The place is very quiet and has a relaxed feel to it. Quite rustic. The staff did not speak any english so check in was tricky. After we got settled in the room we did meet the owner who did speak english and he made us feel very welcomed.
This is a beautiful property, and could be so much more with just a little thought. Most of the staff are lovely. The grounds are stunningly peaceful and the the gardens are lovely.
The setting is AMAZING. Beautiful scenery and grounds. The bungalow was comfortable with modern amenities. The reception staff were lovely. But there was absolutely nothing going on at the residence, no bar atmosphere, the bar staff have no English knowledge at all we had to open our own bottles of beer and we physically couldn’t order a second beer as the lady had no clue what we were saying when we asked for “one more beer” she just laughed at us. The room wasn’t cleaned the second night And the whole place felt very strict and just quiet and strange. It’s such a shame as the grounds have so much potential and the kayaking on the river was great. The so called restaurant didn’t have a single person in each night and no menus or anything it was very confusing. I assume this is a community of locals which I think it should just stay that way as they don’t seem to know how to cater for guests and tourists. We spent most of our time out in kampot town which is a $5 tut tut away or at the next doors villa vedici which I wanted to book originally but missed out as it was fully booked. If you are looking for pure peace and serenity and are happy to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but sit on your terrace or kayak then this is the place for you!
The staff were really helpful and tried to accommodate us in any way they could. However, the "Hotel" is quite distant from the city center, and I think the price is too high for an accommodation of such limited amenities. The hotel is not properly advertised. It should be clear that the rooms are wood cabins and partly open to the elements. This is not agreeable to everyone and needs to be clearly stated. The hotel is located down an unlit gravel track, which is not easy to walk down in the pitch black. The staff are kind and helpful, but our stay was unpleasant because hotels.com did not correctly advertise this accommodation.
Beautiful location - slightly off the beaten track but very traquile....Clearly the owners haven't been in the hotel business before though and the look / feel suggests that this concept has been copied from elsewhere...a 2 star hotel complex at best and should be in the $20 - $25 per night range... (we paid $80+ per night..!) - we decided to breakfast elsewhere after sampling the fares in the restaurant. Plastic plants on your balcony, price stickers still on everything including the plastic chairs and poor quality fittings probably says all you need to know. We won't be going back I'm afraid....
