Rila Hotel Borovets

Perfect experience as always!
It is one of our favorite places for winter vacation!
We were very satisfied this year too from the atmosphere at all!
Hotel Rila has top location, very kind staff, excellent services!
The conditions are very good for all seasons!

This is not the first time we have been guests at the hotel. Excellent service, friendly and smiling staff.
Hygiene is top notch. The location is very good, next to the slopes.

Clean, cozy, friendly, great view

This was our fifth year staying at the hotel for a family ski vacation, and we always enjoy it.
There are activities for kids (ours are 8 and 11), the food this year was very good, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the bar is excellent.
Rooms are clean and well-maintained.
A great choice for a family ski holiday — we’re happy to keep coming back.

The good parts:
*Room was clean and had everything you need including fridge
*Spa is excellent
*Terrace Bar is a lovely place for a drink and the staff were friendly
*Half board option was good although we chose to eat later when it was a bit quieter
*ski hire and storage facility is great, it’s a good location for both sets of slopes

The not so good:
*had booked a slope view and was given a room above the main road, reception were incredibly rude and unhelpful about it on the first night, although guest relations did resolve it on the second day and we got a room move
*the noise is REALLY bad. Both from the bars outside and also from the groups of children inside. I had to use earplugs and noise doesn’t normally bother me
*trying to get a drink with dinner is impossible, we had to go back to the front desk on day 1 to ask for service and then just stuck to water the rest of the week as no-one would make eye contact
*you can’t get a seat in the lobby bar in the evenings. People just seem to be reserving seats but not drinking.

We’ve been to Borovets multiple times and decided to treat ourselves to the Rila… next year we’ll be going back to an apartment for 1/4 the price but a decent nights sleep!

We have just returned from a week at the Rila Hotel. We opted for half board and wouldn’t do it again as the evening meal was dreadful every night
Two family member got upset tummies so we dined out in the evening
We had to buy water from the local markets as no bottles of water provided.
We had the same sheets on the beds for the week which was a shame even though the room had been tidied and bathroom cleaned with fresh towels
We only got two sachets of coffee and some mornings had none as they had forgotten to leave some
The rooms were spacious and warm and in general the hotel is spotless with a great service in the ski lobby area and location is great.
Lobby area nice if you could get a seat!!

We chose this hotel as knew it was in a great location in Borovets ie near to the slopes/restaurants/bars and had rooms that overlooked the slopes, with lots of amenities.
Room was big and always warm, with a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. Only downside was that there was no safe, however you could rent these near to reception. We had a signature slope view and glad we paid the extra for the view.
We used the spa once, pool was a bit cold but jacuzzis and sauna/steam rooms were really good.
We didn’t use the lobby bar as it was always busy but it had a DJ/bands on each night and instead we went to the terrace bar or went out to other bars.
Didn’t realise they had a little casino with various slots as well as an added extra.
We used the boot/ski room as had hired our skis from elsewhere but it was really good,’staff were friendly and did everything as quick as they could - peak times for being busy was around 10am and then at 5pm.
The food for us was our only downside - breakfast buffet was fine, suited different nationalities and there were things for children and you got your own hot drinks but the food was never very warm ie scrambled eggs/beans were under a hot plate but never hot. The evening meal was simply not great - again the food was never hot, the hot plates didn’t seem to do much and leaving pieces of pizza out on a board, where there were only ever a few at a time just got cold. For the size of the hotel, the choice wasn’t very big and similar food each night. You hardly saw anyone behind the hot plates, very occasionally someone would come out but on being to numerous hotels before, if food is running out, it’s quickly replenished but not here.
On our first night, someone asked us what drinks we’d like and so we had wine (to note these are half bottles of wine 375ml not standard 750ml) but after our first night we were never asked by anyone if we wanted a drink ie not one member of staff came up to our table and asked, so we had water for the remaining visits.
Overall the hotel is really good and due to all the good points, would stay again but only with breakfast and go elsewhere for dinner.

We have just returned to the UK from a fabulous stay at the Rila Hotel Borovets a perfect location for ski in ski out. This was our second visit to the Rila we returned because we enjoyed it so much last year. the facilities are excelent the staff are very engaging helpful and knolegeable. its a comfortable clean freindly atmosphere. We hope to return next January 2027.

Great location!! 10/10 service. Good food. Good vibes. Clean rooms, good value for the price!

We were on a family trip/vacation. The hotel is perfectly organized, starting from the parking, which is huge and included in the price of the stay. There is a ski depot for the hotel guests with their own equipment, and also a ski rental place with very good equipment. The hotel has 2 spots for byuing a ski tickets, you can buy the tickets before going on the slopes. The whole atmosphere is excellent, bar in the lobby has entertainment every evening for better enjoy of your drinks. Rooms are clean, spacious, and modern. Also, the pool and the spa is perfect for enjoying after the ski activities, and there are fun activities for the youngest guests. Food is continental, with various choices and tasty. The Staff is very helpful and makes you feel welcome.
Excellent hotel, and I can't say that there was something that i didn't like.
I totally recommend it!

It simply deteriorated.

Great hotel staff and everything there was fabulous from the span sauna hammam to pool and jacuzzibto the breakfast dinner ski slopes ...everything at your fingers .perfect hotel and location .great place BRAVO Rila

Hello , wish you "A happy new year!" full of Success and most important "snow".
We had a wonderful stay, good location close to the slopes, with very good quality accommodation and food. Excellently organized festive meal/ event and with an attractive program. We would have liked more music, both local traditional and international as well as greater availability and a longer program for those interested in dancing. Good luck and we will return on the next occasion.

Great location for the slopes and central to outside bars and restaurants.
The staff were helpful, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, especially in the Champions Bar. The Seasons Restaurant was self service for breakfast & evening meal with a wide choice in all areas. The spa was excellent and well used after skiing.
Our room, The Signature Room, was a good size, comfortable with an excellent service by the Room Attendants.
Will definitely consider staying here again and would certainly recommend it to others.

A large group of us stayed at the Rila for a week over New Years. This was our second trip to Borovets but our first to the Rila.
The hotel is gorgeous, and very clean. The breakfast and dinner options are varied, even for a vegetarian. They have an extensive and excellent cocktail menu, the Tiger Legend and Espresso Martini were the highlights . The food and drink was far more reasonable than expected. And the comfort and aesthetics of the hotel was warm and cosy.
The lobby bar was always busy and we sometimes struggled to get a table. This was a big frustration for everyone in the group as a lot of tables were taken up by one person holding the entire table and seats with jackets and bags. There was no drinks on the table and nobody joined them for over an hour, or at all. This happened on
Many occasions across different days, and at different times. When we asked the staff, both area manager and bar staff we were met with a shrug of the shoulders. This was a huge negative for us. It’s understandable if the bar is busy with people but many tables being held for people who never came was unusual and the lack of help from the staff felt careless and lazy.
There was one stand out member of staff, I didn’t get her name but her warmth, and customer care was outstanding. She had long brown hair, that was shaven underneath. She was working most days. She went out of her way to help wherever she could. I wish I got her name, cause she deserves a shout out. I seen her handle other customers with the same smile and understanding she showed us. 10/10 for service from her.
Unfortunately our group did not feel that most of the Rila staff were friendly or helpful. The bar men were unduly rude, all of the staff in the Terrace bar were poorly trained. At times it felt like they didn’t want to take orders or be paid. It was a bizzare experience given we were ordering both food and drink regularly while we were seated.
The lady who cleaned our room, we stayed in 143 was very helpful and kind. She greeted us every morning with a smile.
Also, the man that worked in the Samokovi restaurant the night of NYE was so warm and friendly.
On the whole our stay was good, but the hotel is let down by staff who don’t provide an enjoyable customer experience.

This is our third visit to Borovets and I just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff at Hotel Rila and especially the animation team (Ellie, Ivo & Ani). Our twin boys have been thoroughly entertained over the past week and we’ve had a lovely time on the slopes. This is a great destination for families!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were spacious and clean. We stayed on a half-board basis, and both breakfast and dinner were reasonable.

Points for improvement:
First of all, five days before our arrival we discovered that, contrary to the weather forecast, there was no snow at all. We asked to shorten our stay from four nights to three nights — overall, a reduction of just one night — but the hotel refused. While we understand that the hotel is not responsible for the snow conditions, from a fairness standpoint it would have been reasonable to refund us for one night, as there is very little to do in the area when there is no snow.

In addition, the heated pool was very cold — genuinely cold. We were unable to use it at all.

At breakfast, the bread served was extremely hard — to an unacceptable degree and not suitable for serving.

The dinners were generally reasonable, but the vegetarian options were dry and unappealing. On one evening, when there were very few guests in the hotel, the dinner was reduced to an absolute minimum, which made us feel somewhat misled.

That said, the less visible service staff — a very kind maintenance worker and smiling housekeeping staff — contributed greatly to a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

The hotel itself as the environment inside gives you a very warm and positive vibes, the wooden interior of the lobby and rooms is very satisfying and gives comfort that you don't get in most hotels. Our stay was in a period without snow, rainy and foggy but anyway the environment around the hotel is nice to walk there are gift shops, markets and restaurants. Also there is a path to the near forest that is very natural and green to walk and enjoy. The hotel offers very delicious food, there is a lot of great wine (paid) and the cocktails in the lobby-bar are very refreshing. The hotel has a very good spa including a big interior pool, small kids warm pool and great hot jacuzzi. The room was very comfortable with a big wardrobe, including a small refrigerator, coffee set and rest of clothes. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and every day the room was cleaned and towels changed as needed, it has a small desk, TV and mirror. The best part is the bathrobes for spa, that saves you space in baggage (you don't have to carry from home). The staff was very kind and helpful when needed. There is private parking for the hotel guests with plenty of space so this is one of the big plus for the hotel.

I would not say I don't like it, I will say there is more room for improvement.
- The pool area - maybe the big pool shall be warmer because many people avoid it so they go to a smaller pool and jacuzzi in warmer temperature so it gets crowded a bit. There is nothing bad in the pool area; it is warm and clean.
- The guests in the hotel - maybe giving the guest hand bands and different types of groups of guests, shall be separated for breakfast and diners so the guest won't mix and the restaurants won't be crowded sometimes.
- The arcade game room - some of the stuff doesn't work and there is none to ask for help in the room. This is not essential but can be better.
- Nothing more.

Such an amazing place. It has everything you need and more.

We have stayed here twice when on a ski holiday and both occasions have been equally great!

The staff are helpful, the rooms are always clean and made up. There is a great selection of food, so everyone can find something to eat!

The location is ideal for skiing, you are right at the bottom of the slopes! The pool and spa area is sublime! But the real showstopper is the bar area, with an open fire and live music! Couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Lovely hotel and helpful staff. Can't wait to come back. The food was great, rooms were cosy and clean. The children enjoyed the pool.
