Draughty windows in room need repair. Cups for tea/coffee were chipped, a few teabags for a whole weekend, a bit poor. Ordered food one night and it was terrible. Shame as staff and service was friendly.

Although the furniture was brilliantly in keeping with the building, some of it really needed some tending to.

Where to start on this, would never recommend. It was a complete hazard, the stairs were steep and my mother couldn’t climb them, extremely dangerous. Photos are not up to date at all! There was mould and damp in the one bedroom. Ground floor bedroom you couldn’t walk around as the base to the bed was bigger than the mattress. The floors were all uneven and made you feel like you were going to be sea sick. There were ANTS in the living room. There was no basics in the kitchen, couldn’t use the oven as no gloves were provided, no teaspoons. There was a lot of utensils were all dirty so we did not use those, what we were able to use we cleaned. The shower is ridiculous, how you expect people to shower here in comfort is crazy. The property outside was jet washed but did not clean up after themselves, the was tools left on the floor for people to injure themselves on, luckily the child was meant to attend didn’t. It felt like we were an after thought. Even the gate in the garden got blown down by the wind. The paint in this property is also peeling. I have photos of the mould and the lack of room in the bedroom, more than happy to provide these, ready for my refund.
You need to update your photos and sort out the cleanness and defects in this property. Look forward to hearing from you.

The room was next to a beer garden with loud noise until late

Mattress in downstairs bedroom was not good. Roll together. Don’t know about the children’s rooms. But they didn’t complain. But tired in places. But would stay again.

The room that we stayed in and other parts of the hotel that we saw clearly indicate that The Godwins is in much need of investment. Other than the exterior of the building, the photos that appear on Booking.com are rather judiciously taken and don't really provide an accurate impression of the reality of the interior. My main criticism is the lack of cleanliness in the the room in which I stayed. The carpet was not one on which I would have walked barefoot and the room did not appear to have been dusted for some considerable time. I can't exaggerate how dusty some parts of it were. In fact I took some photos at the time but deleted them after deciding to simply move on and not leave a negative review. However whilst not wishing to knock anyone struggling to run a business in these difficult times I've since changed my mind in this respect and have decided to leave a review. I hope that it's one that prompts the owners to reflect and improve rather than something that results in lost bookings
