Dear Hotels.com,
I am writing to formally complain about the hotel we booked through your platform. The condition of the hotel was extremely disappointing and completely different from the pictures advertised on Hotels.com. The room was filthy, the bathroom door was broken, and overall, the place was in such poor condition that it caused us anxiety and stress. We couldn’t sleep at all due to the unhygienic and uncomfortable conditions.
When we raised these issues with the hotel reception, they dismissed our concerns, stating that since we booked through Hotels.com, we needed to file a complaint with you directly. Despite this awful experience, we were told that hotel.com paid them only £39.00 for that room which is not the room sold to us.
We trust that you will take this complaint seriously and request a full refund for our stay.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Navid
First of all there was no one at the reception so we had to call then on the website it said there was more beds that not was once we said it they said is a mistake in beds they said we can’t do anything about it and there was no hot tub as on the website said it is available when it wasn’t the location was good and the food was alright but the room was very bad the images on the website were old where it shows nice when it wasn’t the room was dirty barely any cleaned the location couldn’t be any better the staff was nice and polite but the room was very bad online we had set up 7 people but on reception they said it only said 6 saying that it was a mistake which was a major they hadn’t update the images of the hotel as it was very dirty and the blankets were old just as the mattress very dirty
The hotel does need a major refurb, but for the price you pay for a sea-view room you don't expect perfection. The room was small, dated, but clean. The bathroom was the same, but the shower was fine, nice and warm. We had a really good time in the bar later on - really good atmosphere. The staff are brilliant. The hotel just needs updating and it would be perfect, the location is brilliant, just near South Pier and a tram stop. Get there early if you want a parking spot, the car park is only small. We enjoyed our stay.
Upon arrival, there was nobody on Reception, we had to phone to get someone to let us in. After getting to our room, initially, the room looked clean and tidy but upon closer inspection, there were lots of cobwebs and large spiders. There was a clump of hair on the side, the inside of the drawers were full of crumbs. The kettle was clean but was placed on a unit with no plug socket meaning that to use the kettle, we had to move it to a different part of the room. The TV had no remote control either. The bed itself looked fab but upon sitting/lying down on it, you sunk in and it was very uncomfortable for two people. It is definitely in need of being replaced. I braved the shower which looked grim. I shouldn't have bothered. The water took ages to warm up and when it did, it was still only luke warm. The windows were both not great and the one wasnt able to be opened as was broken. The general decor was in need of being updated throughout the whole hotel although you can look past this. The breakfast was lovely. There was a good choice of cereals and a fry up. The staff at breakfast time were very helpful. Unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again which is a shame as the parking was free, security was good to get into and out the building and the location was perfect.
were to start, shown three rooms as first was bad 12 then 17&19 stayed in 17 they are all half rooms, that tells you something, hotel is very very tired, in fact it needs gutting and rebuilding, booked a sea view did not expect to have the sea in the room, window leaked carpet was wet, most worrying the smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling! Walls grubby, ceiling hanging down, paper peeling, bathroom was from the 60s and just full of peeling silicone & paper, furniture is hand painted and 50 year old, tv was unwatchable constant glitching , one ok thing bedding was clean. dining room is just awful what's with the fish tank?, arrived Thursday, asked about the bar/drinks to be told only open at weekends, breakfast was acceptable and the receptionist was really pleasant but he is on a hiding to nothing! i stayed one night of three leaving next day, did not even as for a refund as they clearly need the money more than me! do yourself a favour and stay next door (new brooklyn) its like a 5 star hotel compared with coastal bay as that's were i went. phots att substantiate what i have said.
It was a last minute book room was tiny but it did it job staff are lovely and welcoming
Staff very helpful hotel could rooms doing up.
Staff are really friendly and welcoming, no problems with room was really clean, full english breakfast tasted amazing, no complaints will be booking again, in good distance from town centre 10 min walk
whether it was early in season, there was no replenishment of coffee etc, room was small but adequate, no bin for rubbish etc, and lastly, a wee bit dated.
The man who runs this hotel was lovely, very basic hotel with the most comfortable bed! The owner did say he was trying to renovate the hotel, when this is done this will be a lovely hotel. Very central on the sea front perfect location, had a lovely one night stay
staff very helpful as ecpedia had booked up wrong rooms , hotel very dirty and smelly carparking poor bathroom toilet didnt flush no tv in room
We thought this place was shut down. Maybe it had been. No sign. No lights on (the light in the photo is the light I left on). All black and in darkness. Went to the door and a man unlocked it. No sign of any computers in reception etc. or signage. Not even a sheet of A4 in the window Bar closed and grill over the bar. Breakfast area desolate. Carpet filthy. Bedroom small and damaged furniture. Parking situation a little unusual. No spaces either. First hotel I’ve ever declined to stay at. Didn’t even bring the family in (I had gone to do a recce as the place looked closed) And in subsequent messages, I was called a liar by the man who let us in - a bit like another reviewer. When we booked, the tripadvisor link took us to a different hotel. Hopefully that has changed now.
So poor no hotel name anywhere asked people in the street said didn't know asked someone parking in front of what actually was the hotel and they said don't know we are staying at the hotel Athol but told could park here!!! Only hotel on the Promenade no lights on in reception at night. Rooms basic compared to the website photos on trivago that goes for whole hotel no bar no dining room reception area and lobby nothing like photos on the site!!!
We were going out on Saturday and guests were arriving asking us if we knew where the Coastal Bay Hotel is
Manager didn't seem bothered said that hotel only offered room only
Nice room but scruffy no breakfast just told about a cafe down the road i thaught a hotel or b and b was bed and breakfast for the price we paid
Not clean at all
Carpets badly stained, wallpaper hanging off walls. Barely any toilet roll. Room very cold as holes in walls covered with cardboard or wood. Worst sleep I’ve ever had the bed was extremely uncomfortable could feel every spring. Supposed to be a double bed more like a single bed. Car parking awful cars blocking everyone in. Owner just telling you to dump your car. Would not recommend this hotel at all. May be ok for stag nights if on a budget.
Good points: The beds were comfy and clean, friendly host
Bad points: Strong musky smell, very old decor, doors hanging off cupboards, wallpaper peeling off, crammed parking, no TV.
Everything was discusting. I was given a false advertisement. I had 2 young children with me and the room was dirty and smelly. I didn't even want to let my children walk around the place it was that bad. the beds and furniture are all falling apart. The wall where the window was had wallpaper all coming off with mould growing underneath and the ceiling looked like it was going to collapse, it is a health Hazard for adults never mind young children, disgusting. No bar access as advertised and it's like it was only us in the building as no sound of any movement of other guests. definately would not advice a stay there. I have seen some bad places, but this was just vile. we didn't even have access to a working ceiling light and was given a lamp as an alternative. Plus the fact I was charged 75 pound for this horrendous mess. Vile it really is.
Got there, hotel looks at the moment in total renovation,
There was nothing to like. The place was so run down even the bugs were leaving. Their alcohol licence had been withdrawn, the name on the hotel had been removed, there were no lights on, couldn't get access in to the hotel, tried from 2.30 on Saturday afternoon until 5.30 then gave up and had to go and find other accommodation as the granddaughter was getting more and more upset
