It’s breathtaking lake view, the pictures on the website is not doing its justice. The pool indoor and outdoor both are great, the water play ground is lovely.
Best Hotel Room. Wonderful size with amazing view and comfortable window seats. I loved the large bath tub and the shower. This is a very chinese hotel, I only saw one foreigner.
The pool is misleading in the photo and a bit strange. the Marriot shares the pool and the fitness room with the Renaissance hotel next door AND there is no Hot Tub. I actually choose this hotel because of the hot tub so I was disappointed.
Further, the pool and fitness areas are in a separate building between the 2 hotels. You have to wade past reception and go outside to get to the pool area. Also I forgot that in China, in order to swim, you need to wear a swim hat and for men, you need to wear a chinese style bathing suit. Western style bathing suits are frowned upon because they look too much like shorts.
The Marriot and the Renaissance hotels have prime location in the area and is convinent to see all the local sites.
Only 1 of the 3 restaurants for dinner was open and we couldn't get a reservation. This was strange because the hotel seemed packed with Chinese Families out for the weekend. Then... we took a taxi to the nearest restaurants.. and bumped into all the hotel families. obviously the local restaurants are going to be much cheaper than the hotel.
This hotel is a lovely Marriot but very Chinese. Good luck finding a hotel staff member who speaks english!
Two many people during the National Day holiday.
Perfect location. You can see the fabulous Taihu lake scene from the lake view room. All of the staff are friendly and helpful. There was even a night swimming pool party for children when I stayed there. And the breakfast is also good.
After all, the hotel is quite lovely.
Very quiet and relaxed arra. Outdoor pools fantastic. Fitness centre very good.
Brrakfast valso very good
Staff was very polite and can speak.little.english
Facilities,location
The western breakfast was ok but the is not enough fruits. There was only a coffee machine. Staff are friendly and hardworking but inefficient.
The gym is nice with very good equipment
There was impossible to stay comfortable in the outdoor swimming pool because of noisy air conditioner machine at the roof of the internal swimming pool. I measured 90 decibel of noise that was so loud that we couldn't talk or hear what people were saying. After a few minutes it was unbearable to be in the pool. There were many services that were not working, for example the bar and the towel service in the pool area, the lobby bar rarely had staff serving, the ice creams were in poor condition and the service in the restaurant on the 11th floor did not have most of the dishes from the menu. In the indoor pool part of the floor is made of polished marble that is very dangerous when wet, in fact I and other guest slipped and fell on the floor.
There is no access to the lake from the hotel and just a little market to buy snacks nearby. The maintenance of the gardens is not good.
Excellent service, specially Restaurant & Bar staff.
总体环境和居住舒适度都不错。 附近就是太湖,晨跑很舒服。 早餐总体可以,但是缺乏本地特色。
唯一的问题是酒店隔壁客房有人抽烟,导致房价烟味。
Being a Marriott titanium member, this is the first time I give a one star review to any property. I don't even know where to start. These two propertes(Marriott & Renaissance SuZhou Taiho) are not at Marriott standard in any way. They are ridiculously overated! I honestly think their ratings need to be investigated.
The rooms are small (but are new, which is the only good thing here). The breakfast is lousy, messy, disorganized and bad quality. Suzhou courtyard Marriott is superior compare to what they serve here. Upon arrival, they told us that recently they change from hotel to resort, so they don't offer lounge or other business services. But as a resort, they offer no activity or program. There's not much food options around the area, the dining choices are limited and poor.
The room types are all available on the Marriott website, upon arrival they say no room left, after I showed them the availability on the website, then they say it must be someone cancelled at that moment. Are you serious? Who are you trying to fool? Honesty is the Marriott brand, this property obviously missing the key point.
After I pointed out the problems, the management apologized and made all the empty promises for the next time, they offered me 1000 compromise points which I refused.
Stay away from this expensive and overated Renaissance SuZhou Taiho and Marriott SuZhou Taiho hotels!! SuZhou is a beautiful place to visit. If you want a memorable SuZhou experience, choose a different Marriott SuZhou property.
I initially encountered some bad experience with their customer service that the bonus points they promised to grant to me for my wedding being held in this property has never arrived. The Sales Manager who contacted with me since beginning turned out to be resigned which is why my emails sent to him never got responded, which made me really angry.
Ever since I posted my experience on TripAdvisor, their staff quickly reached out to me, apologized and explained what happened and promised me the issue will be resolved soon. Two days after the communication, I got my wedding bonus points along with other nice little perks I didn't expect. I think they really put their customer first and they way they handle my issue is really impressive and deserve to be spread out.
I want to thank Miss Lan Li especially for handling my case. She did an excellent job to help me with great passion and care. The hotel itself is outstanding, my overall experience with Suzhou Marriott Hotel Taihu Lake is still great, I will stay here again and would like to recommend it to my friends.
Both the West Lake of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province of China and the Taihu Lake of Jiangsu Province of China are very famous. Both are dotted by many high-end hotels. This Marriott is neighbored by its sister brand Renaissance and share facility with each other. I stayed one night here. The lady at the reception gave me a wonderful suite due to my platinum status. The view of Tahihu was gorgeous. The suite was very modern. It was a great start. But things happened later gradually disappointed me. First of all, the restaurant at the Renaissance ran out of material for almost 1/3 of their menu at 7 pm. But the restaurant manager was so kind that she offered ma a bottle of wine and a fish dish as compensation, which made up for the inconvenience. Later, I found out that all bars of the Marriott and Renaissance closed at 10:30 pm. The explanation was that "there were not enough customers." At midnight, several guests went out to buy beers to bring back to the hotel lobby to drink together, which was a very sad scene. Such kind of disappointments will not happen in the West Lake of Hangzhou. Finally, the Marriott and Renaissance hotels positioned themselves as family resort. However, everything for kids needed payment: train ride for RMB150/10 min; lego room for RMB120/hour. Very annoying. I think the West Lake is more family friendly than the Taihu Lake. But I must admit that the staffs at the reception and the lounge were so helpful that it is really difficult for me to rate this hotel too low.
I stayed here for a few nights while working in Suzhou. Its a bit far from where I needed to be, but worth the extra commute!
Nice gym and pool area. Decent gym and sauna too!
The executive lounge was nice and quiet, and the staff very helpful with keeping drinks topped off at night.
Guest service manager Kim Sun was very helpful and a great guy to talk with.
This hotel is really a hidden gem. The hotel is less than 1 year old and it is located in the quiet tourist (family vacation) zone. It is steps from the golf course and to the Lake Taihu. This is a relatively quiet zone compared with the busy Shanghai and the near-by SuZhou city.
We were upgraded to a club level suite. Very spacious and in excellent condition. This hotel and the Renaissance hotel next door share the same pool and outdoor area.
The club lounge has huge selections of food and decent drinks. We had no complaints.
I'd highly recommend this hotel. The only thing is that the Renaissance is in front of the Marriott hotel. I booked the Marriott since I always consider Marriott is at higher level than Renaissance. Not sure if this is true. I think both hotels are about the same here with Renaissance having a better view of the lake.
I spent 4 days in Suzhou this month for a business conference and I must say that I am actually quite impressed with Suzhou and its surroundings. I did not quite see the Venice of China as is illustrated in the tourist magazines but the city was indeed criss-crossed with water canals with some pretty Chinese style bridges, generally very green and well built up with several modern Western style quartiers and leisure spots. Marriott Hotel was one of those relatively recently built up hotels by the lake and the golf course with its twin hotel Radisson firmly attached right through its bowels and sharing common management conference facilities and amenities. The cleanliness and quality of the material and finish was fairly visible everywhere in the hotel from the reception to the rooms to conference facilities and bars and restaurants. The room was big, clean and comfortable with many little luxuries and sleeping was a joy on the big, comfortable bed and in the quiet setting of the hotel. The staff were nice and friendly with a big smile (at least most of them), however, the majority was very inexperienced and spoke hardly any or very little English. That, of course, made life a little difficult and complicated when it came to asking about the food at breakfast or ordering a coffee in the reception cafe or checking the availability of spirits at the bar. Overall a reasonably good stay but once the staff is better trained/experienced and can communicate with international customer much better, it will be a great business and leisure hotel for all.
Good experience and the Hotel is located near the Beautiful lake. The hotel staff is very nice and fridendly. The hotel lounge is quiet in Friday evenings and HH provided menu good instead of buffet. The service staff Eva and Tracy are very nice and kind -:)
Amazing clean room & great staff. Special thanks yo Tracy, Cynthia & Tiffany. All the best for all of you.
Amazing scenery of Taihu Lake. We can enjoy cycling and playing golf here.
Good weather and unforgetable memory
Hotel very nice and clean, new Hotel with good standard and very good landscape.
Their staff also nice and very helpfull, new few of them name Cynthia, Tiffany and Tracy
Will surely comeback for next trip in suzhou.
;)
We stayed at the Marriott for two nights for our anniversary. From the check in with Avril, things were so smooth, and the staff were so helpful throughout our stay. We received a free upgrade and were able to enjoy the executive lounge where Elsa and her team were so kind and thoughtful. The staff went above and beyond to make our anniversary weekend special. We received a hand written card and bottle of wine in our room. The hotel itself is very clean and modern. The swimming pool and fitness center are actually located in the Renaissance next door (about a five minute walk if you stay inside the buildings). The fitness center has everything you would need. There is also a sauna and steam room in the locker room. Don't forget your swim cap if you plan on swimming (otherwise you can buy one on sight). The breakfast buffet was extensive in its options and had delicious fresh fruit and cheese. Our favorites were the pancakes and waffles! The pastries at breakfast were our least favorite-a bit dry and not very flaky. The location is wonderful as it a short walk from the lake with a great running/cycling path running alongside. You can also rent bicycles from the hotel. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and hope to return again someday!
