Gion Misen Furumonzen

We love this hotel and preferred this hotel to the other one we stayed in the "city" side of town. This hotel is in the heart of the Gion district in the quieter section (not touristy section). It's close to a lot, but yet nice and quiet when your return from a full day of activities. Make sure to explore the surrounding streets - we picked a random place for dinner and just loved it.

We enjoyed how the hotel was very small and intimate - we never encountered anyone at breakfast. Breakfast was very simple, I kinda wish it had more options, but yet I didn't go hungry, and it was actually nice as some of the included breakfast buffets have so much, that I end up over eating!

The room was modern and had everything we needed. There's a separate shower room and toilet room off the bathroom. The shower had very high pressure and I had no problem with hot water. Very nice. I do wish the TV had some international choices, not just Japanese, (or maybe closed caption English) - but it really wasn't a problem as I didn't come to Japan to watch TV.

The staff was very sweet as well. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again!

We wanted to book somewhere comfortable at the start of our trip knowing we’d be tired after 24 hours of travel and this was perfect. Location wise, we could walk to most of the places we wanted to see, the team were so friendly, accommodating and helpful and the room itself was stunning and so comfortable with tons of storage. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay

Our stay was amazing! Gion Misen Furumonzen was a great introduction to Kyoto. The location is a hidden gem while conveniently located across the street from a Lawson convenience store. The little bar was a sweet addition to the experience. This was by far the cleanest hotel I've ever stayed in (in the world). The staff were considerate and helpful. We loved it so much, we booked an extra night. 10/10 recommend this hotel.

The garden room is very nice, but the walls are very thin. We could hear everything in the room above us.

English speaking support staff. Room amenities were great, including coffee beans to grind your coffee fresh.

The perfect location! A short walk to some amazing restaurants and attractions, whilst still being in a very quiet street. Staff were great, hotel was cozy and quiet, more traditional bedding lower to the floor so just be mindful if you have back issues. No issues for us, super comfy stay and for 4 nights it was ideal for us.

Small but awesome inn within walking distance of main Gion shopping street. Super nice staff and friendly bartender. Room and incredible wet room shower/ bath room and separate ultra high end toilet that was worth the stay by itself. Nice and quiet.

While the surrounding area almost made my wife turn around (neighboring buildings looked rundown). While entering the hotel she was quickly calmed. The hotel and room itself was very clean and everything looked pristine and new. Best location with just a few meters to gion the beautiful gion street and a few minute walk to food and shopping.

Excellent petit hôtel dans un quartier calme et très interessant avec petites rues, petits restaurants et magasins mais pas loin d’animation de Kyoto. Chambre très confortable avec excellent espace sanitaire très propre et bien équipé. Personnel très attentif. Petit déjeuner occidental simple mais bon avec option japonais en réservant à l’hôtel partenaire à cinq minutes de marche. Nous recommandons sans hésitation.

The proximity to Gion is great - staff provided a high chair in our room which was a nice touch.

I stayed here for two nights over my honeymoon two years ago and was over the moon about this location. Therefore, when we came back to fully experience Kyoto we thought coming back here was a no-brainer. We were wrong. Therr were several spiders in our room, room cleaning was very minimal (they only replaced the body towels and disposables as well as emptying the trashcans), the room was extremely dusty and dirty (coffee stains) on the walls and ceilings, they also never refilled our water. Unsure if and how things have changed, but for the price I don’t think I would recommend for a long stay. For a short stay, the space is nice and very spacious with a large tub which was nice after all the walking.

A lovely mix of classic and contemporary. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Strong English for those that require it. Located near a lot of amenities. Best bathroom in any hotel we have ever stayed in.

This small hotel located on a quiet street in Gion. It is very convenient to walk to different tourist spots in central Kyoto and just a min walk to subway and regional train stations. The room is small but clean and neat. Bathroom is well equipped and nice for whole day of walking. Staff are helpful and friendly. I would love to stay here again.
