I think we chose the best place to stay in bora bora! Things I loved were.
Close to 2 grocery stores and several restaurants.
Wonderful breakfast buffet.
Nice restaurant. The only one we ate at more than once.
Lovely pool and shady beach with plenty of chairs.
Not crowded or busy ever!
Great excursions. And lovely spa!
Friendly staff that remember your name.
Walk to matira Beach. No car needed.
Nice units with AC , deck, mini fridge, kettle and king beds.
Lovely gardens!
We stayed at the Hotel Royal Bora Bora for 3 nights and it was a pleasant surprise. I wasn't expecting too much as we were going to do an overwater bungalow at another resort after this but this hotel is very good value for the money. The rooms are across the street from the lobby, pool and restaurant but that is not a problem as the road is not busy. The rooms were large and clean with air conditioning and it was quiet. The beach was small but good for swimming and/or snorkeling. The restaurant was good not great but ok for breakfast buffet - lots of choose from. The location of the hotel is excellent. There is a small grocery corner store 2 minutes up the street and Matira Beach is about a 15 minute walk away. The road has a marked area for people to walk safely, with lights at night and there are several good restaurants within easy walking distance. We felt very safe even at night. I would recommend especially if you are on a budget.
Holiday of a life time, stayed in four hotels over two weeks, Hotel Bora Bora was sadly the only one that disappointed. Rooms were dark dated and at night had cockroaches in the bathroom, but were other wise clean and comfortable. Most staff were helpful when required to be, though planning excursions and trips via the hotel was a strain as the staff member chose not to understand English when they wished to, and actively sought to dissuade us from activities like whale watching, or would tell us she had booked an activity but would confirm it later in the day, or the next, or not at all. This lead to a wasted day.
Food was of an adequate standard though pricey for what it was. Beach front was OK but small.
Great holiday, but would struggle to recommend this hotel.
Our room had everything we needed and it’s an easy walk to the beach. We rented bikes and also scooters through the hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had a Polynesian buffet and show the night we checked in which was great. My only complaint was the restaurant wasn’t great, although we did enjoy the breakfast.
This is an affordable hotel in Bora Bora. The desk staff and restaurant staff are friendly and fun. The rooms are large, and the furnishings are suitable for the price of these rooms. The beach, pool, and restaurant are all located across the street. The hotel arranged transfers to and from the airport.
Enjoyed our stay at hotel Royal. Good amenities, clean, kind staff. One restaurant but they have many options, we ate there often. Breakfast had many choices and was very good. Excellent beach, calm, relaxing, good for snorkeling. The pool is very nice as well. Stayed for our honeymoon.
Great
Great spot!! Amazing beach, great food and drinks reasonably priced. Fantastic staff and service with a smile! If you’re doing Bora Bora you get more bang for your buck here than crammed into an over water villa!
This is a great property; they have a nice beach and is an excellent value for the money. My only feedback is that on occasion I wish the staff would come across a little warmer in regard to their interaction. But overall, this is an excellent place to stay!
This hotel was better than I was expecting. I was really pleased with the standard of accommodation. The rooms are arranged in small house like structures around a central, lush, green garden with the mountains behind. They are located over the road from the main hotel buildings with the restaurant, but this is not inconvenient. There is also a fresh water drinking fountain available to fill bottles etc. Very useful.
The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is well designed, with a good shower. There was an outside sitting area that looked onto the garden. It was very private and quiet. There are relatively few places to stay on Bora Bora in the price range of this hotel. I believe it is good value for money.
The breakfast was good, with a nice variety of dishes, fruit, cereals etc. Each day there were also hot dishes available and these changed, so it was not always the same bacon and eggs!
Given that in French Polynesia in general the variety of food is quite limited as almost everything is imported, I thought the standard of food was very good and there was a nice range of dishes on the restaurant menu. I ate one evening meal and several lunches.
The views from the small beach are lovely, especially in the evening. The hotel is small, most are non the island, so there isn't a feeling that there are crowds of people. The atmosphere is very calm and pleasant. The staff were very polite and helpful.
There is a shop a couple of minutes walk away to buy anything you might need like drinks or snacks. There are also a few restaurants within a 15 min walk maximum.
If I have the good fortune to return to Bora Bora, I would stay here again.
Room ok for the price. Staff not friendly at reception. Pool suppoesed to look into the 'ocean',but blocked by shrubs that they grew infront of it.
We stayed at the Royal Bora Bora for only one night in between other parts of our trip but should have planned for more nights here. While the pool is small and the fish sandwiches we had at the bar restaurant were awful, the overall resort is charming, a cool Polynesian vibe, great breakfast buffet and family friendly games area near the very nice beach with kayaks available. It is walkable to the famous Matira beach, which was beautiful, and the hotel has fun transportation to town available for guests. We were there in July during the Heiva Polynesian dance competitions, which were amazing to watch. Highly recommend for a quality, reasonably priced stay.
Great location
Great size of the bedroom w/ huge bed
Nice park to access the rooms
Great breakfast buffet, especially the “crêpes”
Maybe some free kayaks or SUPs?
It was too expensive for the level of service we experienced.
Great location and staff, everyone I encountered was lovely and helpful. Tour Desk staff were brilliant ,organised all my activities, clean rooms ,lovely pool and right on the beach. Reasonable price and nice included breakfast.
Beautiful day spa with many msages etc available, but sadly over priced.
Its an older hotel. But still well kept. Front desk staff very friendly. I like the quietness and the low-key of this hotel. Is not pretentious like the four seasons. Also it's location is better to be on the island instead of the atolls. Having a nice buffet breakfast is a plus
Lovely grounds! Hotel restaurant was ok.. definitely go exploring. Beach was beautiful
Very clean rooms with pure white bedsheets. Public areas all really clean and inviting. All amenities in excellent condition. We booked two adjacent twin rooms for a family of 4. There is an extra, smaller ‘built in bed’ in every room for families of 3. Empty mini fridge in every room - for chilling your own bottled water/drinks. Very good daily buffet breakfast with plenty of choice including a variety of fresh fruit, (included in room rate!). Nice, clean beach with beautiful views, live coral and fish to explore from the shore. Plenty of sun loungers and shade umbrellas on beach and by pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good, free WiFi. Activities desk open daily to book snorkelling trips etc : competitively and fairly priced compared to Viator. Bring your own snorkels and fins - the hotel doesn’t have any to rent. Kayaks, paddle boards, bicycles, e-bikes, car & scooter rental all available via hotel activities desk. Avis office 10 mins walk away. Convenience store 100 yards away - cash only under 1000xpf ($10) Hotel does not exchange currency, but can withdraw XPF at Bank of Polynesia ATM in Vaitape. Taxis/Transfers to the main town of Vaitape are pricey. Car rental approx 10,000xpf ($100) per day. Bring DEET mosquito repellant even during ‘dry season’. Our ‘Zevo’ repellent was ineffective!
It’s was a nice quiet and had a beautiful beach
What a beautiful hotel ..just my style ..my room was so nice and the beautiful tropical view with roosters running around was awesome and just a quick jaunt across the street (like 10 steps ) through the lobby onto the most beautiful beach just like a postcard ! Loved the restaurant also..such friendly staff and really delicious food & view of the beautiful turquoise water …was very clean also…can’t say enough good things about this place !!!
