A stunning boutique hotel, beautifully decorated, the owner thought about everyt little detail.
Rooms are huge - the family room is amazing. Service was great . The place is the perfect gateway from the city
The Sri lankan hospitality from Kumudu is a 10/10. He is attentive, highly responsive and you know you are in good hands. All of our queries and requests were met with the utmost care and warmth. When we arrived at 8 pm in a very rainy Galle, he promptly offered to take us to Galle fort to pick up dinner. The tuk tuk service offered by Era is quite helpful and you are spared the hassle of travelling around the town with the probabilities of public transport. The property itself is set in a lush green environment and the outdoor showers are a nice touch. The breakfast on the balcony was amazing. The spread was simple, delicious and very fresh - we loved this part.
The property is more of a high quality homestay rather than a five star hotel. I had picked a five star to have the convenience of a restaurant, in room dining and some of the standard facilities that are common in a 5 star, and especially appreciated by families with young children. Getting to our rooms involved a climb on steep stairs that were slippery due to the rain- receiving a word of caution on some of these things would have been helpful. With my 3 year old daughter and my 80 year old mom it was a bit uncomfortable. However given the amazing warmth of the host and the efforts he made to make us comfortable, we stayed on and enjoyed the beauty of rainy Galle. The property has tremendous potential and I hope the host will transform it over time.
The lack of an onsite restaurant and flexibility of food and drinks on the property. Going out daily for meals shouldn't be a compulsion but a choice. Having a spa would be nice too. For a five star property the upkeep of the rooms should be way better - curtain not opening, broken arm rest at the seating area, no slippers or bathrobes, no tissue box in the rooms - some of these details could do with more attention. Same for the common areas.Housekeeping should not be on demand, it's a must. As the property was on renovation, some things were work in progress. While it gets the makeover it needs, keeping these elements away from sight would be more pleasant. The pool area also has a lot of potential.
We stayed here for the first 2 nights of our Sri Lanka trip as a family of 4 with 2 children age 10 and 8. The villa was perfect- just what we needed after a long flight. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept well. We loved the novelty of having an outside shower and our children loved spending time in the pool. Had a delicious breakfast served on the terrace. Kumudu was an attentive host and we would recommend getting the short tuk tuk ride with Era into Galle. Overall, we would highly recommend this place to stay.
It’s like an oasis in Galle. The host and staff were friendly and professional. The rooms were very clean and the pool area was perfect for a relax after a day exploring Galle.
The tranquil surrounds and the pool.
Ceylon Olive Galle is an oasis that you must visit. Superbly stylish overall construction giving spacious rooms. Attention to details is obviously imperative to Kamudu and he makes you feel soooooo welcomed. Once his Resturant is completed you will not need to leave the compound.
Nothing...................
The Ambience, courteous staff and an excellent host.
Sehr sympathischer Service und liebevoll eingerichtet
A nice and quiet guest house nested in a tropical garden with a pool. The family room was very large with 1 big and comfortable bed and 2 single beds. Both Kumudu and Era where very helpful and friendly.
The Tuk tuk service they propose is very convenient to get to the busy area of Galle Fort.
Everything. I cannot express in words how good our stay here was. Kumudu and his family were exceptional hosts. Era was a true hero, nothing was too much effort. The monkeys playing in the trees, literally just outside the balcony was the highlight of an amazing stay.
Nothing.
Excellent mix of home stay, farm stay and luxury. Large room, green all around, trees cover all windows, balcony, open huge bathroom. Pool was right under clear skies and tree covering all around. Ever responsive host (Shantha), with ultra high service standards. Whatever we wished for, he made it available within mins. We went for Sinharaja hike early morning, and he helped us with tea at 5:15am and amazing packed sandwiches for the trek!
Also, the location is so amazing. 10 mins from Jungle Beach and Galle fort, 1hr from Kanneliya Rainforest and 2hr from Sinharaja rainforest!
Monkeys - They arent agressive at all, infact they hide and were barely visible. But if you take the top most room, they do jump around the roof early morning (5am), thus creating a bit of sound. We are early wakers, so not much of hassle. If you sleep till late, dont take the top most room.
