Pros:

Access problems with rather poor roads. Poor access to hotel Wifi. No basic information available in the rooms. Excellent schuttle but with an inexperienced driver.

Good airport hotel
Pros:

The Jet Hotel was nice stay on the way out of town. The rooms are functional, the bed was quite firm but that didn't seem unusual for Cameroon. A few notes: the air conditioner just has an on off switch but it works, the pool was quite nice but had a large party there so not exactly peaceful. The area immediately surrounding the hotel is not the best but I didn't spend much time in Douala so I can't give a true comparison to other areas. The hotel staff was somewhat insistent that we take cabs to / from the hotel and not walk anywhere, this is probably a wise decision but also there isn't much in immediate area from what I saw.

When I first arrived, staff was friendly and helpful. I reserved the family room because my parents were arriving at the airport in the evening. I scheduled the hotel shuttle (included with the room) to pick them up, no problems. I had paid online already for the room, so there was nothing more to be done.

Unfortunately, my parents missed their connecting flight, so in the evening I went to tell reception that I wouldn't need the shuttle until the next day. It was now the night staff, and the woman at the desk told me that the shuttle is only for one person, the person who pays for the room. I said I am paying double for the family room, so how is that not included? I asked if I was staying in a single room with my husband, would the shuttle only take one of us? She said yes. We argued for awhile, and eventually someone who I presume was a night manager said its OK they will pick up my parents and I don't have to pay more.

This morning, I went to the desk to ask to pay to stay a second night. The same woman told me that I had not yet paid the tax de sejour, 2500 francs a night. She said this was not included in the online price. While I may be able to believe this, I was extremely frustrated because it wasn't mentioned when I checked in, and it was the same woman who tried to charge for the free shuttle. I asked to change to a smaller room. She told me that there are no standard rooms available, a clear lie. In 24 hours here I have seen 3 other people.
