Good localisation, good standard

The location was great everything in walking distance and the food was good.
The staff didn’t feel very welcoming and wasn’t always at the front desk.
The stay was not good. Upon arrival, the atmosphere was very strange. There was someone playing loud music in the lobby, with a speaker, someone sleeping in an armchair, a very strong smell of marijuana throughout the hotel, and a lot of dirt. It wasn't a good arrival environment for my family. The lobby was very dark and very dirty (was it because it was the end of the day?). The room was very small, cramped, and also very dark. At check-out, the receptionist asked how the stay had been. I said it had been bad and started to explain, but I was simply ignored. If she didn't want to know about the stay, why did she ask, or didn't she expect the answer that it wasn't good? I chose the hotel because of the brand name, which I know, but after this experience, I will think twice before choosing another hotel from this brand again.
