Firstly, the hotel currently has ongoing construction, and the jackhammer noise goes on throughout the day, which really impacts the overall stay experience.
Secondly, this is a joint property shared between Novotel and Mercure, which wasn’t very clear during booking.
The location was also disappointing. The nearest MRT is at least 1 km away, and walking in Singapore heat and humidity is extremely uncomfortable. We ended up taking taxis everywhere and honestly wished we had booked somewhere closer to the city centre instead.
There are also very limited nearby food options no shopping centre, food court, or proper street food within easy walking distance. Because of this, we mostly had to eat at the hotel restaurants, which were quite expensive.
Another downside was that Novotel seems to allocate many guests to Level 3 rooms rather than higher floors.
Breakfast was average at best. The same menu was repeated for 3 consecutive days with limited variety, and dessert/sweet options were almost non-existent.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel for a leisure holiday experience. If you’re visiting Singapore for sightseeing and convenience, I’d strongly suggest staying somewhere around Orchard Road or near the river/city centre instead.
