Not worth the price tag
Cons:

Absolutely not worth the price tag. Parking is quite a walk and you have to pay extra despite paying silly money for the room. The bed was comfortable but the room itself desperately needed a freshen up. Paint work shabby at best and carpets definitely needed a refresh. We requested an early check in as we were attending a wedding locally. After messing around at reception for 20 mins we had to give up and get changed in a friend’s room. Despite a helpful receptionist she was trying to contact people and was not getting anywhere. The room had been cleaned but not checked. We even said we were happy to take it but they could not allow it. Definitely would not pay that much to stay there again. Quality no better than a basic hotel.

Great location, great access to facilities, lady roo
Pros:

Location was perfect as we stayed for a local wedding
Staff were attentive and keen to rectify issues identified
Room was large with good views
Amazing to have such easy access to the resort and use of facilities there also

Cons:

Bed was somewhat hard but that’s personal preference
Interconnecting rooms don’t provide a good sound barrier with a neighbour who was very noisy all night long

Average stay
Pros:

The grounds were beautiful location for us was perfect .
We were in the Manor House which on arrival look stunning although inside was bear, dated and rooms very basic with rock hard pillows.

We walked over side to the Celtic resort for breakfast which was delicious.

Cons:

Our room was tired with really hard pillows on the bed, the shower had no water power

Pros:

The Celtic manor side is lovely and the staff that side. Pool very nice could do bit touching up in places. Nice restaurants and concierge bus around the resort

Cons:

Manor house. Tatty. Tatty holey carpet. Unhelpful staff. Climb loads of stairs to your room and lift says could be under maintenance use stairs.
Parking dramas. Pay for parking 13.50 a night. Pay £100 deposit on arrival for room. Pay £40 deposit to book a meal. Service charges on meal. My main meal had no potato or veg bar one onion though some did.
Room needed decorating as the paint was coming off in places. Luckily, the rest of the resort was very nice. Staff wouldn't let you upgrade if unhappy on arrival and Pay for any other room. Recommend Pay extra stay in main resort. I've stayed at coldra before and that was fine. We were just passing through and had an expensive room last weekend so didn't think it would make so much difference. So much better experience from the staff in the main resort. Really dont know why they need the Manor house reception as very dated and not a friendly reception from staff. It seems a bit tucked away so lacking good standards and no information. No care to help you enjoy your stay either .

Very little not to like…..enjoy!
Pros:

This was my second stay at The Manor House at Celtic Manor.
I have enjoyed them both. I have eaten at several of the restaurants on site and look forward to dining at others next time I visit.
There’s not much not to like. Staff were almost all very keen to assist and seemed to exhibit a genuine sense of helping guests to get about, to answer my questions and generally be as helpful as they could be.
My drive from home was of over a hundred miles and I had to visit Cardiff on business whilst on the trip. So I was very tired and in need of getting showered, changed, fed, and bedded in short order. I don’t think I’d be exaggerating if I said I was becoming irritable.
When I stay at hotels, and I have stayed at dozens if not hundreds, I find it convenient to book all expenses to my room by proffering my key/card and signing a chit. When I booked in originally, it was for four nights and cost £540:00. Also, there was a £100:00 payment to lodge as security for any damages or unpaid items. So, £640:00 total.
I need to add that I am arthritic and walking about is painful. I ordered a drink in one of the bars and offered my card/key in evidence of acceptance of responsibility To pay. I was told that I would have to go back to reception (felt like about half a mile to my body) to OK it there.
I explained that I already put a hundred pounds down as surety. This was not accepted. I was NOT happy. I dug in my pockets found some cash and paid there and then. This meant I would not have a fully accurate printed account when my stay ended. Once I had had a good long sit down, and my pain dissipated , I returned to reception to take this up with them. I really didn’t need attitude at this end of a long day.
The reception gentleman, sympathised and checked my hundred pounds down surety. He then said to please enjoy what the hotel had to offer and that I wouldn’t have any more trouble.
I think words may have been exchanged because everything went swimmingly from then on. (The bar staff remembered my name and room number perfectly!)
Now I need to record some tiny observations that I told another responsible staff member. The controls in my room for the air conditioning were without instructions. I did my best but just turned the blessed thing off when I could not make it blow cold for me. The other thing was that my room telephone had no notice for how to reach reception. I tried zero, nothing doing, same with 100, no joy. In the end I used my mobile to ring “bookings” that yielded a response!!
Any way, these niggles aside I was please to stay with The Celtic Collection as they style themselves and expect to do so again.
Thank you Sir Terry Matthew’s.

3/5 stars
Pros:

3/5 Stars
We stayed at the manor house at the end of July and, while the property has character and charm, our overall experience was disappointing for the price paid.
The room was looking quite tired and in need of refurbishment, with worn furnishings and a general lack of upkeep. The bathroom was particularly disappointing due to noticeable mildew, which affected the overall cleanliness and comfort of our stay.
The location and atmosphere of the manor house were pleasant enough, but unfortunately the accommodation did not reflect the premium price. Having stayed in other hotels that were both better maintained and offered higher standards for a lower cost, we felt this stay did not represent good value for money.
Overall, there is potential here, but improvements to room maintenance and cleanliness are needed before we would consider returning.

Not good enough
Pros:

Booking
I recently booked two twin rooms at the Manor House Hotel for a last-minute one-night stay, costing just under £300 in total (including breakfast for a Friday night).

Room Issues
The condition of both rooms was very disappointing and well below expectations. The first room had chipped enamel in the bath, a front door handle that came off in your hand, and an empty cupboard where the fridge should have been.

The second room had damp above the window, threadbare carpet, a fridge with a missing cupboard door, loose fixtures including a loose electrical wall socket, and a bedside lamp with such a short lead that the bed had to be moved to reach a socket. One room had slippers, the other did not, and neither provided spa robes.

These were not minor cosmetic issues but clear maintenance problems. One room was a gift for my elderly parents, and I felt genuinely embarrassed by the standard. I felt the poor maintenance and general appearance of the room looked like I didn’t care where I had booked them to stay. This was not the case and I desperately wanted my mum and dad to have a nice experience.

Service
We raised our concerns during the stay. We were initially offered a move to the sister hotel, the Coldra Court Hotel (about two miles away) which we declined. The hotel did, however, provide a complimentary bottle of wine to share in the bar and free parking for my parents, which helped improve the experience.

I’ve given three stars rather than two because the staff were professional and well-presented,( but there is not a professional approach to room maintenance). Breakfast was good, and the check-in system—where you’re notified when your room is ready—is excellent customer service.

Spa
The spa booking system was straightforward. However, the spa itself was extremely busy and noisy, with many children and families. While it’s great to see families enjoying themselves, the hotel should consider extending slots for adult-only swim sessions in the evening for a more relaxing experience.

Comparison Stay
The following night I stayed in a Signature Room at the main Celtic Manor Resort for the published last minute price of £182, and the difference was striking. The room quality, facilities, and overall experience were significantly better, making the contrast in value difficult to understand given the similar price point.

Conclusion
The Manor House Hotel rooms are in clear need of investment and maintenance. Based on my experience, I would not recommend staying here.

A wonderful hotel and complex, we all can not wait to visit again.
Pros:

Amazing place, we all really enjoyed our stay.

we only had a problem when we arrived, there was a lady behind the Bar, who wasn't very helpful, she was quite rude.
we just avoided her after that, and took advantage of the table service.
