Property Description

The Little John has eight en-suite bedrooms above the pub and two self-catering cottages beside it, on Station Road in Hathersage. Rooms are bed and breakfast, parking is free, most rooms are dog friendly, and the station is a two minute walk. A base for Stanage Edge, the Hope Valley and Chatsworth.

Guests are required to contact the property if they are planning to bring pets. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian.

What a find!! 10/10!! Will definitely return.
Pros:

Lovely pub inn situated perfectly in the middle of Hathersage village in the Peak District. Large comfortable room, very clean, comfy beds, great views, large bathroom with powerful hot shower. The pub downstairs has good beers, excellent food and even a pool table. All staff were genuinely really nice, very welcoming and friendly.

Pros:

Wow no words can emphasise how much we loved the little john staff food service cleanliness atmosphere a great pint i heard this place has been recently refurbished in the spring so to get to this level by October is amazing the rooms and pub are immaculate the front of house staff so friendly helpful and they pull a great pint and the food amazing I had to have the porchetta 2nights in a row it was so good along with everything else we had from the menu thank you all for a lovely stay🥰

This was such a good find - great night away!
Pros:

Location, comfort and great food! The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Nothing really, although it was noisy in the bar where we ate dinner.

Good room, welcoming staff and excellent location.
Pros:

Good location in Hathersage, slightly away from main road but near to centre. Staff were very welcoming and the good sized room with good shower and had all we needed.

Cons:

Bed was very soft and standard size. A firmer larger bed would be ideal but otherwise all good.

A pleasant comfortable convenient stay
Pros:

Location, comfortable attractive room, friendly staff. Doggy welcome pack 😊

Cons:

Breakfast bar unattended and no decent coffee. Food not labelled and I was misinformed about gluten free sausages as supplier had changed. Member of staff did however go to check and rushed through to warn me that it wasn’t gluten-free: just in time!

Lovely old Pub / Hotel, clean and dog friendly
Pros:

Lovely large Pub / Hotel, very dog friendly, clean room, large en-suite and great showroom. Superb breakfast, good WiFi coverage all over the site. Friendly staff

Cons:

Limited on-site parking, not sure about the oval toilet seat on a rectangular toilet basin in my room en-suite 😂

Great location for walking, fantastic breakfast, customer service was mixed
Pros:

Breakfast was great and the service at breakfast was also fantastic. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Cons:

When we arrived the staff were unattentive - too busy serving at the bar and basically ignored us for ages. It would have been great to just be acknowledged and told that they would be with us shortly. As it was, we just felt like we must be invisible and it took ages to get checked in.

Great place to stay in Hathersage.
Pros:

Excellent location in Hathersage above a good pub/restaurant. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was neat, clean and generally well-equipped.

Cons:

We stayed in the quadruple room. Electric sockets were a bit sparse and there were no bedside lights.

Evening meals were good. Comfy beds in a large room

Cons:

No bedside lamps. Television only watchable when sitting on double bed.. Two steep steps up into bedroom and two steep steps down into ensuite Breakfast food was lukewarm/cold.

Cons:

Buffet breakfast could be better. Warm plates would be good and also needed to be topped up more often, eggs overcooked, beans cold on first morning
