Accommodation. I chose this hotel because it's not a chain. It has a slightly faded elegance. I was in a single room on the top floor. Be warned! There isn't a lift. Those stairs are not for the faint-hearted!
The room was a great size. The bed was fabulous and the pillows the best I've ever slept on. In fact I had a nosy at the make so that I can buy some. Excellent TV selection.
Food. Breakfast was very good. The only reason I didn't give it an excellent is because, for me the bacon was overcooked.
I had two evening meals. The first was the fish and chips and curry sauce. Again, very good. It only doesn't get an excellent because (again, personal taste) the chips were too thick for my taste.
The second night I had the chicken with the bean casserole - absolutely excellent. I had the Organic Malbec and again it was excellent. Both nights I had the hotel's own Gin. The summer gin. I liked it very much.
I covered this above and it's just personal taste. To summarise, over cooked bacon and I didn't like the trifle cooked chips, I found them too thick. I live in France - you could light a fire with our chips. So this is reflected in the score.
The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Bed was very comfortable.
Sitting on the terrace with drinks prior to dinner was lovely. It would have been better if the seats had cushions on them.
We had booked for dinner and were looking forward to it. The food was excellent but we at a loss to understand why we were allocated a table in the bar as opposed to the dinning room The restaurant was being used and had space. The bar area was very noisy with two large parties in, so it would have been more pleasant for us eat in the dinning room.
Our bedroom was on the top floor and a little tired. The worst thing however was an incredibly loud screechy shower pump (assumed that was the problem) being used in the room next door, which woke us up.

Elderly with mobility problems. We were given a top floor room with 2 sets of stairs to climb. Meagre breakfast, Over priced hotel. Lot of cleaning needed around the building .Dinner Limited choice Ended up with fish and chips Mushy peas were a bit of an apology.

Super hotel in a historical building with sweeping views across green valleys, & adjacent to Launceston's famous Norman Castle. Very good food (both breakfast and dinner), & very comfortable room with super bathroom. Highly recommend this hotel, which is also great value for money.

Dated decor, window rattling all night
There was lots to like about this stay. Perfect location, easy to check-in, friendly staff, lovely outdoor space to have a drink, affordable and very tasty food. I stayed in a one-bedroom room and whilst small, I thought it was just so cosy.
The wi-fi in the room was really really poor. If I was staying more than one night I'd have to be asked to change room as it kept cutting out. Also, it feels as though the hotel might be the only nice place to drink in town as it became pretty rowdy in the evening with lots of young people. It didn't bother me too much, but I can imagine it would annoy some paying guests looking to have a quiet drink whilst enjoying the stunning views. Also my room was tucked away, some others might not be so lucky.
Staff attentive and very friendly. Evening meals good. Overall, nice and clean. Room comfortable with large bathroom. Location very good. Plenty of free car parking.
The hotel appearance inside and out is very tired and needs some attention. I should add that the hotel was originally built as an imposing Georgian Villa. New carpets, paintwork throughout, and new furniture in restaurant and bar areas overdue. Some of the bedroom furniture smelled musty. I genuinely don’t want to overplay any negativity, but the shabby chic vibe erred slightly on the side of shabby.
The staff were exceptionally good - very friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel is a historic building and retains much of its Georgian character.
The building needs some maintenance and in particular attention to the windows and doors. These are minor matters as far as its hotel function is concerned. The breakfasts were acceptable but could have been better. The vegan breakfast was very good.
Dinner was lovely and possibly too much to eat! Cider batter on fish was gorgeous and the steak tender and tasty!
Lovely to watch the sun setting over the hills as we enjoyed our meal.
Bed was large and comfy.Great view over the fields.
A new toaster for breakfast!
The staff member at breakfast was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed her jumping in when there seemed to be an issue with the coffee machine. Breakfast was well-prepared and came out swiftly.
The lack of indication where to park. The space directly in front of the building was fully occupied. I'd recommend putting a section on your website (with a satellite view picture!) to indicate where the dedicated parking is. I was told, but decided not to go there as it was a narrow allow with a sharp bend to the left. With a long-wheel-based van it wasn't something I fancied trying after a very long day.
