Location, room and breakfast
Services were very poor: no basic amenities like sewing kit to hem trousers or nail file. Laundry was proposed every day but quality was poor they returned my shirt back unmaintened.
Room maintained poorly: floor is dirty, lots of dust everywhere.
Reception was unhelpful: I faced an issue with my flight and they sent me to solve it on my own knowing that airline was Chinese and not providing any assistance in English. I asked to extend stay because of the weather and they did, but they forgot to extend my keys.
But they charged me for two b/w printed pages for 7 rmd, I never faced it before.
All that small details spoiled all impressions of our stay.

本次有遇到淋浴架鬆掉以及浴缸旁邊排水孔吐水問題, 有反應過有安排人員過來處理, 不過問題仍然存在, 排水孔吐水有稍微減緩, 淋浴鬆掉問題沒有改善, 建議安排修繕師傅做個檢查
fantastic place to stay, superb location connected to HKRI Taikoo Hui shopping mall, lot of restaurants and cafes close by, changle road is close by, superb service and ask for JOY HE if you need assistance with reservations / shopping / information, she was brilliant.

We had an amazing stay at The Sukhothai Shanghai and would happily return on our next visit. Every member of the staff was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming. The Michelin-starred restaurant on the first floor was absolutely incredible—one of the best meals we had in Shanghai—and it deserves even more recognition. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide variety of high-quality dishes. Our only small suggestion would be to let in a little more natural light during breakfast by opening the curtains. As we were traveling with a young child, we also felt the first-floor lobby was slightly too dim at times. Finally, the turndown service was exceptional and made us feel truly cared for. Thank you for such a memorable and relaxing stay!
Be warned if traveling with children. We booked a room for 3 guests — a married couple and our 12-year-old daughter — and the reservation clearly reflected all 3 guests from the start. Upon arrival, the hotel refused to provide a rollaway bed or any additional sleeping arrangement unless we paid an additional $500 USD — on top of our $350/night rate. Every other hotel we have stayed at in China accommodated this request at no charge. We escalated to front desk, called down, and had our travel provider call on our behalf. The hotel would not budge. For a property that markets itself on personalized luxury service, this was a significant disappointment and frankly a misrepresentation of what a 3-guest booking implies. Families should be aware before booking.
