The standards were generally good. The reception was good, the food as well especially the breakfast 👌🏽
You have very nice accommodation. Kindly improve on your water supply. little water was coming from the shower during bath times.
There is room for Montclair to grow. The Hotel is strategically located, so its standards should be high, and it should be every visitor's choice upon arrival in Nyanga.
The place is nice but cleanliness of the rooms should increase. More indoor games are needed. The shops outside the hotel need sprucing up because they give a poor outlook of the whole area.
Mont clair is for refreshing...
the views and the desserts are to die for!!!! Staff is welcoming always Refreshing greetings
Need to improve on Wifi access, had to ask for password.
All other services were just good. We enjoyed the food and the scenic view
Nice room with good views and very helpful staff. A bit of confusion with the payment and I was charged twice.
Staff was very friendly and always there to help.
amazing place to be ,either for business or for leisure, amazing food from the culinary gurus ,always cheerful and anticipating guess needs .
thumbs up Montclair for the enchanting service.
definately will visit there soon
I was very happy with their flexibility and they accommodated my unique needs promptly. Had travelled for a race and they allowed me to come and bath after 1130am and have my breakfast at 12 midday. And dinner was delicious. The service is just super. They are now my Nyanga plug
I stayed there on business for a week and came back two months later with the family they all had a great time. On another visit just dropped in for a late lunch they did not disappoint, great service, ambiance and food.
On the surface, this hotel looked very nice. We were staying for two nights while we went to Nyanga and this seemed to be convenient. There were two of us sharing and the beds were big enough and came with electric blankets which was very acceptable given that it was much cooler here than in Harare, due to the elevation and the mountains. The first issue we encountered was there was no apparent hot water after running the tap for 10 minutes, in a country that experiences droughts, it was concerning. We couldn’t turn on the cold tap either, so had to call the management. While waiting for help to arrive, we noticed the towel rail was absent, and when we tried to switch on the electric blankets, one of them didn’t work.
We went to the front desk and waited for someone to come back with us to the room. Eventually a porter arrives with a cable and exposed wires, looking for electrical tape to somehow repair the connection! At this point, we stated that we were uncomfortable with the set up and needed to be moved. The management agreed and moved us to the next room. This at least had a towel rail and the water got hot after several minutes. The electric blankets worked so we were happy about that. We did notice that the cable on the room heater had been patched up previously and there was a small burn on the carpet!
We found the Dining room and decided to try the buffet for $25. This was not very good, but as the only hotel around as far as we knew, they had a captive audience. As we had been traveling for a number of hours we decided to get to bed. Having a warm bed to get into was great, but after turning the blankets off, we noticed that one half was off, but the other half was still on with no way of turning them off. Very strange and somewhat concerning.
The next morning, my travel companion was first to shower and on getting out, discovered that the floor was flooded. The water had run down the wall and out over the edge and now she had to use her towels to try to mop it up. It seemed like a never ending comedy of errors! The same thing repeated itself when I got in the shower.
The breakfast buffet was mediocre with very little choice of fruits available and the bowls were almost empty. We had to ask for them to be topped up. The Dinner buffet was also mediocre and we were very glad to be leaving the next day.
The setting of the hotel is beautiful with the mountains around, but our feeling was that it had probably been top class when it was built, but it had gone right down over the years and become quite shabby. On a positive note, the staff were very friendly and helpful and that’s probably all I can say about it. We will not be returning again.
I was at Montclair for Christmas holiday and really enjoyed my stay there. The staff are very friendly and the food is great. There are lots of activities like swimming, volley ball, tennis, putt putt and jumping castle for the kids - all free. Horse riding is reasonably priced. However, for visitors, much of the things to do are outside the hotel as you visit places like Nyangombe falls, World's view, Mtarazi falls, Mt Nyangani, Pit structures, Natural Pool and Rhodes Museum, among others.
Very good location as it is on the main road from Rusape/Mutare and close to the National Park. I'll repeat again that the staff are very friendly, always smiling and giving their best. Competition is stiff in Nyanga, but I think they are top on service and food, which should give them a competitive edge. There are sections of the hotel that need improvements, but I liked that staff are trying their best to give good service with what is available. I recommend the hotel for long-stay visitors to Nyanga.
Place is staffed by youngsters who are inexperienced but doing the best they can we what's available. There appeared to be very few guests. In the present economic climate in Zimbabwe it's difficult to see how they could improve as general maintenance of accommodation seems to have been neglected over a period of time.
Tired rooms, walls, floors, furniture everything.Seemed to have very young and inexperienced staff who were doing the best they could with what they had. The food surpassed the expectations created by the uninspiring menu. We did have to pay cash for food at the end of the meal as they wouldn't let us put it on the room. The views from the terrace were magnificent but may not be available from your room.
Stayed here over the weekend for a workshop. A quiet and peaceful hotel with stunning views. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming. The rooms although clean with electric blankets and heaters, are outdated and are in great need of upgrades. The food was really good and I generally had a good stay.
Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel is old and in need of a good maintenance overhaul. The "bar" was unclean, with dirty furniture poorly placed about the room. The "guest" lounge was the same. The dining room was well presented, clean with good food.
I have a business conference at the hotel and it was my first stay. The generally Nyanga is a hub of great views of world class in the likes of Mount Nyangani and the national park.My overall experience was though good given the fact that it was my first experience and benchmarking with other payers like the Troutbark hotel which is within the same area, there is need for some remarkable improvements. There is need for checking efficiency though we have a large group but there should be a sign of urgency. After travelling such long distances we need to rest hence the checking process should be shortened. The reception is well known for putting up a smile as a sign of welcome that alone translate into an assured pleasant stay. The rooms are ok but there is need for upgrading the bathing area facilities. We know the prevailing current economic challenges have negatively affected this sector but there is need for management to consider improving. The food was ok and the variety is granted. On the grounds there are green and ideal for outdoor sun bathing as well as other functions. There are also have various out door activities for enjoyment that includes horse riding, squash, tennis, put putt, swimming and nature walk trail. The children playground and and board services are available. There are certain areas that needs attention as the grass is drying up.The hotel needs to improve on hospitality since its the major key compact of their service. We must feel at home really thats the way to go as I will be part of their family during my stay.We need to experience the beauty of Nyanga through their hospitality.Inclusion they are copying and do hope they will catch up in the shortest future and I have great funny and wonderful sites visits to nearby falls.
Overall experience was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable with heated mattresses included. However a modern touch will be nice and a heated pool is a definite must have as the area is rather cool.
Where do i even start. Had the worst experience at this hotel this past weekend.
1. None of the rooms where ready by check in time, leaving to mill around 2-3 hours waiting
2. The man at the front desk said some people come in and dont want to check out. What concern is that to me if you have made me pay already phone the person in that room and tell them check out time
3. While sitting outside waiting for our room i witness a waiter throw dirty water from a dish from the balcony on to the lawn close to a table with customers.
4. Finally get into my room after it was clean only to find viagra pills on the floor of my room? If that was not spotted what were they cleaning.
5. The kettle in my room was broken reported it early still waiting for a replacement.
6.They overbooked the hotel amd didn have enough room for everyone to fit in at dinner time. We walked in were not even asked for our dinner tickets meaning anyone could walk in.
7. They let people sleep by the fire over night next to the reception. How tacky is that? If anyone can come in and do that do you they even care about saftey of guests? As i went upstairs to my room i found people on the stair case sleeping.
8. The amount of fights that happened that night.its half term people had bought kids etc.
9. Come breakfast again no one asked for tickets.
10. Tried to check out only to e ignored by the girl at the reception she stood right infront of me.
11. The team at the hotel are rude and do not know what hospitality is at all. I would like to thank the one guy think from maintenance only polite service i got all weekend he fixed our Tv that wasn working and a few other things that were down.
12. Wont even start on the food.
Standards at this hotel have really gone down from back in the day. Please can the people responsible do something about this. You can do better and fix it before you lose clientele.
Ps personally ill never stay at this hotel ever again in my life. Felt safer and more looked after when i moved to national parks.
