Speedier service for food orders

The road outside is a little noisy first thing but to be expected in the location and didn't spoil our stay.

Needed a bit of TLC re the paintwork up the stairs and landing. Youngsters on shift on the Sunday afternoon, busy chatting amongst themselves; clearly not interested in engaging with any customers. When placing my food order, I was made to feel like I was really disturbing them! Maybe a training issue.

Nothing, as I expected it to be.

View from the room was poor, but that wasn't the purpose of the visit.

The room was awful very uncomfortable wasn’t worth £139

Not greeted with much warmth or friendliness.
Scruffy decor everywhere, all up the hall, along the corridores and in our room.
Roasting hot and were put in a tiny room with one small high up window and a small fan that did nothing, no air con, it was stifling and unbearable.
Breakfast was a shambles, poor choice, stale bread, no coffee left, no orange juice left, anything out was not covered and there were potential flies around. Ordered sausage and mushroom sandwich, long wait then when arrived there was ONE mushroom spread across 2 slices of stale bread. My husbands full English was lousy.
We had booked 2 nights but had to leave after 1 night we couldnt have.coped in that tiny room again with no aircon.
Was told i would get a refund for the night we cancelled but i am still waiting for this despite numerous messages sent via Booking.com and direct to the Hotel.
We are not ones to complain at all, we have always had great - fabulous stays in all our previous bookings (and there have been alot) but this was not good at all and we were so disappointed.

They should not be selling rooms on a Friday and Saturday night. The large downstairs becomes a night club with thumping music playing until 00 30 and affects all the rooms. Mine was directly above loud sound system.
I asked for my money back and they said I need to claim from Booking.com

Noisy disco in the bar until around midnight and VERY hot room. It was a very hot day unfortunately and I would expected there to be fans supplied in the bedrooms but as there was not this made for an uncomfortable night’s sleep.

Getting to the room was first hurdle lots of stairs and doors and narrow very hot corridors to go through and all was dark, dingy and the handrail to get to the second floor was very low. The room was exceptionally hot and the one window that opened did not blow breeze into room only the small area it was in there was a fan but that did nothing and felt like was going to fall apart
Bathroom was like a sauna no window and an extractor that came on only with the dim light, no hand rail by bath.
Bed was comfortable and clean but the room looked dirty with chipped paint and the carpets could be cleaner
The noise was horrific from the high street and shutting the window meant you couldn’t breathe because of the heat there is a night club on other side of road that closes at 3.30 on a Saturday so the noise from people coming going fighting meant no real sleep until about 4-4.30
Spent as much time out of room as possible due to how hot it was

Clean,good food and good selection of ales,lively venue
