I can't really say that I liked anything.
The building was rundown and did not match the photos on the site. There was no view. It felt dark and depressing.
We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit. Our group of 10 enjoyed both breakfast and dinner over three nights, and the food was consistently delicious.
A special thank you to the manager, Vajira, and the rest of the team. After we checked out, our pre-booked van (organized externally) was late, and we were at serious risk of missing our train. The staff quickly stepped in to assist and arranged tuktuks for us on very short notice. Thanks to their help, we made it to the station in time.

I had booked a dorm bed. When i arrived the worker told me that this room is usually booked by local drivers and being a woman he wouldnt feel comfortable placing me in it. He gave me a fully private double bedroom for the same price.
I think the management did not really like it ;) but he insisted. It was very kind of him.
The breakfast is great, and the location is relaxing and amazing.

Affordable and offering an amazing view, my stay at the Ella Mansion Hotel was truly fantastic. The view from the hotel was absolutely stunning, without a doubt one of the best in the area. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to help. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Ella with exceptional hospitality. The staff's kindness and attentiveness made the stay even better. I’ll definitely be returning on my next trip, and I highly recommend it for anyone traveling to Ella.
Choosing where to stay in Ella can be overwhelming, but I can’t recommend Ella Mansion enough. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel incredibly welcome, going above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. They not only helped us organize the next leg of our journey but also shared insights into life in Sri Lanka, which was such a nice touch. When we had an early departure, they even packed us a takeaway breakfast, which really impressed us. We ended up extending our stay by an extra night because we enjoyed it so much!
The hotel truly has everything you could ask for: comfortable, clean rooms; delicious breakfasts; a location that’s close enough to the city but just far enough to feel peaceful; excellent value for money; and a team of amazing staff/hosts who genuinely care about making your stay as perfect as possible.
The best place to stay in Ella, we had a wonderful stay at Ella mansion for 2 nights with my family , amazing view to have the breakfast, rooms are very clean and very comfortable beds, all the staff were so helpful, resort located very close to all the attractions that u need to visit in Ella,thank you

Everything is perfect as we expected
The room was great and the people who work at this place are very friendly! Do not hesitate to book at this hotel!
We loved the location, plus the views from the viewing platforms. Which are upstairs above the bedrooms.The first floor platform where we ate breakfast has amazing vistas. Then there's a second floor platform which gave you an even better views.
The bedrooms are located on the ground floor, which we found comfortable and the ensuite
showers were hot. The balcony looks directly into the hotel next door, but to the right of the balcony, we had a wonderful view of the mountains.
The owner/manager, plus all the staff, were exceptional, so friendly, funny, and engaging. nothing was too much trouble for them. whatever we requested, they bent over backwards to do for us.
The staff were also able to order us tuk tuks and taxis's , when needed , and we were a short tuk tuk drive from the town centre and train station. The tuk drivers were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area, and we soon made friends.. They gave us their wats app numbers and would pick us up later once we had finished being in town. No matter how late , they always came back for us, which was very reassuring. We loved the peace and quiet of Ella mansion, too. No loud music or loud noises. We had one problem with the bathroom sink leaking at one point, but it was quickly repaired.
We enjoyed the breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, tea, and fruit every morning ,and had a couple of lunches that we also enjoyed. Most of the time, we were out, so we ate lunch and dinner in town, but the chef was always on hand if we decided to stay in the hotel for the day.
We enjoyed lunches of both chicken, with salad and chips, and the tuna fish lunch was cooked to perfection..
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
Ella mansion was suitable for what we needed. In fact, we booked in for 2 days and then extended our stay.
I would definitely stay here again if only to see the staff, we left feeling we had made really good friends.
Last thing, we found it to be a lot cooler here than at the beach. I had to buy 2 hoodies to keep warm, plus it felt a little damp, as we were up in the clouds in Ella. but i must say it was a welcome relief from the heat. However, a few days later, the temperature changed, and we were sweating again. Thank you, Ella mansion, for taking such wonderful care of us, we look forward to coming back again.
The staff are amazing. Good food at the restaurant. Breakfast was very good. The rooms are clean. Would recommend it to anyone.
The rooms were very spacious and nice, there were incredible views, and the staff was amazing. Everybody was very kind and accommodating and helped us with anything we needed.
The location was a little challenging to get to but beyond that our stay was very pleasant.
It is convenient and 2-3kms away from the main ella city. No hassle and staff helped us to rent a scooter too. It is worth for the money and breakfast is soo good. We tried the Sri Lankan menu.
Bathroom needs to be a bit more clean. Other than that it is so good.
