An absolute shocker of a place! Didn’t stay.
This is, quite frankly, the worst “hotel”, I have ever had the misfortune of stepping into.
The lady who booked me in was lovely! Very friendly and polite.
That was the only good thing. Apart from her, in my opinion, the place is the worst hotel I have ever stepped into.
The place is in, what looks like, the extension of a local social club (think Phoenix nights without the funny side!). First impressions were bad! It smelled dreadful, was dirty, apart from the lady booking me in, the staffing was not exactly “hospitable”. I was out within an hour and will never return.
If you are considering the place, maybe have a rethink. It’s grim!
As I stepped into the “hotel”, section there was a distinct musty smell. Really dated!
I got to my room, the mirror smashed, brown stain on the blinds and the laminated flyers had stuck to them, what I presume to be, old food waste.
I asked to check out where the lad, who appeared to be the supervisor, insisted that I view another room or have my current room cleaned.
He offered a drink whilst this happened but I had a distinct lack in confidence surrounding the hygiene of the place, so declined.
The second room was slightly better but still dirty with some sort of, what appeared to be, black mould around the windows.
I left without staying.
The guy running the place said that he wasn’t allowed to give refunds and it would be down to head office. He gave me their details but no email addres
Dirty noise snooker club with rooms above
Stayed for one night and the phrase “you get what you pay for” really does sum it up well.
Was a last minute booking as needed a nearby room and at £40 for the night thought I couldn’t go wrong.
The bed, well could feel every single spring finally get to sleep and woken up at 6.30am by banging of multiple other room doors.
Really cheap. The room was clean and smelt clean but there was damp in it.
The area is really noisly with a motorbike driving around until around 2am. Guest were also noisy in the rooms next to me at both sides which isnt really the hotels fault but they were up until 3am so not the best nights sleep.
It was dirty we had paid for two nights but checked out on the Saturday afternoon wasn't going to stay on the Saturday night spoke to the manager who said that he'd look into it he apologised but offered no refund also no remote control for the television we asked a member of staff on Friday evening just said it was in the room but it wasn't and didn't seem interested in trying to help.
The club had a DJ on all evening with music being played so loud that the window and bedroom walls were constantly vibrating. This continued till 12:30 am. Carpets were dirty and had a dreadful smell. The half used toilet roll provided had clearly been wet at some point as a water stain was clearly visible. Room had no bin. Bathroom had cobwebs and large spiders. No light shade. Had to sleep on top of my own towels as feared for my health using bedding provided. Hotels.com should ban this hotel from their site as it does your reputation no good. I would have felt safer and more comfortable sleeping on a park bench.
Needs some maintenance done but quiet location and good breakfast. Ok for a single night stopover
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The food was nice and good value.
However , the room was extremely dated. The outside of the windows were filthy. The bed was shocking , you could feel every spring. A work colleague slept in a different room and could not sleep for the same reason.
Homelestky , avoid this place at all costs.
For a quick overnight stay this place was more than adequate, we were in town to see a show. There were some minor issues such as the only mirror in the main room was broken, the window which led onto a small roofed area did not lock (I forgot to report this ), no mirror in the bathroom or hanging rail for towels, bedside table drawers broken. Also, the beds could have been firmer but I know some people like mattresses you really sink into. It was pretty clean but maybe a little rundown. Quieter at night than I expected but we did get in very late. Parked in their car park but it's not very big so I don't think guests will always get a Space. Took a while to find a member of staff to hand the keys back to at checkout. Overall a good experience for somewhere to lay your head.
Staff awesome, rooms basic but cheap and did the job, its low budget so not the Grand, Staff we spot on no drama there.
Got what we paid for, can't complain and staff were nice.
Outdated, not clean, damp, black mould in bathroom and uncomfortable beds.
Plain and simple check in , staff spot on
Room rather shabby very dim lighting & overall quite chilly,ok for the price we paid but doubt would retain
Reasonable for the price, but the shower had black mould and we were given conflicting information about breakfast availablity. You get what you pay for.
The smell from the beds the very old sunken mattresses. The mould in the shower. The bathroom floor wet. And like no fresh air had ever been in that room
Could do with refurbishment and the beds were uncomfortable, but you get what you pay for and it was very reasonable
The staff were lovely. But the room was dirty stained mattress, dead moth in draw, dirt behind the bed
Check-in was a bit strange. Even after I paid previously via hotels.com they insisted I had not paid and proceeded to take the money from a card they said they had in there system. The card was not mine so I don't know who's card has been used to take the amount of £40.80 because out room was £44.16 both strange unusual amounts.
We was given the key and directions to our room and off we went. On entering the room we noticed the old musty smell immediately, the first thing we did was open the windows to let some air in and spray perfume around the room.
Looking around the room it was unkept and dirty, definitely in need of a refurb and a cleaner would have been nice.
The bathroom was mouldy and window sills was dirty with cob webs all over the room in corners, on doors and on picture frames etc.
There was holes in the wall , the headboard was hanging off the wall with holes on one side. The bed was like lying on metal springs directly, it was uncomfortable felt like it was only 10cm deep.
The noise from the neighbours started at around 3.30am. shouting loudly all around the building, outside the room and down the hallway. It continued for around an hour and was several people.
Basic but friendly staff, not a place to stop for a holiday but great if you want a overnight stay
