Didnt give me 300ft square room. Had a small room in the attic and it was sot hot
The location. Central to Llangollen, lovely view of the church yard. Location was the only thing going for the hotel. Never felt less welcome booking into a place and everything was just a bit dirty and could have done with some love.
Very grumpy staff. We visited in a heat wave so maybe this accounted for their grumpiness but my head was bitten off by the receptionist when we popped in before check in time to see if it was OK to park in the car park which had to be paid for. As there was a payment required not sure why I checked just courtesy. Really naffed off I had booked through Booking.com and barked instructions at me. At that point I wanted to turn around but actually not rich enough to lose the cancellation fee. Parked the car spent a lovely day in Llangollen and returned to check in much later in the day. Different receptionist equally grumpy that she had to go through a pile of invoices for people that had booked via booking.com. Only thing else she had to say was to pay for parking. I didn't as we had already done it but shouted me back to say pay for parking and indicated the machine. Explained I had already done so earlier. Our room was on the top floor - no lift but was aware of this however handrails sticky and non existent on some parts of the stairs. Bedding clean but the rest of the room and bathroom could have done with a lot of TLC (wall paper coming away from the walls, odd assortment of furniture, cracks in the bathroom lino). Standard tea/coffee facilities but two cups one spoon which didn't end the world was slightly annoying and summed up our stay. Had a cold shower and left. Returned to sleep. Repeated the second day but this time thought we would have a drink and sit outside before going for a shower. Waited the length of 2 songs for a bar man to arrive. I could see him outside smoking not sure if he could see me but if he did he didn't care - came in and said he had needed a bit of air (which was apparent later when he was round the back hacking up a lung) as it had been manic. Have stayed at similar ranked hotels which could do with bit of updating in terms of decoration but they were clean and the staff amazing.
