My boyfriend and I stayed here for about a week. I earned my Open Water Cert with Pedro and he joined for a few dives with a refresher course. We also went on a whale shark tour and saw 5! Overall, we had a stellar experience with knowledgeable, calm and helpful dive and boat crews! As for booking, we booked a bit last minute but Analyn helped us with all our questions. We stayed in Myrna’s Guesthouse, which was a cute little room, a 2 minute walk down the street. We didn’t have wifi as was advertised, but the main resort always had wifi for us to use. The restaurant was delicious, and we loved eating meals with other guests we met while diving. Super happy with our time at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and would totally recommend to others!
It's one of my favourite places in the Philippines for diving. This time we stayed with Sogod bay diving resort and it was a great choice. The staff, diving crew, owners, an Australian and Philippino couple, are just so nice, welcomingvand helpful. Great food too. For the diving it is pure 10, so much variety underwater. Just go there and enjoy.
Analyn was very accommodating and helpful. She did just about everything. Front desk, server, looked for whale sharks on our tour while getting stung by jelly fish, and answering to a million questions each day. Dave also did his best to find a whale shark but no luck. Regardless, the staff made our stay awesome. We stayed in the deluxe room with a king bed and a single bed. Everything was great, my only suggestion is to not flush toilet paper down the toilet. It may take awhile to flush down so just wait a bit if you can help it. The view of the ocean is beautiful and we were located steps away from the front desk/dining area/meeting area for the tour. Thank you Analyn for being attentive and making our stray an awesome one and for the late checkout option!
Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is an amazing place. The location is perfect for beautiful dives and the staff is very friendly. I came here to get my Open Water certification and Pedro was my instructor. I could not have wished for a better teacher! He is so kind and explains everything calmly. He made my first experience with diving unforgettable. I can highly recommend this place!
What can I say! This is one of the most welcoming DIVE resorts around. The owners are present every day, and often join dives. Food is great and the staff very nice. Diving is relaxed, safe and well organized, with a great variety of dive sites, all the way from stunning reefs with a LOT of fish to black sand diving. No crowds, you and your group will probably never meet another diver when diving. Furthermore, the resort is doing a lot of reef restoration work, and sometimes organizes broken coral transplantation with guests. So if you haven’t already been there, go!
Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is a cosy little place with the kindest staff.
The helped us arrange trips and we were originally only going to do some snorkeling.
However after our first trip, the other residents at the resort convinced us to go for a scuba dive.
We were beyond grateful that we did!
We went with our instructor Pedro* and he showed us a world of un imaginable beauty on 4 peaceful dives over 2 days around Sogod Bay. The life and colors were fantastic.
We went on a trial dive but everything was controlled, professional and very very serene and beautiful.
*our dive instructor Pedro is a peaceful soul and very nice and extremely skilled diver. However! We believe that all the divers at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort at equally professional and good at what they do! So whoever you get as your instructor, we are certain you are gonna have a great experience. Though we also really loved our dives with Pedro.
Beside the dives! The rooms were nice and food was good at the resort. Staff is friendly and helpful!
6th stay at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and I still love it just as much.
The welcome is wonderful and you feel like you staying with friends.
Several types of accommodation (all very comfortable and very clean) are offered at very attractive prices.
The food offered at their own restaurant is excellent with good portions and a large choice of dishes.
About diving, I have never been disappointed.
Everything is well organize at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort.
Bay of Sogod offers beautiful dives that can satisfy all types of divers.
Several very good Muck dive sites and many incredible wall/drop-off rich in fauna and flora.
SBSR is one of my favorite place in the Philippines and that's the reason why I'm coming back every year.
I am an underwater photographer and visited Sogod Bay Scuba Resort again in January. I have dived at many places around the World and Sogod Bay Scuba Resort is my favorite place to come back to. The diving there is fantastic and varied: some of the best wall/reef diving anywhere plus lots of macro/muck subjects. Also lots of turtles, whalesharks and we often get to see dolphins while crossing the bay. As good as the diving is, the people are what really makes the place special for me. The staff at Sogod Bay Scuba resort are friendly, warm, hard-working and fun loving! The resort itself is just steps from the water with clean comfortable rooms and fantastic views. The restaurant is also fantastic with a large menu and reasonable prices. It takes some travel to get there, but it is well worth it as the diving is not crowded and the locale not over-tourist-ed. I look forward to visiting there again soon!
We just returned from a 4-day stay at the Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and are sad we had to leave so soon...we enjoyed every moment! Every single member of the staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming and kind - they immediately make you feel at home. We stayed in the Deluxe Oceanfront Room, which is very spacious and comfortable - and only two steps from the beautiful beach. The room and facilities are kept very clean, the restaurant was delicious and - again - we just felt very comfortable and happy all around.
The diving itself was spectacular. We took the larger boat for all of our trips, which was the perfect size and very comfortable. The boat crew and dive masters are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our dive master Greg went out of his way to find and show us even the smallest sea creature (all of which we would have certainly missed without him), while at the same time leaving us space and time to explore by ourselves. Every dive spot was amazing. We even saw dolphins on our way there! Overall, this was some of the most relaxing diving we have ever done - nothing was rushed and we were always taken great care of.
The resort takes some time to get to from Tacloban, but it is well worth the trip. The next time, we will absolutely stay longer!
The resort is not the easiest place to access - ferry from either Bohol or Cebu or flight from Manila with 4 hour road transfer - but the visit is well worth the effort, with excellent and varied diving and a comfortable resort, with friendly and efficient staff, awaiting you.
For diving, there is a purpose built diving banqa that accesses dive sites on both sides of Sogod Bay and Limisawa Island and reveals a varied array of wildlife from pygmy seahorses to whale sharks on muck and reef dive sites and, if it’s there to be seen, the excellent local dive guides will find it for you. I take my own gear with me but the resort hire equipment is first class and all levels of (PADI) instruction are available from the resident instructor, Pedro.
The accommodation is comfortable, with some being immediately shoreside and other rooms set back from the beach and the restaurant serves up a varied local and western menu, with daily specials available.
I am a BSAC Advanced Diver/Advanced Instructor, with ca 2,700 dives and have visited Sogod Bay Scuba Resort about 8 times and, like General MacArthur, I shall return - it’s just so good, with a high proportion of the clientele being “returns”.
I have had two vacations at Sogod Bay Scuba Resort and am working on my third. It is becoming an annual pilgrimage.
Great location, awesome scuba diving and the service is fantastic both above and below the water and you are treated as family and friends.
Not the easiest place to get to but well worth the effort.
I have nothing but high praise for the Sogod Bay Scuba Resort. Due to an emergency eye surgery, I had to reschedule our entire trip at the last minute. Annalyn's help in rebooking our room was nothing short of amazing! She secured us another room and made sure the process was as painless as possible during this stressful time !
When we finally made our trip and got to the island, our room was clean and spotless. The food and diving was great. The staff made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were addressed. Again, kudos to Annalyn, Reya, Lovely and Pedro for making our 11 night stay at the resort memorable !
We can't wait to get back soon !
Great dive resort. Located in a small quiet coastal town. The town center is just a short tuktuk ride away. Sogod dive ha resort has very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I enjoyed my stay here. I would love to go back during the season for whale shark spotting.
We stayed at Sogod bay for 3 nights. I think it’s the best run dive operation I have dived with, Pedro is not only Charming but also runs a very tight ship, super professional. Luna is also an absolute rockstar and lovely as well. Annalyn helped me organise my trip and was wonderful, she makes a mean fried chicken too!
Our room was lovely and clean, and I loved the ceiling fan.
If you’re going to Sogod Bay, these are the folks you want to stay with.
Everyone pulls together with great humour and efficiency. They have a stake in this small and well run outfit and it shows. Dive guides are knowledgeable and able and boat crew proactive and helpful. A stunning location with good variety of dive sites and critters to see and photo. Food is varied and good, a mix of Filipino and Western. It’s a quiet place and the main restaurant area shuts at 9 but that’s OK by me. Early to bed early to rise when diving, well done Phil, Pedro, Darleen, David, Gregorio, Raya, Luna, Annelin, Michelle, Nino,Punoy and Aman, I hope to be back
We where there this summer, me and my family.
I have never dived before, but choose too go for the PADI open water diver, it looked so exciting.
I got a teacher, Pedro, a very experienced and friendly, smiling fellow, who took his time to teach me in a perfect pace.
The dives there was so beautiful, for me seeing corals for the first time was mind blowing.
In the evenings it was a nice place to relax whit the sound of the ocean, good food and cold beers!
Really hope life gives me a chance too swing by again one day!
The attention to detail from the team at Sogod was amazing. It was definitely one of the most relaxing and well run dive holidays I've been on in recent years. I'll definitely be making plans to come back soon!
This is a small resort located at Southern Leyte, but overall, for a resort at the area, it is above standard. The staffs are exceptionally helpful and friendly, and they tried to accomodate everyone's favourite.
The staff was very nice and the diving was excellent the staff really went out of there way to show us some great diving I would go here over Scotty’s diving any day
The service at the resort was fantastic throughout our entire stay. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed - items in the fridge were very cheap! The restaurant is located right on the beach front which lovely and the food was delicious for dinner and breakfast. Overall we had a great time and would recommend the resort to anyone staying in the area
