Sunset Del Mar Resort

We had a great time at Sunset del Mar hotel a few weeks ago. The staff was super friendly, the rooms very comfortable and spacious, the kids had a great time at the pool, and the food at the restaurant was delicious. The beach is wide open and really great for walking or playing in the sand. The ocean waves are strong but with a bit of being careful, one can enjoy the water, as well. All around, a great place to go on vacation!

Beautiful resort type hotel with super comfortable villas. Right in a great swimming beach, plus a nice pool. Restaurant is fantastic. My second time staying here, will definitely be back!

The hotel is well maintained, but the pool was not usable during our stay. I think the pump broke the day prior. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was okay, but not as good as it has been in the past. The

It is a beautiful place.. very spacious outside and inside the rooms and right on the beach. The staff was very helpful.. especially Wendy at the desk who helped me prepare to have a big party there later in June.
The free breakfast was delicious and so was lunch and dinner.

Great beachfront location, incredibly helpful staff. But the hotel seems to be struggling to survive.
Dinner was inexpensive, but not memorable in any way. The included breakfast was somewhat better.
Deferred maintenance issues abound. We couldn't lock the door to our first room, and there was no-one to repair it. The list, unfortunately, goes on.

The place was nice but the rooms has stuff broken and no one to repair or care for it. It was so rundown and terribly understaffed by people who were bad but didn’t really care. They promised us a $300 refund and never sent it. So I come back now and again to recall our experience and warn others. It doesn’t get my money back but at least there is a cost for their dishonest behavior.

Staff was kind, room was clean, and breakfasts tasty, however site overall not well maintained. Beach chairs had driftwood jammed in the backs to keep them upright, garden beds and flower pots were full of weeds, the area under the foot wash by the beach was a mud puddle (a second foot wash wasn't working), and just from the pool area we counted 28 burned out or missing light bulbs. While chatting with another couple by the pool, the lounge chair the husband (an average sized man) was sitting on collapsed under him.

The most relaxing vibe ever. The staff were warm and welcoming. The pool was terrific and the sunsets were so memorable.
The restaurant and the chef provided fresh and delicious meals. Nice to have a home cooked breakfast every day included.
Lots of birds, iguana.
If you want to explore a bit you may need a car as there currently is no taxi service that you do t have to arrange in advance.

A rare hidden gem! Beautiful property, Beautifully pool, Beautiful beach, wonderful staff. The owner was present and very attentive to our needs. Great value. I will share this place with all of my friends and family! Clean. Welcoming. Definitely coming back!

If you are looking for a quiet place with no mass tourism with nice beaches and true tropical feeling, this is it! Relaxing at a nice small pool under palm trees, listening to the nearby Pacific Ocean, drinking perfectly made cocktails and enjoying one of the most stunning sunsets we ever have seen. Staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming. This place is absolutely recommendable.

Great location, comfortable rooms and friendly staff

I stayed at the resort for 5 evenings and can thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a very relaxing few days. I particularly enjoyed the friendliness of the staff all the way from the manager to the bar/ restaurant, reception and cleaning staff. Everyone was very friendly and courteous. The accommodation allocated was very comfortable and spotlessly clean (cleaned every day). The pool area was large with sufficient space for all those who wished to use it. The gym was well equipped. I ate in the restaurant each evening and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was provided and a wide range of options available. The hotel / resort sits directly on the beach (fine sand no stones) and it excellent for walking several miles in each direction.👍 The nearest shops are 2 miles away (30 minute walk) or 10 mins if you have a car. If you don’t have access to a car then your only option in order to get to the resort is a taxi from either Jaco or Quepos which will cost approx $50 from Jaco. To summarise a very enjoyable and relaxing stay which I would heartily recommend.

Roberto is the best hotel employee I have ever experienced. His service and pride in his work is top notch. The beds were very comfortable too. A well equipped gym was included and breakfast was complimentary. I recommended this hotel because of how relaxing and private it was.

The service was amazing at the sunset Del Mar the workers made us feel very welcomed. The beach on the resort was very private and made me feel a peace with a breathtaking view, amazing sea shells, and the privacy at the beach. The beach was nothing like I have ever seen where when you looked out, you couldn’t see land for miles and it made me feel very secluded and it’s an experience i’ve never had. The wildlife that surrounded me and my family was amazing from sloths to iguanas to beautiful birds! Roberto the operations manager gave me and my family the best service I have ever gotten! He made me and my family's New Year's Eve special! Me and my family had the best New Year's Eve with the fire works Roberto set up, the work him and his staff put in, the amazing food, and the DJ. Thanks to Roberto who was always there for my family and I during our trip I can now say the sunset Del Mar was my favorite part of my Costa Rica travels.
