Bedbugs! Beware!

I am writing this review to warn potential guests about a bed bug issue in two separate buildings.

We always check hotel rooms for bed bugs. After checking into our room, we lifted up the mattress and found half of a dead bed bug. We took a clear photo of it at the time.

When I called to speak to the front desk, the lady told me that it was probably a roach. I'm not okay with sleeping with roaches under my mattress, either. They offered to put us in a different building, but we declined, and opted for a hotel.

We moved to the hotel. The Holiday Inn in Pittsfield/Lenox is new, and very nice!

We figured that the bed bugs were an isolated incident. Two people (my in-laws, who booked/paid for our timeshare) stayed in a different building here.

Last night, I was SHOCKED to learn that they returned home with severe reactions:

One family member came home with bites covering both of his legs.

Another developed welts all over her back.

We hung out in their room, and now I'm worried that we brought them home, because we had an open bag filled with board games that we left on their living room floor for a few hours.

Roaches don't generally hang out under mattresses.

BEWARE of this property. Huge black bears roaming near the rooms going through large, UNLOCK garbage bins. One bear was outside our room. Back bears will attack. No signage. Negligent management.
In addition, we were with a large block of rooms attending a wedding at the Edith Wharton House. Two nice pairs of slacks were destroyed by the iron in our room. I took the iron, both pants, and a note to the front desk for management to look at. We asked for nothing in return even though we had to race out and purchase presentable clothing. A couple weeks after returning home, a female manager sent a snide email accusing us of using the iron on a medium or high setting. Both slacks were ironed on a low setting. Shame on her. Many people stayed there with our group. We did not have the audacity to tell the wedding party of this second faulty iron issue, and rain on their joy. Most people were made aware of the bears by other guests, not management. It will be interesting how this manager tries to spin her way out of this dangerous day and night situation involving unlock garbage bins and black bears eating strewn garbage throughout the resort.

There are so many things… the amenities were amazing. The heated indoor and outdoor pools were well kept - the game room, the poolside bar and miniature golf course added extra fun!! Our 2 bedroom villa was in the perfect location for us. It was near the activities but yet had some privacy. The villa itself was clean and comfortable. It was perfect for a Mother daughter birthday get away.

The location was great. Easy access to Stockbridge, Lenox, Lee, Great Barrington, grocery stores, the Mass Pike. The staff were very responsive. The kitchen was pretty well equipped.
