Pros:

I understand it is a budget hotel so it was what you would expect from a budget hotel. Basic but clean enough. There were little geckos in our room which were a surprise but they probably accounted for the absence of any bugs in the room. The staff were lovely and very attentive.

I had to cancel my stay at this hotel due to a personal matter. I initially requested a room change, which they kindly accommodated. However, my circumstances changed again, and I asked to be moved to a different hotel entirely.

I was incredibly grateful when they not only voided my payment but also went out of their way to ensure I had everything I needed. Their hospitality was exceptional; they were very understanding and even helped me arrange transportation when I was leaving. I truly appreciate their kindness and outstanding service.

I booked this hotel expecting a comfortable and clean stay, but unfortunately it was far from that. The room I received did not match the photos or description online. The floor was visibly dirty, the bed sheets had stains, and the air conditioner was broken, making the room uncomfortably hot. When I brought these issues to the staff’s attention, they were unhelpful and did not offer any solutions. Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with both the condition of the room and the service. I would not stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

We booked our stay at Hotel J Unawatuna through Booking.com and were very pleased with our experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel provided safe parking facilities, which was a great plus. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and room service was prompt and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a pleasant and convenient stay

The location was good

Cons:

We presumed that the quality and the service of the hotel to be good as it was a part of Jetwing Hotels, but we were absolutely wrong. The room didn’t have at least a tea/coffee station. Not at least a bottle of water, we bought one from the hotel and they charged us Rs 500 when the retail price was Rs 130.
The towels were stained. No house keeping was done for the two nights we stayed. The bathroom door was broken, the air conditioner was not working properly.
On top of that, the room had a glass strip facing the pool which gave us no privacy.

Amazing value for money and top notch Sri Lankan breakfasts!
Pros:

Firstly, the food was outstanding which was quite a surprise - the Sri Lankan breakfasts were some of the best meals we’ve had in the 2 weeks we’ve been travelling around SL. The bed was really comfortable, the room nice and light with plenty of storage, the shower powerful and the staff lovely. Unbelievably good value for money. The pool was sparkling clean. Supermarket opposite and the beach 20 minute walk (or 500 rupee tuk tuk) away. We liked it so much here that we extended our stay!

Cons:

Nothing! A little tatty in places but for the price point it was perfect.
