Central location, reasonably priced for the area. Friendly staff.
We have stayed at the Little John many times but feel the standards have dropped on our last visit. The hotel didn’t seem very clean and there were areas of wear and tear in our room. Breakfast plentiful but poor quality produce.
Due to renovations breakfast was at a sister company (bank House) just up the road. Fantastic Vegetarian breakfasts.
Due to the renovations we also recieved discounts at the Bank House and had a wonderful dinner there.
Attentive Management
Good room
Nice village to stroll round and do walks from
Easy parking (maybe the time of year!)
Good location, with short drives to other walk starting points at Hope and Castleton
Everything was great. The rooms are clean, the staff is very friendly and always ready to help. They speak both English and Russian well. The prices are also more than acceptable
Location
Bit noisy and coffee out of a jar . No body /shower gel or shampoo supplied
Great room. Much better than what we expected. Excellent!
Our stay was good …but one member of staff told us food was served until 8.30. When we came down to the bar at 7.50, another member of staff said the kitchen closed at 7.45. After some discussion he agreed to cook us a pizza which was fine. The same guy was doing breakfast which was poor. Instant coffee and cold food. To be fair, for the price we paid I am not too unhappy, but with a few small improvements the Little John could be great.
Everything was lovely and clean, staff were very nice and gave us food and drink vouchers to use as their kitchen and bar were closed for refurbishment.
Great value & great service's & food was excellent too
Room was slightly too warm but had fan so Nothing major
A lovely cozy cottage with everything we needed for our stay.
Nothing
Comfortable and a great location in the centre of Hathersage
There was lots of renovation work going on
Massive rooms, great location, helpful staff. Breakfast also decent, vegan options etc
Not the quietest place to sleep but it is above a popular pub, so what do you expect. Shower took ages to heat up in the morning but when it did, it was great!
Big room
You have to use smart tv with your own sign in to acces the tv content as aerial is not working
The room was a nice size as was the bathroom. We were in the annexe so it was quiet. Breakfast was buffet and very good as was the coffee.
The tv wouldn't work correctly - normally not bothered but the weather being poor, winter olympics being on and not feeling well meant this was the one time I wanted to use it. The food ateT the bar in the evening was very basic and probably out of a packet. There are better eating options in Hathersage.
Great stay at The Little John, some building work going on in the bar/kitchen, but we couldn't hear any of it as the rooms are in a separate building. Room very comfortable, fab shower, dog friendly. As the kitchen was being renovated we were given vouchers for breakfast at Bank House, I had huevos rancheros, it was really nice...we also ate at Peak Pizza, owned by the same people as The Little John, amazing pizza and vibe! The hotel is in a brilliant location and has attentive staff, special thanks to Ian! Hope all goes well after the refurb.
