Excellent communication and stay great food for evening meal and breakfast great sleep easy parking

Had a great nights sleep at the Thistle.
Spotlessly clean, warm and a very comfortable bed.
The area around the inn is quiet and there is plenty of parking.
Communication from Michelle was great, giving easy instructions for check in.
Room was warm, spacious, a good shower and even had a fridge!
Breakfast was fantastic and freshly cooked.
10/10, will definitely stay when next in the area.

The Thistle Inn was the perfect stop for the night. We were greeted by the owner and the room was cool and quiet. Exactly what we needed after a long drive.
Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious. Michelle is very pleasant and enjoyed talking about the area with great recommendations for other places to visit.

Our hostess was delightful very helpful and made us very welcome. We had dinner in the bar which was excellent as was breakfast. Great overnight stay thanks.

The accommodation was very clean and tidy. The bed linen smelled so clean and fresh, and beds were comfortable. We had a lovely breakfast in a lovely dining room

Sound insulation from adjacent rooms could have been better.
We were advised less than an hour before arrival that the pub and restaurant would be closed that evening due to a family event, so we’d have to eat in Castle Douglas. No problem but the recommendations were all full - it would have been really nice if the Thistle Inn had offered to book a table for us. It must be stressed that this was a one off and doesn’t reflect normal service.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming.

Stayed one night in triple room on road trip around Dumfries & Galloway. Room clean and comfortable with a microwave and fridge a bonus. Only negative was lack of electric sockets, although this was not really problematic. Staff extremely helpful and friendly and with a good cooked breakfast. Parking was also easy. Would stay again.

I stopped here, as I was ill. The staff made me lemon herbal drink and brought it to my room, they very kind to me. The Anex room was basic but Very reasonably priced for a room with bathroom

Great little village inn. The proprietor and chef Michelle was welcoming and friendly. The attached restaurant was delicious. We had a beautiful dinner and Scottish breakfast the following morning. You definitely get a great glimpse of village life in this friendly little village pub. The room was clean and comfortable. You will enjoy it here! Thank you for your lovely Scottish hospitality.

This room (or at least the one we had which was a sort of loft conversion, accessed by metal plane style stairs) was absolutely fine either for people who are absolutely fit and mobile and on a budget, or people staying one or two nights only.

We were only booked for one night and that was fine. The metal stairs are slippery in the rain BUT the owners in showing us up to the room helped carry cases etc. It is not difficult but if you have any mobility challenges, be sure to ask for ground floor room.

Bathroom was shower, loo, small sink - very clean and some in room toiletries also provided which was a nice touch. Our room had several beds and I think was the family room, which makes it ideal for some groups, but as a couple we'd have preferred one larger double bed - however, we had to book this fairly late in our planning, it was the only room available and it was really well priced for the area.

Food downstairs in the pub is nice, my tip would be stick to the classics like the burgers and lasagna. More ambitious looking dishes like the scallop and black pudding starter were OK but felt less good in terms of value for money - I had burger envy of my husband's choice! Staff cannot do enough for you and given how tiny the place is in terms of two or so people running the bar, kitchen and dealing with on site accommodation queries they do a smashing job. Our breakfasts in the morning were DELICIOUS.
