air hockey or pool and although - the ping pong table was free there were bats but no balls! Hotel definitely in need of a revamp - very tired.
There was plenty of variety to suit everyone's tastes, the breakfast staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble.
The mattress I found it too hard!
