We spent a long weekend in Gyor for the first time in February this year and I found the hotel over a Hungarian bonus website. The location is just amazing on Chaplain's Hill, near the Bishop's Castle and the Gyor Cathedral, at the edge of the historical center.

The hotel had something of a faded charm and elegance to it. Check-in went quickly and the staff was nice with us.

Our rooms were completely okay, my wife and I got one of the apartments, No. 22. Total hit, irrespective of the furniture, which is rather vintage and one of the windows, which couldn't be closed properly. TV blew my mind away. The TV of my mother's room was an older piece though. Channel selection quite limited, but okay for watching in the evening. If you come to Hungary, expect minimal foreign channels though.

Breakfast and dinner was perfectly fine, limited in choice, but enough for our needs. We're not particularly picky. If you're staying for longer, you might get bored of breakfast...

Wellness area included a swimming pool (about 1.6 m deep all around) and a sauna. Used both, found them great. They rent the area out for kid's events, so you can expect limitations on your evening visits. Nonetheless, it's the first place in Hungary I've seen to have the area open until 22:00. Every other hotel I"ve been to, closes it at 20:00, or at 21:00 best case. Big plus for that!

All in all, it was a good experience.

Well...Konferencia Hotel is situated in the center of the old town, some minutes walk from the main railway station. Hotel interior is in socialist style, some parts are a bit shabby. Rooms are huge with comfortable beds, equipped with balcony, there´s also some TV with varied channels. There´s also some small pool. Staff was very friendly and professional with quite good English. Breakfast and dinner were very good, with fresh food and a bit limited choice.

On the pictures the rooms look quite ok, in reallity they are in a shape that is not ok. If I had arrived earlier (arrived 1.30 om the night) I would have changed to other place.

When we arrived we should have known...
Dated front desk with dirty carpets on entry. We had the Suite booked and arrived in our room number 9 in the first floor. On opening the door I felt thrown back 50 years, everything was old and dated. The carpets were stained and dirty, the wood was rotten and had rips and mold on it. The bathroom had a bathtub, but no shower curtain or wall, so you could not stand having a shower as the water would have gone everywhere. The main window was broken and a piece of plastic covered the hole. There was dirt and food remains everywhere. The shelfs and drawers had food in them and under table and sofa were remains from ...?? who knows when. Breakfast had no butter, just margarine and no boiled eggs. All in all very poor Hotel and they do not deserve even 1-star. Who gave them 4-stars ? Must have been from 100 years ago without anyone checking up. I am seldom so angry, but this place charged over €85 Euros and the sofas felt so dirty that I did not even taske my cloth off to sit on them. DISGUSTING !!!

A bit old fashioned and dark and stuffy rooms but nice staff and plenty of breakfast (regular buffet).
The indoor pool is useful to take a splash, for exercising it is a bit small.
The location is awesome , in the middle of the old town pedestrian zone. Next to dome-

Hotel in ottima posizione. Assolutamente in centro.
Per entrare in macchina bisogna seguire le indicazioni che abbassano la colonnina per il centro (basta citofonare e dire che si ha una prenotazione).
Colazione buona, ma mancante un po' del dolce (come gli altri hotel provati in Ungheria).

We stayed there because of a wedding and had an ordeal upon arrival. Reception called a few days in advance that they were overbooked and offered a staff residence twice the size of the suite we booked claiming it had the same level of comfort. It turned out to be a flat lie.
Arrived and found ourselves in a filthy, smelly apartment accessible via the kitchen corridor with no air-conditioning but a coverless ventillator representing a life hazard (with 2 kids in tow).
We of course said no an insisted on an alternative. Half an hour later they somehow managed to give us the family suite we ordered (probably found another victim) and it was somewhat better but extremely far from four star.
Like many said above, the place is ready for serious renovations and cleaning.
They also seemed seriously understaffed. Food was average. Pool OK. Location great.

The best days of this hotel are long gone and it's in a dire need of renovation and deep cleaning, what you can beat though is the location in the heart of Gyor. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, pleanty to choose from and the service was very good.

We found the hotel quite easily, and the reception staff looks ok (but gave us incomplete information). The hotel's swimming pool and sauna are open day and night but there are times when the pool was occupied by other people renting it, so we had to wait until they are done. Little kids should really be supervised while in the pool because it is deep, and there's no space for really small kids to play water on their own. I am also not sure if they have any play area, as we didn't see any! (contrary to the description that it is a kid friendly hotel).
The food on our first night was not really good, there were only 2 types of meal, no salad, it was dry, and the dessert was awful. The next day was better, breakfast/dinner buffet was good. The following day, Oh!!! Looks like everybody left (there was only us and another couple) so, they just offered the food on our table. It was terrible!!! I had stomach problem 😕 i suspect it was due to the mushroom stew prepared from leftovers. The next morning, breakfast buffet was almost empty and noone checked wheter there's food or not, even if there are still people coming in. Furthermore, the coffee machine also lacked water, and the tea tasted like soap. Terrible!!! If you already booked your stay here, be prepared of their inconsistent service 😆 The only good thing here is the location.

A very pleasant hotel in a quiet street with solid services. A good indoor pool as well.

The hotel was built probably in the ’80s, so it has an outdated design, but it is large and interesting. Our three bed apartment was really spacious and clean with a big bathroom and a balcony. The hotel is located in a historic centre of the city just behind the fabolous Basilica. There is a parking lot in front of the hotel, which is not free, it’s 4 euros per night. Don’t miss to use the free sauna and pool of the hotel. You have to ask the receptionist to heat on the sauna an hour before you plan to use it. The breakfast is very delicious and various.

Excellent location in the heart of the city, has a parking, friendly stuff, large spacious, clean rooms, pool and sauna was included in the price. Breakfast was excellent. A bit dated decor, from the socialist era, when it had to be very luxurious

We stayed here for 2 nights. Older hotel, but the pool and sauna was nice. The room was not cleaned, we found out that there were a chummy gum on tea bag. Staff informed us that we can use their wellness nonstop even at night. Average breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately staff doesn't speak English, recepcion quite ok, but waiters doesn't speak english at all. We had a room at the grandfloor an there were really noisy.Young adults were sitting on our window at night so we cant sleep.

The hotel is from socialism, as evidenced by its appearance and interior. In the past the hotel had to be very luxurious, it is a very large area. Some reviews have troubled me, but we were pleasantly surprised. You have to expect the fact that the hotel is older, but everything else and important works. All clean, tidy and good breakfast as well. There is also a swimming pool and a sauna in the hotel. The only minus was noisy heating and cold in the bathroom. Otherwise, we liked it. :)

Very old, poor breakfast, old furniture, small tv, can’t sleep at Friday Night.
I was complaining at 3h30, in the reception said it’s party night, we send a email warning.

I stayed here in the low season of 2017, upon arrival, which was very late in the evening after a Journey From Paris that morning via Train, My Wife and I were met with a very unfriendly Receptionist who didn't even make eye contact, or wish to speak to us, she barked (despite our tiredness) that what our names were (thankfully the receptionists on the following days were more helpful and respectful), she halfheartedly slammed our room key on the desk and pointed abruptly to the general direction of the room.

When we arrived to the room, it was outdated, very dusty and dark with random dank light fittings , the only plus side was it had a bath, although every time the toilet was flushed, a strong smell of sewerage permeated through the room, as to be expected, the bed was very "Post-Communist" in style and comfort, overly soft, the pillows were very soft and non-supporting (I had a neck ache for a week following), the heating system was very old as well and only had 2 settings, on and off, and as it was early April, it was still cold, but we could not leave the heating on due to the lack of any air flow in the room.

The hotel was noisy as well, as it has a swimming pool, seemingly they rent it out to local schools, so on the 2nd day we had 50-60 children running past our door at 9am,

The positive parts of our stay were it's central location to the Gyōr, the Cleaning staff were very respectful, the other Receptionists were very Helpful and Respectful.

I stayed here for two nights but was disappointed with the overall experience. Front desk were very pleasant and helpful, breakfast was fine but the room was a let down. Carpets, walls and furniture were all dated and scuffed and there was a strange array of different electrical connections and sockets. Also, shower was very small and didn't drain well. As it was January the hotel was quiet and I might have expected them to allocate their better rooms to guests - I really hope this wasn't one of their better rooms.

We got a great large apartment deal at this hotel for a 2 night stay in Gyor. The premises are dated re decor but clean and well appointed. Facilities on site are good. We had safe storage for our bikes. Our deal included breakfast which was ok, pretty typical of what we've been experiencing in Europe over the last 6 weeks. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Location to local shops and eateries is exceptional. The room was very quiet. Would stay again.
