Pros:

Stayed in Room 1 which was gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was solid. Be aware that the walls are VERY thin and this is NOT a party place.

Cons:

Wifi falhando direto. Água salgada saindo da pia e do chuveiro. Má limpeza do piso interno do quarto e da parte externa do quarto.

Gemütliches Zimmer mit Strohdach, man hört das schöne Rauschen des Meeres. Von Bett und Dusche aus blickt man direkt aufs Meer, die offene Dusche ist jedoch ein wenig gewöhnungsbedürftig. Sehr freundliches Personal, vor allem Selzin von der Reception, Anna vom Restaurant und natürlich Frieda, die Hotel-Katze. Da der Strand voll Sargassum war und nicht benutzt werden konnte, waren wir froh um die drei Pools, die man zur Auswahl hat. Wir haben uns sehr wohl in diesem Hotel gefühlt.

Cons:

Das Zimmer muss von einem Mann entworfen worden sein. Wie sonst könnte man das Fehlen eines Badezimmer-Spiegels erklären? Ein kleiner Schminkspiegel und ein alter Ganzkörper-Spiegel sind leider nicht ausreichend für eine Frau, die sich stylen will. Das Essen ist leider nur mittelmässig, was sehr schade ist. Das Zimmer könnte grösser sein, es fehlen auch Ablagemöglichkeiten.

Do not stay - scam!

This hotel purports to be a luxury hotel - but is probably the worst waste of money we've ever spent. The hotel itself circumvented booking.com and made us pay through their own platform which is entirely non-refundable and should have been a HUGE red flag!

The hotel is located on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, and was very cheaply made and operated. The room was cheap from the outset - the bathroom has no glass pane so was perpetually hot, the sink faucet is chipping away and rusting, the light fixtures were falling out, and the AC unit was set at a very obvious angle.

Additionally, the AC unit is directly above the bed so cold air is blowing on you as you sleep with the light being too bright, the shower is open so you're on display for the whole hotel without privacy. The room itself lacked any chairs or furniture to sit down and read a book or even put your toiletries. The wicker furniture and lamps were cheap and often did not work.

The breakfast was watered down juice and took a very long time to make - including a photo of the menu stating "choose 1 option" - luxury hotels don't limit your option of food or beverages. The mini bar in our room was never stocked and the hotel policy stipulated if you bring in anything from the outside you are charged $50USD. The "tote bag" for the pool had a $250USD charge if used - all of which seemed outrageous. If you look at all closely at the details - the hotel is dirty and run down, cheaply made and maintained. The pool area smelled like an open sewer - and the pool bathrooms were very poorly cleaned with no soap or anywhere to dry your hands. The beach had a 'spa' which was a falling apart shack and not available to use. This is a total scam and we regret spending so much money - do not trust the reviews, or videos - corners have clearly been cut at every step of the way. Do not stay!!!

Dear La Valise Team,

We were very much looking forward to our stay at your beautiful property, and while we truly appreciated the unique design and overall atmosphere, I wanted to share a few disappointments that impacted our experience.

We had booked the suite with the rolling bed, and checked in around 4:00–4:30 PM, hoping to unwind and take a few photos before our 7:30 PM dinner reservation. Unfortunately, several issues took up most of that limited window:

When I reached for the robes, both had noticeable yellow stains. I texted the staff for replacements, and also reported that the A/C remote wasn’t working—important since the doors cannot be opened with the A/C on.

It took nearly an hour to receive the new robes and for someone to look into the A/C issue. While I understand things can take time, the service felt very slow, especially during a time-sensitive part of our stay.

Additionally, while I was getting ready, the staff troubleshooting the A/C appeared to be having a serious conversation about The A/C, which made the situation feel uncomfortable.

Lastly, our booking on Expedia mentioned a complimentary bottle of wine in the suite, which we never received—something I had been looking forward to after the delays.

While we truly loved the ambiance and would have enjoyed staying longer, I left feeling disappointed that we weren’t able to take the photos I envisioned, especially given the reputation and rate of the property.

It was a STUNNING hotel and the rooms are quite beautiful. We had a reservation at Nu Tulum and the food was exceptionally beautiful and delicious, as well as the service. Our first night, we really wanted rest and our room happened to be near the restaurant where a wedding was taking place. This was never mentioned in our booking and it was EXTREMELY loud til midnight. I did eventually call the front desk and they offered for us to move rooms (which I was too tired to do). The next night, they upgraded us to the beachfront side since it became available and we had wanted to book that originally. It was still very loud that night with another wedding, but not quite as loud. Just know that it may not be as quiet and relaxing as you think at night. However, the service is excellent, the people were so beautiful and wonderful. And the beach side was just an incredible view. We loved it. I would stay again, but not if I really needed a quiet night. 🙂 Just be aware. Still a 9.8/10.

Relaxing oasis in South Tulum
Pros:

This small boutique hotel was a calm and welcoming oasis along the beach in South Tulum; every single member of staff was so friendly and helpful and really made an effort to be on a first-name basis with us, which was very charming; the food was great, our room was beautiful and spacious and the whole vibe of the property was just super relaxing - the team at the spa also deserves a special callout! We booked three massages during the week we were there and they were outsanding.

Loved the attention to details that has gone into designing every aspect of this hotel. Both our room and the shared facilities were clean, gorgeous, and just super comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding. Staff incredibly nice.
