Oporto Home River Front

Space was definitely not cleaned properly, there was a sock from a previous guest on the floor and hair on the pillows.
Location of property is good, water front and lots of options for dining. Communication with the host was okay.. no sheets on the pull out couch even though they knew we had kids and needed the extra bed, but host brought some in a timely manner.

Overall, not impressed and would not recommend. Definitely overpriced for what you get.

There was some miscommunication about the room number. The instructions were in Portuguese and the sign on the door was English so I was trying to get into the wrong room. Also, dropping the luggage off at the office instead of the room location on early arrival was a bit of an inconvenience especially if you are not familiar with the city. Also, I was not informed ahead of time of the cleaning fee nor the charge for the wine and snacks. I thought they were complimentary as there was no notice otherwise.

The location of this property is outstanding. So close to all the restaurants and bars, but still really quiet. Outstanding views of the river, literally couldn’t be better. Just be careful when booking as some rooms have no view. The building is stunning.
Sadly there were a few minor things that could easily be rectified but clearly management aren’t listening or reading reviews! Firstly directions to property are incorrect. The door is directly next to Bacalhau restaurant. Down alleyway and turn right not left. How hard is it to get correct? No lighting in foyer at night is annoying. No linen or towel change for 8 days! Disgusting! They wanted to charge 10€. When paying such a huge amount for accommodation I would expect at least 1 free change every couple of days. Cheaper to buy some towels. We were sightseeing all day and it was very hot so showering 2-3 times a day. There was also nowhere to hang towels to dry. Bathroom was tiny with door opening into it so could barely move. Sofa was immensely uncomfortable as was the bed, rock hard! Dining table was attached to kitchen bench, weird. Couldn’t really unpack as were only 4 coat hangers and 2 drawers. Had to live out of suitcase in living room.

It’s best location with river view.
Just the apartment is so old need to be upgraded.

I arrived early but I was not able to check-in early which I expected but they didn’t have a space to leave my luggage so I had to find a spot and pay to leave my luggage until check-in. Upon check-in I noticed the bathroom shower and sink were not clean. I reached out the property management and all they said was they will inform the cleaning crew. I had to clean that up myself because I needed to shower and go out. The area is very convenient. All the restaurants and transportation is walkable also easy walk to the bridge to crossover to the Gaia side. Overall it was fine but I would not rate this as a 4 star. It’s more of 3.5.

Oporto Home Riverfront is a quaint picturesque property with the most spectacular views right in the heart of the old town. The apartment is very well laid out and spacious with very open windows. The bed and couch were not the most comfortable to sit and lay on, as well as cheap pillows that need to be replaced - as well not enough basic amenities (ie toilet paper) we’re not provided and needed to be asked for half way through the stay. Note that they do not provide complimentary cleaning services even though our stay was for five days.

Great place as a base to explore Porto! We stayed in the “Silver” room on the 1st floor. Partial view of the river but still great! Apartment has all the amenities you need, very modern, bright and extremely comfy. Highly recommend if you’re staying for 2-3 nights!

Nice beautiful unit but the elevator was not working

Terrible experience. Elevator broken, no handrails on stairs. Had to scoot down dark stairwell on my butt to avoid falling. Local management no help. Will be seeking partial refund.

Apartment was VERY disappointing and sorry we stayed there.

SO MANY PROBLEMS:
1) This apartment is below a restaurant so the people dining are inches from your front door have to wait for servers and annoyed people eating just to enter the building. "Purple Unit" was on 3rd floor
2) Elevator was Not Working
3) Entry lobby and the stairs the lights did not work (was pitch dark could not see anything on the slippery winding stone steps carrying suitcases.)
4) Stove/microwave and tiny coffee maker did not work (no matter what owners says that it was "user error").
5) Shower floor is slick like glass, I slammed my head in shower wall when got in(need shower mat or decals on floor to make safe)
6) Water pressure pulses (not a constant pressure) and goes from warm to cold when in shower.
7) When open the patio doors for view, room gets filled with cigarette smoke and carying on diners below.
8) Sofa bed/couch in living room is old and stained and disgusting.
9) They Advertise "Balcony" There is NOT a "Balcony"! You open a outside patio door there is a railing at edge of the door can NOT step out.

Defiantly not worth 300 euros a night. Owner said they would have come fix the problems if I would have let know. Why should I be inconvenienced for ;ess than 36 hour stay with someone entering apartment trying to items on my time? I did expect apartment owners to check appliances are working that is is safe to walk at night with lights and elevator working.

Again, defiantly NOT worth 300 euros per night!! They neglect apartment maintaince and safety! Owners want to refund me 30 euros for all their problems, they are simply clueless. DO NOT RENT! LOOK ELSEWHERE!

Great comms on checkin (although it went right to the checkin time almost before we had the code etc).
Large airy one bed apartment. All facilities, including equipped kitchen (which we didn't really use) soap, toliet rolls, towels etc supplied. It would have been great to have a few additional towels.
Comfy bed and quiet location. Some great cafes and restaurants nearby.
Apartment is in a great location for accessing all the sights and tourist links.
Nothing to dislike. We asked to extend check out by 1 hour which was granted.

The good: excellent location right in riverfront Ribeira; apartment was spacious (had the riverfront second floor so also great view over to V Nova de Gaia.)
Self contained (oven, dishwasher etc) though no paper towels etc so have to buy anything you need.
Not so good: get. welcome pack of (only) two cheap tea bags and coffee pods (staying 5 nights!). No soap in bathroom unless you count sharing the soap dispenser in the shower ?
There is no ‘reception’ nor ‘meet and greet’. The just message you the door code and key lockbox code.
Poor: many weeks before arrival we asked if we could access the apartment or building at about 1pm as we were travelling in from the countryside. They said ‘yes that should be possible’. Then the night before when we checked they changed it to ‘No, not until 4pm; that’s our policy’. We had made all our travel arrangements to be there at 1 and couldn’t change that. We asked if could store our luggage there ( we would have been ok with that compromise). No they said. On further request they did say we could store our luggage at their office but that was across town(??!). They didn’t even tell us that there is a luggage storage facility only about 150m away. We found and used that (12E). What was annoy f that when we later went to the building, the door code would have allowed us in to a foyer area where we could have put our bags. And they could have given us the lockbox code for key to our individual apartment door later. Though don’t know why it took a cleaner 5 hours to clean the apartment, when we had asked weeks ahead for earlier access ? Not at all happy with that ‘service’ and lack of any consideration: Just stuck to 4pm policy statement ?

Everything about our experience with this hotel was terrible. First of all, I did not receive any communication from the hotel prior to the day we were supposed to arrive. I tried to contact them several times prior but was only able to get through the morning of, when I was told that I had an outstanding payment and would only be given access to the apartment after I paid this. In other words, if I hadn’t been able to get through to them we would have been stranded in Porto.

We arrived around 11pm and wandered around for a bit as the apartment building is difficult to find and there were no clear instructions. Once inside, we found that there was no hand soap and there was a dirty footprint on the bedspread, and once we took showers, we found that a brown sludge was coming up from the drain. As it was late at night and they don’t have any employees in the building to help guests, we were forced to stay overnight in this pigsty.

In the morning, I sent an email explaining our issues to the hotel. When they didn’t respond for 4 hours, I called and was told I needed to send them pictures of the issues in order to have them fixed. They essentially acted as if they didn’t believe us instead of getting the (third party) cleaning company to fix what should have been done before we arrived. By this point we no longer felt comfortable staying here as we didn’t know what else was terribly unclean and instead checked into a hotel down the road. They agreed to refund half of our nights but nothing more. The kitchen was nice though.

The apartment is in the best location. Right amongst the old town and numerous very good restaurants. Direct river front and it was wonderful to wake up to the view. It’s a lot better than the other side of the river especially as it makes accessing Porto city easy.

We had the top floor riverfront apartment. Its very light and gets good breezes. Great air conditioning.

We had no problems getting access to the apartment with emails on the day of entry giving us codes for the doors and lock safe.

The apartment was very clean and well equipped with a useful small kitchenette. A nice large screen TV.

The bed was comfortable but the bed linen was poor quality with terrible pillows and no covers on the duvets. Similarly the bathroom linen was cheap and poor quality.

The lounge room sofa bed had seen better days and was uncomfortable. The apartment felt sterile as it lacked any decorations, rugs or wall art.

Overall the main thing that made this apartment acceptable was its location. If a riverfront location is not that important to you then I’d look elsewhere (it was perfect to watch the St John’s day fireworks).

Despite the mess British Airways landed us in, we had a great stay here. Amazing location, and Fabiana went out of her way to make us feel like we were at home (she found us a room when BA cancelled our flights, and stayed up until midnight to let us in when our flight was 4 hours late).

Whilst the apartmet is lovely and in a great location by the river our stay was spoilt by the building work next door, so apartment was far from peaceful. So if you are booked in over the next 2 months I would reconsider, as work started 8am to 6pm every day including the weekends. I so understand that the owners cant so do anything about that, but they could have let us know for us to choose then if we still wanted to stay. They failed to let us know so im posting this so guests do know as I doubt they will let anyone know. When they we questioned why they didnt inform us, they said they didnt know which wasnt plausible given they got the room ready and greeted us to the sound of a pneumatic drill !
The apartment also could have been equipped we stayed first in lisbon and there we were greeted with a few nice touches of milk and bread, yoghurts etc.
There are plenty of lovely places to stay so I'd consider others.
Other recommendations for your visit include: porto free walking tour which was great, ramos pinto cellars, and o comercial restaurant.

IF you are reading this review please just proceed with your booking as this is one of the best apartments i stayed in Europe. Great location, clean, and of course Paula the owner was super helpful and gave us a lot of information and recommendations. I will definitely stay here again and again and again.

Beautiful unit at a great location. However, there no one on the premises for assistance. We arrived into a strange country, arrived at the hotel and no one answered the door. We waited about half hour before some one, the maid, came out of the building. Everytime you need assistance, like the door key was not working, it involve making a phone call and waiting for someone to come over. Besides, it is making a call in a foreign country, these charges will be on my cell phone bill.

We used it as a stop off from Algarve to Bilbao with our dog. Amazing location literally on the river, just right and superb meet and greet. We will return again for longer, the place was buzzing with life

One word for this apartment AMAZING. Fantastic service, fantastic location. We walked out the front door right onto the river. Stacks of cute restaurants to pick from. Easy walking to all the sights it really was everything we wanted.
