This small, family run hotel is well situated for exploring Cat Ba town on foot. The room was spacious but basic. The AC and fans worked well cooling the room. Rooms at the front are noisy from the Main Street. My room at the back was quieter with only noise coming from the kids in the school next door. Chang and her family were really helpful and were able to rent me a moped - highly recommended for exploring the island and National Park areas. There are lots of shops & restaurants nearby the hotel and the main seafront is an easy 5 minute walk down the hill. The included breakfast was simple and prepared when required, consisting of fried eggs, toasted roll and salad. There are so many restaurants offering cheap breakfasts nearby that I explored a variety of these. Overall, it’s basic but good value, friendly and in a great location.
