Homewood Suites By Hilton Charleston Historic District

My wife and I recently stayed at this property for 4 nights, and experienced some of the best customer service we’ve ever had at a hotel! Maddie and Ray at the bar were very welcoming and informative, and really made us feel like family. Alba at the front desk was very professional and courteous. But our biggest shoutout goes to Ashley at the front desk, who bent over backwards to accommodate our very unorthodox reservations situation!

The suite itself was very clean, spacious, and comfortable.

We plan to return, and will tell our family and friends about our wonderful experience there!

Location to King St was excellent, the staff at breakfast were very nice. Lots of breakfast options. The room was very spacious and clean.

Stayed for a week while visiting Charleston for pleasure. (Disclaimer: I paid with points as a frequent traveler.)
Pros
Great location. No need for a car, walking distance to several of the free city bus lines or <$10 Uber to all the popular sights/restaurants around the city. There is no where to park in the city anyway. The hotel charges $39/night to park.
Rooms are clean and have daily housekeeping available.
Breakfast is included. (Many hotels are slowly dropping breakfast recently)
Fast elevators.
Cons
Pillows are like sacks of cement. Maybe a personal thing, but both my wife and I hated them. Mattress was comfortable.
Evening reception was an embarrassment to the hotel. Two six by twelve inch boards of 50% broccoli, some salami , cheder cheese and bagel chips. The amount was about what I would put out for a party of four at home. The boards were empty within fifteen minutes and we never saw them refilled.

Overall a good stay considering you are in a popular city.

We’re greeted by a pleasant receptionist, Ashley, when we arrived. Which set the tone for our stay.

Comfortable room and nice morning breakfast.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Center where you can board a free city bus to downtown. We were also within walking distance from many restaurants and historical attractions.

Excellent customer service. Ashley was able to provide me with an early check/in, even when it was unexpected.

We stayed here for two nights in December 2025. Being a Homewood Suites we didn’t expect any type of refinement, etc. The staff was very curteous and kind. The location is ideal for Charleston if you are willing to walk half an hour. Room and hallways felt very much used/ abused. The carpets, draperies and room sofa are in serious need of replacement. There was nothing special about the breakfast, usual rehydrated eggs and an array of unhealthy breads, bacon/sausage, and pastries Unfortunately, after the breakfast hours the complimentary coffee was always cold.

Rates are pretty high for a Homewood Suites and then there is the need to park which adds a hefty valet charge to the bill. It’s unfortunate that Hilton has downgraded Homewood Suites for Hilton members, giving half the amount of points it once did. I think the price should reflect this change.

What an excellent hotel! Location is great as it is in between King and Meeting Streets. Steps away from shopping and dining. Hotel staff was very friendly. Nice hotel bar with reasonably priced drinks. Breakfast was delicious! Valet parking was a good price for the area and they were very quick with service.
