Excellent location
Pros:

Excellent city centre location. Less than 10 minute walk to the venue we were going to. Characterful entrance. Breakfast was fine. Powerful shower. Warm. Great bar with great service.

Cons:

Lift wasn’t working when we visited. Pool area could do with attention. Disturbed multiple times 1-3am by multiple guests returning and being noisy in rooms - rooms were close together and sound travelled very easily.

A grand hotel in a perfect location
Pros:

This is a grand hotel, overlooking the pedestrian-friendly market square, with the old Town Hall and Tourist Information Centre only a few yards away. A perfect location, in the heart of the city and only a short walk from the railway station. The hotel is well-placed for city centre shops and is also ideally-placed for an exploration of the old town, including the Cathedral and Castle. A very good history trail map is available from the tourist office (price £1). I had a single room - a narrow L- shaped room - not a great deal of space but pleasant enough for a two-night stay. Breakfast was good, with all the usual options, including cereals, fruit and a cooked breakfast, served buffet style. Very happy with my stay.

Pros:

Liked the room and location. Nice big room with good outlook.

Cons:

unfortunately the lift was out of order. As we were on the second floor and I have a heart condition I found it very difficult to climb the stairs. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
