Pros:

Excellent staff; excellent meal. The staff changed my first room when i complained of the AC. After that, all went well, no complian.

Pros:

I stayed at Protea Hotel by Marriott Owerri Select from 25 January to 4 February for a total of 10 nights, and the experience was very positive overall.

On arrival, my room was upgraded at no extra cost, which I appreciated, especially as recognition of my previous stay in 2025. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of options and more than enough choices each morning. The air conditioning worked well throughout my stay, and both the WiFi and general room comfort were reliable.

Security at the main gate was thorough. While checks could sometimes feel selective, they are understandable given the current security situation in Nigeria and contribute to a sense of safety within the property.

I was particularly impressed by the honesty of the staff. The receptionist refunded ₦46,000 to me, which I was not expecting and which could easily have been overlooked. That level of integrity deserves recognition.

Cons:

The only concern was that hotel staff were checking the visas of foreign nationals. In my view, this goes beyond the hotel’s role, as visa checks fall under the responsibility of Nigerian Immigration, not hotel staff. ID verification is understandable, but visa enforcement should be left to the appropriate authorities.

The great customer service that the staff at this hotel consistently deliver makes up for the minor issue I encountered.
Pros:

Great, secure location. Excellent customer service. Good food. Clean, comfortable rooms. Facilities are well maintained overall.

Cons:

Pillows too flat. No room was available to me until after 7.00p.m. Check in is at 3.00p.m. I arrived at 5.00p.m and had to sit around for over two hours. Breakfast buffet ran out of several items for prolonged periods of time.

Pros:

On Expedia it was advertised as a poolside view room and breakfast for 2. They initially did not give me a poolside room but changed it when I showed them the Expedia booking. Now they refused the breakfast for 2 and said that when I booked that I should have selected/stated it was 2 occupants so it was going to be only one breakfast. They front desk staff do not understand or know about the Expedia adverts.

The facility had a background noice which interrupted sleep at night on second floor, the duvet was uneven with bumps, the rooms were too small for the price, the hotel was way more expensive when booked online than at the facility,

The internet was always disconnected once there is power or electricity change over on the 3rd floor. I did complain but it fell on deaf ears. Shortages of food during morning buffet
